Hmmmmmm, interesting, I seem to remember that it was once mentioned that there is an unforgivable sin, and that is the sin against the Holy Spirit?
Quick get on the phone to Ray and tell him he's been forgiven.
the february 8, 2003 awake has an article entitled:"is there an unforgivable sin".notice the good news for apostates or those who once associated.
"some people who were once faithful christians have purposely drawn away from god, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now apostate fighters against god's spirit.
they willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing.

dear everyone, my dad died suddenly and unexpectedly at the weekend.he did'nt turn up for a family dinner and my husband and i went to see if he was ok.he was dead.collapsed in his home.i can't stop shaking and i feel really sick.i've lost my mum and now my dad too.i wish i could sleep for months and wake when the pain has finished with me.
it hurts so much .sorry to bring everyone down-but i'm stressed at having to sort out his arrangements due to the autopsy and funeral etc and the house and my feelings.
; i just wanted to tell you all as my husband's gone for a walk and the children are asleep and i'm feeling scared about viewing his body, but i know i'll have to and i feel guilty for feeling like that.stupid thoughts racing through my mind at the moment-need to 'hear' a friendly voice .
I'm so sorry for your sudden loss, and hope that the pain soon subsides, it takes time and you will never totally fill in the empty space left, but time does heal, and you're not alone like some. Remeber the good times, and picture him smiling.
Crying is a way for us to heal.
What Colour Is The Wind
What colour is the wind, Daddy
Is it yellow, red or blue
When he's playing with my hair, Daddy
Does he do the same to you
When he's dying does his colour fade
Is a gentle breeze a lighter shade
Just like his friend the sea
The wind feels blue to me
-------
When the blackbird starts to sing, Daddy
Do the flowers hear him, too
When he's pouring out his heart, Daddy
Tell me, what do roses do
Do they cast their scent upon the air
And is fragrance just a rose in prayer
Giving thanks to God above
For the blackbird's song of love
-------
Blow, wind, blow
Wild and free
My Daddy says
You're a lot like me
I know each colour
Its shape and size
I've seen them all
With my Daddy's eyes
-------
I know that grass is green, Daddy
I've touched it with my toes
And snow is purest white, Daddy
I've felt it with my nose
But my favorite colour has to be
The colour of your love for me
And Daddy, I've been told
That love is always gold
-------
Blow, wind, blow
Wild and free
My Daddy says
You're a lot like me
My Daddy says
You're a lot like me
What colour is the wind

The Harp of God 1921
"The time of the Lord's second presence dates from 1874, as above stated."
P. 234
The Latter part of "the time of the end" Jesus designates as a time of harvest, because he says: "The harvest is the end of the world (age)". He stated that he would be present at that time. From 1874 forward is the latter part of that period of "the time of the end". From 1874 is the time of the Lord's second presence, as above stated.
P. 234 - 235
"It was in the year 1874, the date of our Lord's second presence, that the first labour organisation in the world was created. From that time forward there has been a marvellous increase of light, and the inventions and discoveries have been too numerous for us to mention all of them here, but mention is made of some of those that come to light since 1874, as further evidence of Lord's presence since that date,"
P. 235 - 236
" We should expect to find a parallel of this with reference to the harvest of the gospel age, and we do find it. Counting three and a half years from 1874, the time of His presence, brings us to 1878. During the presence of the Lord from 1874 to 1878 he was making preparation for the harvest of the gospel age."
P. 241
"The great work of the harvest, that it is to say, the proclaiming of the second presence of the Lord from the gathering together of those who truly love His appearing, has been so remarkably fulfilled since 1874 that it is one of the most striking and conclusive proofs of the Lord's second presence."
P. 244
"His presence beginning in 1874, he has carried on his harvest work from 1878 forward, but has not interrupted gentile dominion until that dominion should end."
The Harp of God 1928
P. 236
"The time of the Lord's second presence dates from 1874, as above stated."
P. 239
" From 1874 forward is the latter part of the period of "the time at the end". From 1874 is a time of the Lord's second presence, as above stated."
P. 240
P. 242
"This circumstantial evidence fulfilling prophecy is what constitutes the physical facts, and is proof corroborative of the Lord's presence since 1874; for this gathering work had been in progress particularly since that date."
P. 251
"His presence beginning in 1874, he has carried on his harvest work from 1878 forward, but has not interrupted gentile dominion until that dominion should end."
P. 256
"There are many other corroborative evidences of the presence of Lord, but space will not permit the examination of all of them here. We leave the reader to find a more detailed explanation of these great corroborative truths set force in volumes 2 and 3 of Studies in the Scriptures."
noah: who is that?.
god: it's the lord thy god, noah.. noah: right ... where are ya?
you over there.. noah: what do you want?.
God: NOAH.
Noah: (Looks up) Is someone calling me? (Shrugs and goes back to his work)
God: NOAH!!
Noah: Who is that?
God: It's the Lord thy GOD, Noah.
Noah: Right ... Where are ya? What do ya want? I've been good.
God: I want you to build an ark.
Noah: Right ... What's an ark?
God: Get some wood and build it 300 cubits by 80 cubits by 40 cubits.
Noah: Right ... What's a cubit?
God: Well never mind. Don't worry about that right now. After you build the ark, I want you to go out into the world and collect all the animals of the world, two by two, male and female, and put them into the ark.
Noah: Right ... Who is this really? What's going on? How come you want me to do all these weird things?
God: I'm going to destroy the world.
Noah: Right ... Am I on Candid Camera? How are you gonna do it?
God: I'm going to make it rain for a thousand days and drown them right out.
Noah: Right ... Listen, do this and you'll save water. Let it rain for forty days and forty nights and wait for the sewers to back up.
God: Right...
Narrator: So Noah began to build the ark. Of course his neighbors were not too happy about it. Can you imagine leaving for the office at 7 AM and seeing an ark?
Neighbor: (enters whistling, with brief case) Hey! You over there.
Noah: What do you want?
Neighbor: What is this thing?
Noah: It's an ark.
Neighbor: Uh huh, well you want to get it out of my driveway? I've gotta get to work. Hey listen, what's this thing for anyway?
Noah: I can't tell you, ha ha ha.
Neighbor: Can't you even give me a little hint?
Noah: You want a hint?
Neighbor: Yes, please.
Noah: Well, how long can you tread water? Ha ha ha
Neighbor: There's one in every neighborhood. (Shakes head and leaves)
Narrator: Well Noah finally got the ark built. Then he had the task of gathering all the animals two by two.
Noah: Hey, anybody know how to tell the difference between a male and a female mosquito? (Looking in a box) I told your rabbits before, only two! (He puts box in boat) Whew, finally the last two animals are on board. Let's get this thing closed up before God asks me to do something else. I'm six hundred years old. I am getting too old for this sort of thing.
God: Noah!
Noah: I knew it. What do you want now?
God: You're going to have to take one of those hippos off and get another one.
Noah: Why?
God: 'Cause you got two males. You need a female.
Noah: I'm too tired to bring anything else on board. You change one of them.
God: Come on, you know I don't work like that.
Noah: But I'm sick and tired of this. I've been working all day everyday like crazy for months now, dawn to dusk. I'm tired of this.
God: Noah
Noah: Yeah?
God: how long can you tread water? Ha ha ha
Noah: Yeah, well I got news for you. You keep talking about this flood and I haven't seen a drop of rain. Meanwhile, the whole neighborhood is making fun of me. I told one of my friends I'd been talking to the Lord and he laughed so hard he wet his pants. Do you know I'm the only guy in town with an ark in his yard? People are picketing and calling the heath department, strangers walk up to me and say "How's it going, Tarzan?" I am sick and tired of all of this, you let me get a pregnant elephant . . . Do you give me an instruction book? . . . No!!! Here I am standing under the elephant and brrrrrrrrump! Right on top of me! I'm telling you, I've had enough. You're supposed to see all and know all, well have you seen the bottom of that ark? Who's going to clean up that mess? Not me, I tell you. I quit. I'm tired of this. I'm going to let the animals out and burn that ark down. I can't believe you made me do all this . . .
(God takes a watering can and begins to pour water on Noah's head)
Noah: (continues) I can't believe the mess you got me in and . . . and . . . it's raining . . . This isn't just a shower is it? OK. All right, it's me and you Lord, me and you all the way. I'm with you Lord. Whatever you say....
the watchtower society teaches that jesus christ is the mediator only for the "anointed" jw's and that the "anointed" jw's are the "mediators" for all of the "other sheep".. the bible says jesus is the one mediator for all men:.
1st timothy 2:5: for there is one god, and one mediator between god and men, the man christ jesus
Ozzie,
That is a very interesting post, as is the 95 Awake article on the catacombs. I've been in the catacombs in Rome and is a very interesting site indeed.
My thoughts lay more towards the assumption that the 144,000 figure is a literal number.
Rome was not the only city that harboured Christian converts, the Apostle Paul alone visited many cities and countries, converting many to Christianity.
Congregations grew quickly. Letters to the congregations of Ephisus, Corinth , Galatia , and Thessalonica, to name but a few indicate conversions, visits to other countries and cities such as Syria , Crete, Malta , and Sicily etc. etc. the list goes on, all of which indicates a healthy Christian activity in those places. And thats only Paul, there would have been conversions in Africa , Egypt , Ethiopia etc.
So, my thinking is that given all those converts in all these places, surely the 144,000 figure, if taken literally would have been filled before the great Apostasy took hold and possibly even a few after.
Even in an ancient world without the aid of modern publishing techniques, the word still managed to get around.
Spartacus alone with the aid of 70-80 gladiators managed to raise an enormous army in a very short space of time.
73 BCE: Spartacus escaped with 70-80 gladiators, seizing the knives in the cook's shop and a wagon full of weapons. They camped on Vesuvius and were joined by other rural slaves, overrunning the region with much plunder and pillage, although Spartacus apparently tried to restrain them. His chief aides were gladiators from , named Crixus and Oenomaus.
72 BCE: Spartacus had raised about 70,000 slaves, mostly from rural areas. The Senate, alarmed, finally sent the two consuls (L. Gellius Publicola and Cn. Cornelius Lentulus Clodianus), each with two legions, against the rebels. The Gauls and Germans, separated from Spartacus, were defeated by Publicola, and Crixus was killed. Spartacus defeated Lentulus, and then Publicola; to avenge Crixus, Spartacus had 300 prisoners from these battles fight in pairs to the death.
In the autumn, when the revolt was at its height and Spartacus had about 120,000 followers
Significance of Spartacus: quotation from Erich Gruen, The Last Generation of the Roman Republic (University of California Press, 1974) 20-21:
In view of the above I was thinking if someone like Spartacus, a slave, could raise such an army locally in such a short time, then the early Christians with the aid of the Holy Spirit surely could fill in a quota of only 144,000 loyal kings and priests to rule with Jesus over the period of the first century.
But maybe thats just apostate thinking.
hope the paragraphing works cos I typed this in WORD!
3rd time lucky???????

i just read a reply on another thread (doesnt really matter which one) in which a person made reference to 2 elders and said that they were not too bright, perhaps inbreeding.
presumably this was said because the guys acted in a stupid manner in their counseling and were from the american south.
are southerners really stupid and inbred?
But Gizmo...where will I go, what'll I do?
Frankly my dear marcos, I don't give a damnnnnn! .
i don't know where to begin with this.. we had a meeting scheduled for monday nite (tomorrow), the inactive call.
we decided to cancel the meeting and i've been working on a letter to the elder who was supposed to come over.
i wanted to tell him how we felt and that we just wanted to back away gracefully.. so when my husband called him to cancel, he told him that he couldn't be the witness the congregation expected, etc.
We have not attended a meeting at the Kingdom hall for seven or so years and have not turned in field service time for at least ten years.
Just wondering, what it is you are hoping for freefallin, are you still associating with any witnesses? If not why worry?
It is fact the JW's are encouraged not to associate with ex JW's or worldly type people, if you have associates in there that you still see, well they probably won't want to see you anymore! Unfortunately that's the mindset and you or i can't do anything about it. Except get out ourselves.
If you have family, that you feel will shun you, inform them, that you have not been disfellowshipped, for any sins, but instead disassociated yourselves, from the congreagtion. No particular reasons ie: you disagree with the GB (even tho you do) then point them to the society's own words on their website.
Just what I would personally do.
Good luck

says that if you think you're going to heaven, think again!
you're probably either emotional because a mate or close friend died, or on medication, or are looking for special recognition, because of bible knowledge.so don't even think about it!!
Ok Elsewhere,
I actually did do what you suggested even entering a couple of extra carriage returns, unfortunately it din't work this time.
Oh well maybe Simon can fix it?
Thanks
