One of my greatest regrets was raising my children around JWs. My oldest son no longer speaks to me because he's a JW and I'm Not. This in my Opinion, was a Sacrifice of my First Born to False Religion. He really isn't Living.

Child sacrifice
by veen inso everyone always goes on about how terrible baal worshipers were, sacrificing their children to him etc.
do not parents therefore, of children who die from not accepting blood, carry out a very similar act.
essentially, they allow their children to die just to please their god, and would be praised for standing firm right to the end, as they stood by and watched their child slowly slip away, knowing that they could save their life at any time.

My 17 year old daughter has so many problems
by Jez inwell, my 17 year old has left home in a horribly negative way.
she has had many problems for many years.
she ran away a year ago, we dragged her home, took her to the hospital for bulimia and suicidal tendencies.

Oh Jez, I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter. My daughters were so much more difficult than my sons to raise. My experiences have been very similar to yours. I had the police at my home so often, I lost count. One of my girls was a run away. Both used drugs.
I feel the tears welling up in me right now because I can't give you a physical Hug. You will get through this. Just keep reminding your precious daughter how much you Love her.
Both of my Girls are fine now and we're actually good friends. They are fully capable of taking care of themselves now; I am confident of that. There's a lot of baggage with ex-JWs and this is felt with our kids.

I believe people have a right to smoke. But they have the Obligation to Not do it around other people. Others have a Right to Breath Clean Air. I only have to be around a smoking individual for only a couple minutes and I'll be congested and coughing for the next week.

What do you think the JWs will be doing on the 4th of July?
by Blindbutnowisee intomorrow i plan on sleeping in late and then go to a cookout.
during a day where it seems that most people will be in the yards cooking on the grill, i wonder if more jws will go out in service; and if offered a hotdog will they accept it?.

Depends on their "Conscience" Some Will have cookouts and go see Fireworks. . Others will remain faithful and separate from the world. They will be out knocking on doors.

The Time and Effort you gave as a JW is worthless
by JH inthis always bugged me.. no matter how much you did or spent for the watchtower, the moment you stop attending meetings and stop going out in the field service, it's as if you never did anything.
isn't it written someplace in the bible that god remembers your actions of the past?.
when i became inactive many years ago, i realized that all i did as a jw was down the drain because i stopped going to meetings and going out in the field service.. .

What really bothers me is those who never saved for retirement. I remember one guy here in Ohio who lost his job with the Railroad. He chose to receive a lump sum payout from his Pension. Did he put in into another account to earn Interest? No. He took his family to Disney World. Well I guess it makes sense; JWs are living in a Fantasy World.

7th Day Adventists & J-Dubs
by Black Man incan we consolidate a comprehensive thread on what beliefs the dubs ripped off, ahem co-opted from the adventists.
i believe the birthdays and some of the end-times speculation came from them.
i've been interested in seeing how much of an influence they have been.

There are similarities with all of the Cults and with many Religions for that matter. It's all about control.

Small dog Owners, best breed?

Personally I like Pugs but I wouldn't recommend them to your mother. These little dogs are quite disobedient and may run out into the street when she opens the door.
For an older person replacing a cat, I Highly recommend the chihuahua. They are not fragile as many people think. (That shaking & trembling, in my opinion is only an act)
They are certainly not my favorite breed but I have had a great deal of experience with them over the years. They are extremely loyal and will not leave your mother's side. They are low maintenance and can be taken anywhere, even camping! . They can be trained to use a litter box.

WHAT would YOU do? Teen issues.....
by onlycurious inmy oldest daughter is a handful.
she has a mouth that just doesn't seem to stop and today we got into it .....again.. well, after a bunch of crap coming out of her mouth, i smacked her on the arm and told her to quit the talking to me that way.. then, it got worse when she kicked me.
geez, how would you have dealt with this kind of thing.. i told her i'm going to send her to a camp this summer where they put her on a giant kite (parasailing) and make her fly off a cliff.

Always let your child know you love her. This rebellion is a good thing in my opinion. I have four grown children. My oldest was obedient; he wwas the Perfect Child. My other three were rather difficult. The oldest decided to go back to the JWs and doesn't speak with me anymore. The other three are good friends with me now.
