  The WatchTower and Higher Education

  runningman's post on the fallacies of the watchtower reasonings started me thinking on the gb's stand on higher education.

  i am impressed with the superb thinking ability of many who post here.

  unclebruce, stephanus, victor_e, gamaliel, blondie, undisfellowshipped, and machislopp to name just a few.

  My situation is kind of funny in a way, my parents have always been "spiritually weak" yet they still advised me not to go to college. "what do you want to go to college for the "end" is so close. You would just be wasting your time."

  But let the heavens open for my brothers who decided to go to college. My mother is a little backwards on this. Her thinking is so old fashioned on this subject. She thinks Prince Charming is going to come and sweep me off my feet and take care of me.

  Not that I wouldn't like that, but let's get real here.

  I wish I would have went to college right after high school, but I cannot change the past. I can only plan my future at this point.

  I am finally in school trying to get my degree. Fortunately compared to others I only wasted 9 years.

  "weather" it be here or there...what do you like/dislike

  im talking 'bout sweating & freezing......parched & soaked...what do like or dislike about the weather in your area...... whats the worst & best time of year and why..... do you like or dislike where you live and why as pertaining to hot/cold/dry/wet...... i personally dislike the heat where i live (good ol sw fl)....but from dec-feb we have very nice weather.

  i can deal with rain but not the excessive humidity that we have here year round.

  i obviously don't want to live here forever and would like the scoop for when i make my great escape..... help please...thanks.

  I love living here in Southern California. For the most part the whether is just fine. I love all seasons.

  One thing I hate about So. Cal is the Smog!

  Shock & Awe on my JW Mom

  i called my mom sunday for a little talk.

  our weekly phone calls were curtailed severely by them after the recent crackdown by the empire.

  but i still get one in every once in a while.. she brought up the war in iraq and in what came across to me as an unorganized halfhearted attempt, tried to use it to go into "the end".

  With the disbanding of the Soviet Union in December 1991, the king of the north suffered a serious setback. Who will be this king when Daniel 11:44, 45 is fulfilled? Will he be identified with one of the countries that were part of the former Soviet Union? Or will he change identity completely, as he has done a number of times before?   What they really wanted to say and may as well have:

  "Leave it to us (WT Org,) to speculate for you. We (WT Org.) are wise and privleged and God will call us on the telephone as soon as he is ready to reveal the information."

  Circuit Assembly this past weekend

  this past weekend we had our circuit assembly.

  you guessed it, same ol' same ol.

  ' on saturday, the overall theme was based on materialism.

  . He said that in one particular area of the USA, there is a circuit that has the equivalent of 5 congregations of inactive ones. Damn, I was impressed! Where is this area at? I'm sure some of you here are in that circuit.

  LOL, THAT WAS FUNNY!!!

  I Always noticed there was a deficit too. Even at the Kingdom Halls when they would do the expense reports.

  When there was a surplus nine times out of ten they would vote that we send the extra $ to the WT.

  God forbid if they ever vote that the the $ go to a needy family in the hall.

  help what bookstudy book are we in?

  i am new here and i usually dont come to these type of places as they are rampant with apostates.

  i still belive in most of the teachings but its the people in the org.

  that have turned me away.. the reason that i am posting though is this, i have been inactive for a few months now but i have been holding out telling my parents, friends etc.

  AhHah,

  Very touching letter. Can I copy it and give it to my family?

  I have not been Df'd or DA'd but I want so bad just to say to my family you know what I don't want this Org in my life or any other one. I am too scared at this point, I am afraid my siblings will start to shun me.

  I am in total agreement with everything you wrote in your letter.

  My sister is always telling me "Come back to meetings the "End" is so close, you will be so much happier.You can't find any happiness in this wicked world with all these evil sick people. You can find a nice brother to marry. Worldly guys can't be trusted"

  And this same sister from what I hear is always missing meetings. And she often leaves my nine year old nephew with me or my parents on meeting nights because he doesn't feel like going I assume.

  Her and her husband just bought a home and I am happy for her but I wonder why did she buy a home if the "End" is so close. And not just that she has turned this fixer-up-home (it was really bad) into a beautiful home. She is "obsessed" with it according to other JW's and some of my JW family. Every weekend she is working on it. It really is beautiful.

  I feel like asking her why didn't you just stay in your apartment since this system is almost over. All the time and money you are putting in this home you could use for kingdom interests. More than likely you home will be destroyed during armageddon.

  If I only had enough nerve. I am too nice always worried about what people will think of me.

  How long can you go without...

  how long can you go without drinking one drop of alcohol, beer, wine, whatever contains alcohol?.

  in my case, it must be 5 years

  I am really only a social drinker. Sometimes I drink to much.

  On average I would say I drink once every 2 months.

  I would say I over drink once every 6 months.

  Not too big on alcohol, maybe because my father is an alcoholic. I seen the damage it does to people and their relationships.
