Did you celebrate the 2nd anniversary of JW.org?

"the first 5 days of august, 1200 bible studies were requested.. another stat today; in 6 months, jan. thru june, jw.org got 3200 bible study requests.. but this month?

there have been 3606 to date as of; aug. 19, 2014.".

Why bother with providing any stats at all now?

They might as well just claim, 'The preaching work is now technically being carried out continuously in all parts of the globe by every Jehovahs Witness alive, as ALL are actively promoting JW.ORG. It is impossible to statistically report the actual number of hours and 'return visits' any longer. There just aren't enough noughts! Didn't we say the organisation was 'going to rock?'

i haven't really been on here in like, a year.

my stbx introduced me to this site and then a whole buch of life happened and i just sort of never had time for forums.

Might as well conclude Jesus never cut his nails for 33 and a half years - his personal grooming habits aren't mentioned either.

The bible informs us that Jesus whilst on earth was indeed a carpenter.

But you don't believe what the bible says.

So you might as well refer to Him as "Lord" which is His current and correct bible status ( the Name above all names - Phill 2:6-11)

that being the case, shouldn't they avoid eating steaks?

Cofty: Naughty! You were a church-goer - you will recall that the 'any day now' approach to Jesus' return was never even mentioned, let alone taught.

Christians have the Spirit of Christ dwelling in them. If He returned tomorrow - wonderful, if I die first - still wonderful. Nothing is able to separate me from Him.

i'm a 17 year old from scotland.

can i just say this site is absolutely brilliant.

finally found people with open minds and free thought that doesn't just consist of "well the wt told me this so it must be right".. my story is that i'm just like any other child of a jw...brought up into a life of indoctrination where "the world's" thinking is automatically wrong.. that is until i was 14 - a light turned on in my head.

17 is a brilliant age to have woken up/about to leave the cult. When we exited, my born-in, baptised daughters were 16 and 18. Almost 3 years later it is

impossible to detect on any level that they were ever in.

Now go and live a wonderful life!

Something I read:

In a German prisoner of war camp in WW2, undiscovered by the guards, some Americans built a home made radio.

One day news cane the German High Command had surrendered, ending the war.

Because of a communications breakdown, however, the guards did not know this.

As word spread among the prisoners, a loud celebration broke out.

For 3 days, they sang, waved at guards and shared jokes over meals.

On the fourth day they awoke to find all the Germans had fled.

Their waiting had come to an end.

Jesus' final words, 'I am coming quickly', are followed by an urgent prayer' Amen, even so, come Lord Jesus!'

For this we (Christians) still wait. We can, like the Allied prisoners act on the good news we say we believe. Faith looks

beyond the shadow of dread, doubt and fear.

What is faith in God, after all, but believing in advance what will only make sense in reverse?

I could not put it any better.

Telephone Conversations Today with 2 Elders Re: Shunning - Or Not?

my alcoholic and aged jw mother is now extremely ill and is being cared for in every respect by my non-jw brother.

3 sisters visited him yesterday and were adamant.

that i (disassociated and shunned by her for nearly 3 years) was able to 'visit her any time' and that ' there was nothing to stop me seeing her' as long as i. didn't discuss spiritual things with her.

Update: Spoke to my mother on the phone and asked whether she was willing to 'waive' the shunning so I could help. She was very moved and agreed.

I was there within 30 minutes. She is weak and very thin from not eating properly, started to sob, stood up as best she could, took me in her arms and kept saying

'Oh my daughter'. It is obvious that the forced separation from me and her two grandchildren is that what is actually killing her.

I spent 8 hours with her, she actually said she cannot be hardhearted and (her illness may be a convenient stepping stone for her) our relationship

is completely back on track! She ate a couple of meals with me, we chatted and reminisced - my brother could not believe the difference in her.

I'm going back for the day on Friday, taking my daughters with me, and hubby is fixing her tv/freeview (needs new cable - so she can get German

programmes). I gently mentioned little snippets about the wt - I really fought against saying too much - that I had moved on faith-wise etc

and everything stayed calm and, well, loving. Let her illness be an excuse - she doesn't care, I don't care. She has her family back and I have my

mum back. So up-yours watchtower! (Couldn't help that.)
