i`m wondering just when and why the g.b.of jw`s made the change as they did to their official magazine.?.
at first they were advertising his presence long before they claim he actually arrived .. 1879 was the first wt wasn`t it ?
and their advertising his presence ,when according to their beliefs he din`t actually arrive with his presence until 1914.?.
I agree with JeffT
In my morning musings I sometimes think about the odd name of the jw religion, “Jehovah’s witnesses”. It’s an odd name for a religion. To me, it certainly seems that the man that wanted to be called “judge”, Joe Rutherford, conjured up the name ‘Jehovah’s witnesses’, by himself, in order to make the wtbts HIS religion and to purposely set it apart from what he called ‘Christendom’ for no other reason than just to be ‘different’. Rutherford knew that controversy is what grabs the public’s attention, and unpredictability is what holds the public’s attention. He used a rather obscure Bible verse, Isaiah 43:10, found in the Hebrew Scriptures no less, on which to base the ‘name’ of (his) a Christian religion.
So by substituting jehovah for jesus "the judge" created controversy.

here is a man named jerry.
on a public sidewalk, he asks attendees leaving a jehovah's witness convention in san diego a simple question, ''do jehovah's witnesses have the truth.
not one person acknowledges him.
If every fader and or apostate would approach those poor souls that are 'cart witnessing' and d politely ask them some difficult questions about generations, overlapping, merging congregations, etc., I believe that it would certainly start them to thinking or even questioning the jw beliefs. I believe that being civil, genuine and non confrontational is the key. Should we try to humiliate or educate them?

have you ever reinstate somebody even if they are not that repentant?.
Only god knows if someone is repentant---right. So elders get to play god. lol
I always hated being on a "judicial committee". I never felt any sort of divine guidance even though that's what we claimed was helping us to "judge" a matter. I know now as do others that it was all bullsh*t!

for lurkers: current study article 1st december wt.
in sept. study edition.
details hidden in the discussion: a pair of 'elephants in the room', and their calves.
Revelation 7 says, or at least strongly indicates, that the "great crowd" was so 'great' that no man was able to number it. JW's continue to brag about how "great" this number is and that the "great crowd" will survive the end of the world!
However, Jesus himself said in Matthew 7:13,14 the 'road to everlasting life was narrow and few would find it?'
O well, jesus was wrong! lol lol

i ask the question on the title because there a quite a number of statements the apostle paul made about the coming of jesus and resurrection of the holy ones that never fulfilled.
1 corinthians 15: 51, 52 (nwt) : .
i tell you a sacred secret: we will not all fall asleep in death, but we will all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the blink of an eye, during the last trumpet.
How the hell did the "letters" of Paul come to be part of the bible cannon to begin with? Who the hell thought that Paul's letters carried more weight than other letters written during that time?
The whole collection of writings called the "bible" are just a mish mash of documents collected together by the Catholic church for some reason!

i get the feelings that stephen lett tries to come across as mr. rogers but there are times it oozes through that he is a lot more dominant and controlling then he lets on.
.
He's hard to look at seriously! He's the best advertisement for not being a jw!

the humanist organisation in the uk wants to protect non-religious people who leave their church/religion from being punished for doing so.
they want the religious hate crime legislation in the uk to be extended to people who are not religious.
i hope they will succeed.
Maybe shunning is not a legal crime---------but it sure as hell is a moral crime!

i know of two older couples who have gone overseas to live in recent years.
one could be classified in my opinion as a “need greater” although i think it might also have to do with getting more for their money.
the other i think was seeking out a cheaper and more naturally beautiful environment to live in their retirement years.. what i wondered is if these people are disenchanted and bored with life in the states.
I know a fairly young couple (in their 40's) that moved to China. I know they were starting to fade from the wt but never really said so. They get back to California once a year and the 'brother' has confided in me about how easy it is to be a jw in China. Lots of faking. No real field service and just occasional meetings. Once his parents pass away, he'll just walk IMHO.

holy shit!
i went to the meeting on thursday night to hear my grandson and my daughter give their "talk" on the misery school!.
the very first part on the next meeting that follows the misery school was a 15-20 minute part, with a video of course, on the many ways to donate money to the wt!
