  Sing Dirges to Jehovah?

  back in 1985 my then-wife and i were having a lunchtime "gathering" at our place to show some support to the ones in our congregation who were full-time pioneers.

  i had just recently received the vinyl collection of the songs featured in the song book "sing praises to jehovah" which had been released the previous year.. .

  many of these melodies sounded depressing to me although i would have never admitted it at the time.

  DATA-DOG, You have flair my man. That's wickedly funny.

  losingit, the FIRM AND DETERMINED song was in fact written in the concentration camps during WWII. There's a WT video where a German annointed sister gives some background information on that song.

  I heard comments that the songs do not follow "standard" music chord progressions, melodic phrasing and so forth. That is what you get when your song-writers have no formal training (read: education) but are selected because they have the "spiritual" qualifications (read: full-time service). I read somewhere that one of the brothers that collaborated on the new song book actually had music/recording industry experience but quit half-way into the project when he experienced the pettiness and hypocrisy of the WT project overseer or something to that effect.

  Most Annoying Things That Happen At JW Meetings

  today i was remembering how angry i used to get at the meetings and all the little irritations that in the end would just make my blood boil these included:.

  prayers that go on foreverstudy or wt conductors still taking comments when its clear that the point has been covered 20 times alreadymeetings over running by more than 5 minsmy favourite was this one elder who would play guess the point i am thinking of.

  he would keep rephrasing the question from the wt until someone would bring up the point he was thinking of.

  R_O: Ah, yes the monster corporate lawyer bookcase. That one hit close to home, when I was first in I had a case that would have made Marcus Welby MD jealous. I thought heck, you never know when an exorcism will break out, you need to be prepared for anything.

  When you bring your lunch, bring along extra's to feed others

  last week's service meeting had brought out the experience in the 2013 yb about sharing their lunch with someone in the audience, who didn'y have anything.

  although i beleive this to be a good idea, but, i couldn't help but think how things had changed.

  the society wasn't playing by that same principle of hospitality, when they had the food arrangement at the assemblies.

  as an awakened, "still in" witness, i especially ask fellow witnesses to think about the following conclusions as to whether they are factually correct or just rantings.

  analyse these statements using your powers of reasoning, and what you know is really ordered by the governing body in new york, and not by the bible!.

  1. there is no need for individual witnesses to "study" or meditate on the bible, because all the study & meditation has been done for you by a writing committee in brooklyn.

  I would have to say that they do encourage #1 and #2 with respect to individuals asking for HS to reach and accept the "correct" understanding of the Bible and consequently the WT. If ever one gets to #3 and #4, refer to steps 1 and 2 in order to avoid 3 and 4.

  i studied with a wonderful jw couple weekly for 3 years.

  Gum Chewing....Allowed in your hall or not?

  so when i attended, this was never an issue - its been five years since i was booted.

  a bit before i woke up, a couple visiting us (middle america) from the deep south basically told me this never, ever was allowed in their hall.

  no 'priveleges' for a guy who chewed gum.

  We have an elder's wife that would line up her kids and hand them each a stick of gum right before the opening song. Then the CO came to town and said something to the effect: What do gum-chewing sisters and cows have in common? Answer: they both chew sit there chewing their cud and don't have a care in the world. Did that have any effect on our Elderette? Hell no.

  according to an article in todays paper prince plans to charge fans as little as $11 for tickets to his coming london shows.. the pop superstarsaid he wanted to keep ticket prices low and work smaller venues with his all- female band 3rd eye-girl.. "this is a new band ,people are getting something new" prince said.. hhhhhmmmmm.

  Bro. Nelson will need to get CO wardrobe approval prior to the show-that means no tight purple pants or chest hair exposure (ruffled shirt ok, tie not optional) and no phallus-shaped guitars or goat-shaped demon props allowed on the Convention stage.

  I wonder who the Aberdeen Cong. representative sat by at this conference, the officer from the Salvation Army or maybe the Hong Kong Islamic center. Does the word "inter-faith" come to mind?
