  i am trying to help my wife out by baking a pound cake.

  i volunteered after going over the recipe.

  actually it seemed simple enough and i thought it would be a snap to do.. i was wrong.. the problem is it looks fine in the oven.

  Hi Jgnat.

  So does it mean that the middle part is not cooked?

  It looks cooked, just doughy.

  In fact, I sliced off a piece and ate it and it tasted fine. It looked terrible though. I did the straw thing and it came out clean.

  Hi. Thanks so much for responding. I am using one of those silicone (spelling?) 12 inch bundt pans. I bake the cake for 1 hour. The first one though wasn't brown on the top after an hour and so I let it stay in for another 15 minutes.

  Hello Everyone. I am trying to help my wife out by baking a pound cake. I volunteered after going over the recipe. Actually it seemed simple enough and I thought it would be a snap to do.

  I was wrong.

  The problem is it looks fine in the oven. It rises nice and high even though the surface is not smooth and seems to be cracked open in places. The minute I take my nice, high cake out of the oven it goes flat and when cut into is doughy in the middle.

  Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I tried to Google for the answer but was unsuccessful. So I am turing to my friends here.

  Here is the recipe I am using.

  5 eggs, 3 cups sugar, 3 cups flour (I am using all purpose), 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 cup butter, 1 cup shortening, 1 cup milk, lemon extract, vanilla flavoring.

  I have thrown away two cakes already and cannot afford to throw away anymore.

  Please........someone........anyone....HELP!

  there was an announcement at the alaskan district assembly last week that the alaskan branch will now be integrated into the us branch.

  prior to this alaska's number were always counted separately.

  i wonder what this means?

  Then the speaker posed a rhetorical question: What will this mean for Alaska and the rest of the United States?

  No real answer to the question, but thunderous applause nonetheless.

  I respect and admire Mr. Stafford. I have read his books and they have made me think and helped me to come to terms with my own crises of conscience.

  However, the article yopu referred to smacks of self-importance and egoism.

  Mr. Stafford is allowed to attend meetings "on a limited basis" just by talking to the elders? He is able to come and go as he pleases. He can criticize the Witnesses but still is able to be one of them when he chooses to? My, my, isn't that grand.

  It also seems that he believes that his opinions are the only ones that matter and the exJW's that have legitimate questions and thoughts are too petty to be dealth with.

  Excuse me please if I am offending anyone, but his article reeks of someone who believes his own publicity, puffs out his chest and proclaims that he is the greatest.

  i posted a week or two ago that i would stop attending meetings and being an elder.

  i decided to wait on this after we received the june 7th boe letter.

  i was interested in getting more information from other friends & family at bethel.

  The only ones left qualifying will be the real hard asses who have no sympathy for anyone.

  And also the slick two faced elders who don't really believe and who are only in it for the power that being an elder gives them.

  Shocking Announcement: Society feels Armaggedon coming this year?

  however we have found out that there is going to be an announcement sometime in september and it is supposed to be shocking.

  I was at the Kingdom Hall tonight and I went through all the recent BOE letters just to make sure that I didn't miss one, because sometimes I do. Well, there was nothing special in any of them and certainly not an shocking announcement.

  When I got home I called my brother who is a DO and asked him if he had heard anything about a special announcement. He said that the society is trying to get everyone excited and pumped up for the last six months of the year so that the figures will be better for this year than they were for last year. If the brothers think Armegeddon is near then they will spend more time in the field service and replacements will be greater. Also special campaigns get the brothers all excited and they look forward to them, ergo, more time in field service. At the same time. if interested ones and bible studies are concerned that the end is near there will be more baptisms. Rhese special campaigns and hints of Armegeddon are win, win, strategies for the organization

  But he might know something else that he is not telling me. I don't know. He keeps some stuff close to his vest. I'll keep pumping him.
