  To My Mother

  at about 6:30 this evening my mother passed away.. .

  the best mother and the best wife anybody could ever be blessed with.

  she was not only my mother, she was my friend.

  The "barf" Bethel visit

  my jw daughter came over monday to tell me all about her visit to bethel!.

  first, she said how happy she felt and so very emotional when they took them, (a group of 8) to where the "twelve goberning body" held their meetings.

  she said: "mom, i got to see where they sit!".

  Makes me remember all the times we had an overseer over for dinner. My mom would scour the house, tell us to be on our ultra-good behavior.. then, when he and his wife came in, everyone rushed to get his seat, get a drink, etc. It was like having the king and queen of England over. Everything that came out of their mouths was greeted with 'oohs' and 'aahs'. - - Terafera

  Last time the circuit overseer came to my house (back when I lived with my parents and was 14 years old), he criticized my conduct and made threats regarding the consequences (i.e. disassociation) during lunch. I responded by asking him and his wife to "get the f&*k out of our house." Although I paid the price with dad for it, I really enjoyed doing it and have never regretted it.

  I'm assuming (more like hoping), given the above, that you are a law enforcement officer. The quote above gives me the impression that you were expecting a negative response from this guy regarding your profession. Did becoming a law enforcement officer result in JW problems for you or did you become a law enforcement officer after you left the JWs? I've been out for 23 years, but I seem to recall that a popular elder in our congregation was also a law enforcement officer (he was a detective - not a uniformed officer), who was known to carry a concealed weapon. To my knowledge, no one in our congregation had any issues with that.

  Jehovah obviously holds elders and the Governing Body more accountable as to how they discharge their shepherding obligations. - - You Know (but he obviously doesn't!)

  So what accountability is Jehovah going to impose upon the leaders of your cult who have encouraged the abuse and exploitation of children?

  i must say that as a neutral scientific observer of this site--it seems that things are kind of one-sided here.

  i thought this was a board with both devout jws and ex-jws on it.

  on further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com.

  For one who represents him/herself as an "intellectual academic," you are ostensibly ignorant of the teachings of the Jehovah's Witness cult. "Devout" JWs will never be found on this board because the JW cult forbids communication with disfellowshipped or disassociated members and also admonishes its members to avoid material written by "apostates."

  On further reflection it appears that this medium of communication should probably be called ex-jw.com. Hey it is your choice what you want to call it.

  Thanks for acknowledging our freedom of expression. Now maybe you can convince the leaders of your cult to allow its members similar freedoms.

  But objectivity and openness are important for us intellectual academics.

  Intellectual academic? Isn't that an oxymoron?

  As for your objectivity, a review of the posts indicates that you haven't fooled anyone here. It may surprise you, but the folks on this board are not as easy to fool as the sheep you're accustomed to. Welcome to the real world!
