After the confusion, frustration, dissapopinment, dissolusionment, anger, the feeling of having been lied to, conned, deceived has passed. And it does pass, the feeling of just being able to live one's life and no longer be a man pleaser is so liberating one would never want to trade one's liberty and freedom again.

Er.. when a fully grown adult that's meant to be a witness hears distinct individual characters with seperate voices in their head talking to them and taking over their personality.. you call that normal??

Sorry but not in my books. And psycologists are often total loony bins themselves with some of the theories they come up with every month insuring they get their salaries paid.

But I guess if you don't believe in a God anymore then it must mean the darker side of things is also a non-reality for you. Fair enough.

with all the problems in the 'truth' and all the things that we know are wrong with it there seems to be aspects of their theology (i.e the sequences of the world powers, statue in daniel, the promise of world restoration again found in daniel) that to me still make sense.

although i cannot follow a religion that believes in the destruction of all humanity barring those that respond to their own preaching work i still believe in a creator and cannot accept the teachings of other religions that have no purpose for the earth and believe that mankinds only destiny is in heaven.

my mind keeps telling me that if god was behind a religion it would be so much better than that of the jws.

I am in the same postion as all those that commented in this thread 12 years ago. Mine is quite fresh.. just over 6 months that I began to see through the whole society sharade and now it has put me off religion altogether.

Just allowing time, distance and separation to do it's own healing work. Still trying to work out what I do and do not believe.

that text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.

second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.

you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.

Badly treated by a few individuals? How about badly treated by 4 congregations over a 30 year period?

Yet still I don't make personal attacks on individual witnesses. I just don't believe any more that they are God's chosen people, and what parts of truth they do have, (and every religion on earth is part truth by the way) is spoiled and ruined by over a century of false teachings flip flops, old light, new light, poor light, dull light, wrong light, bad light, lights on the blink and often complete darkness.

Even putting aside all personal experiences (and I could tell you horror stories of the behaviour of the witnesses) it's the teachings themselves that have caused me to lose complete respect and any reverence I had to the organisation and society as a whole. They are no better then anyone else in the word. They drink, they smoke, they lie and steal and lust and covet and abuse and rape and molest and deceive yet they strut around with a air of importance and an arrogance that has become quite unsettling to behold.

There is no true love. There is no true humility. There is no true compassion.

What respect I used to have for the witnesses has dissipated. In my eyes they have the status of dishonest and repugnant second hand car salesmen. .. and before you attempt to label or tag me as some bitter apostate, You should know that I am neither disfellowshipped and neither am I disassociated. I just left one day and did not go back. I was looking for the truth.. I was looking for God, I was looking for Jesus, I was looking for love.

I found none of them there.

I tried to order a new Bible at the hall once and waited for 6 months but it never arrived. When I asked the literature servant why not he told me that one of the elders cancelled my order without ever telling me. They let me line up at the counter twice a week for months and no one told me it had been cancelled.

When I found out I was livid. I went home and stacked up every single piece of literature I had.. about 20 books and Bibles, brought them all to the hall and dumped the lot on the literature counter with he words: "if you don't want me to have a Bible then take all this back too.. I want none of it, you can keep your books"

I stopped reading the societies literature that day.

I used to use an American Standard Bible that my mother gave me to meetings. Reading that one made me feel closer to God than ever the NWT did.

A short while after I quit meetings entirely. I dis-fellowshipped them all with a single axe fell.
