MelloJello, welcome.
Elderette is a battleax that will boss around the poor young brother or push-over MS
during the field service meeting, like change the car group arrangements or what territory the
group will work.

but their views on blood are just plain weird!
meat has blood in it even if it's bled.
still eating meat means consuming blood.
Watching the Wizard of Oz is bad b/c it has a "wizard" in it.
if you went to the meeting yesterday, did you notice how utterly watchtarded it was??
it seemed to me that everyone in my kh has accepted the fact that they will die.
that's all they kept saying, even the wt conducting eldumb said, " we have to teach the next generation because we won't be here forever.." wth?!???
Londo,
That's b/c study conductor's routinely harp on the photos by asking the audience to pick out the learning points.
Like I the Jeremiah book where they show a young sister with punk hairdo/clothes being counseled by the elders. She's looking away from them with a F.U. attitude (photo 1).
(photo 2): show her looking at a field service photo of her in her goody JW days, while she sits in her run-down apt., baby in the crib, dead-beat boytoy past out drunk on the sofa.
Photo 3: she sees the error of her ways, cleans herself up, sheds a few tears of genuine repentance and is welcomed back to the congo with open arms, her daughter in tow.
moral of the photo montage: listen, obey, be bleesed.
letter to be read at next weeks service meeting.
And then there is the "isn't that a loving provision" to assign them to a local congregation?
do you ever read in your bible about a "service meeting"?
how about the "theocratic ministry school"?.
the society has to reach back into the ot to justify its assemblies and conventions, as with national holidays in ancient israel.. yet, there is no official modern-day version of this:.
CultBgone,
I'll never forget the time we hosted a local elder and his family, and promptly after we ate they said they needed to leave because a group was going to the movies. We weren't invited to the movies, however. Thanks so much...not.
Let me guess, was this clown a substitute CO in training? Sounds like something they would do.

Heaven forbid that they should even crack open the Bible and discuss among themselves.

metatron, do the Amish serve good food? Just Wonderin.
so as not to hijack logcon's thread about crazy things jw's have said to householders, i'd like to start one about just plain old odd jw's.. for example, i knew this dear, dear senior brother who would carry a small bag of peanuts in one pocket of his suit coat and a small plastic bag of brown sugar in the other.. during that time, we would stay out all day long because the territory was extensive.. can't you just picture that precious soul alternately tossing a few peanuts/crumbs of sugar into his mouth as he schlepped from house to trailer, from trailer to house?.
the householders would usually offer us water, lemonade, kool-aid, or soda pops, so no problem with finding something to quench our thirsts.. those were the days!.
sylvia.
A pioneer elder I went in service with would throw older magazine pairs on the doormats of the not-at-homes.
is anyone watching jeopardy right now?
under the topic, nebuchadnezzar, the answer was something like, "in 586 or 587 b.c., this city was captured by nebuchadnezzar....blah blah blah.
" i wonder how many jdubs flipped out about that one!
