You had me until Watchtower, lol.
First thought was that you sold the old .net domain name. Then it clicked.
a week or so ago i posted that the forum was 15 years old (15 years of jehovahs-witness.com) and hinted that there may be some news to announce about the site:.
i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.
well, now i can announce it - i sold it !.

as an atheist interested in debate i have often accused religious folk of suffering cognitive dissonance on many issues.
i stupidly thought i might be immune to such dissonance.
however now i find myself in a battle for my own mind with no obvious end in sight.. i remember being taught as a young jw that the following passage in mark "the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
@Vanderhoven7
I always feel the JW's have to walk a fine line... they desperately want some of their prophesies to come true, but of course once they have judged a particular prophesy 'to have occurred', they have now used it up (if you know what I mean). Potentially they then run the risk of having to back down and admit what they thought occurred was wrong too. I suppose that is a good reason to pluck out somewhat dubious prophesies and fear monger with them!
I know exactly what you mean. Sad thing is that they've done just that, and with no mass fall out. This is part of the reason many of us are here today. Think Christ's enthronement and presence, 1914, who really are the faithful and discreet slave, new light, and many more. These are all instances where they used up one prophesy only to have an "Oh, shit!" moment, and then they changed it with new light to suit their purposes. With their power, they were able to present the history of the doctrine in a favorable light due to indoctrination so that nobody noticed (or those who did weren't affected enough to realize the true impact of the change). The more time that passes between these types of things, the easier it is to play it off. But now with the internet, this is becoming more difficult to hide.
when i was a kid i would hear religious songs on tv and start sining them... not knowing they were church songs... one day i started singing the hallelujah song (not sure the exact name of the song) my father quickly gave me a hard slap on the mouth and said if i ever sang that song again he would take his belt off and beat my butt until it was red!.
well fast forward 30 years..... the public speaker was missing today and so tv.jw>org to the rescue.... instead they decided to play the new video about the last hundred years since 1914.. instantly the hall was filled with the exact same song i was punished for!
yes a church song filled the hall for almost 5 minutes as we watch br.
The first thing I noticed was Russells and Herds pinky rings....

i have no idea who joshua surtees is, but this man deserves a pat on the back for a perfectly written piece on witnessing.. http://www.guardian.co.tt/lifestyle/2015-03-26/come-armageddon-come.
just a short extract: .
jehovah’s witnesses are looking more like regular people every day.
i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.
i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".
she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.
Just saw this. I'm happy for the both of you Cappytan. I shared the PBS and ABC segments with my wife too, but I don't know if she fully watched them. She probably just skimmed the transcript. She did say she wondered why the two were out in service together with Candace being so young. I told her it's not that uncommon, especially when it's a close family friend that you trust.
Even though there's not much in the open aside from our talks last year where I explained my doubts, I'm having some small progress. I can count the number of meetings I've been to this year on one hand. My wife says that she's going to the meetings, but the day of there's always some excuse as to why she can't go, so we don't. Less indoctrination is a good thing. Baby steps for us...
hello all, i finally got around to posting my letter to my judicial committee meeting requests.
sorry its kind of long, it came to 4 pages because of the special meeting requests.
tuesday january 28, 2014.
was it $144000.
where would i find proof of this?.
thanks.
I've been trying to find confirmation on this too. There's a ton of Conti documents at JWLeaks that I have been going through, but I haven't found anything that lists a specific amount except what was awarded. If anyone finds some official documentation or news articles that support (or disprove) the 144,000 pennies/dollars, please share.
years ago, the insinuation was often presented, that those who were inactive were actually not witnesses at all.
the point being made was that ''...winesses is a verb, not a noun...''.
i know there were published assertions to this end in the older books and magazines, with possibly even quotes from the likes of rutherford or knorr ,.
