UK Users JW's and the Data Protection Act 1998

ok so i am wondering, please dont mock me those that know me, i know i was in the police but i have been thinking about something.

the society are no longer allowed to hold personal information on anyway without their written consent, now we had to sign something as publishers etc that they could hold info on us.

now i have been looking at a website http://www.watchthetower.com/ and the forms the society holds on us.

BB you have a very valid point ! of course we cant bring the witnesses up on something that is not actually justified as we would make ourselves look stupid for not doing our research properly.

I am not sure where you are but here in the UK there are very strict laws governing what can and cant be held on you and there are a lot of rules around the holding of information, basically anything with your personal details such as name and date of birth have to be held securly, there can be nothing detrementing your good name unless justified, etc etc.

I have sent them a letter today asking them for my personal info and will take it from there.

My Letter to the Elders in My Late Father's Congregation

Nina your letter has touched me so much, I have prepared my own letter the other day anyway which I am sending to the elders and all the cong that I have addresses still of. This letter is going to cause a bit of an uproar and there are some very personal things that are going to get a few "Spiritual ones" into a lot of trouble. I am also including a copy of your letter !

Funny people in your Congregation

ok so who has got stories about funny people in your cong,.

we had one guy who used to recite really long prayers, you would see people shifting from foot to foot as he recited extracts from the lords prayer in with his, he used to knock on doors and when they didnt answer shout through the letter box saying "i know your home" if they did actually come he would keep them talking for ages even after they said they werent interested.

he even wrote to tony blair and told him how he would die at armageddon, the society recieved a letter of complaint and he got banned from pioneering.

Did you not say anything to the guy like "Er is that natural" or "do you think you need help" or even "go see the elders, you are sick" ?

WOW What can I say !? I have to be honest and this is gonna sound kinda gurly but I was in tears reading that letter. You are a brave person and have been so strong in this.

Big Tex is a rock as you said, what a wonderfull friend, but you are a pillar, you have done so well and we are all so proud of you. Some thing needs to be done about thes people. I was wondering if you would mind if this letter is forwarded to the press over here in Britain, as many people as possible need to know about this ! your Pa is not an isolated incident as we all know but there is not anything said about it and if there is there is not enough on it.

Keep up the good work, keep your chin up in the tribulous time and keep us all posted.

P.S I thought is someone died their credit goes with them ? surely you dont need to pay the bill, just send it back stating that your father has passed on, I am sure AMEX can afford to write it off.

Mystical Tarot

Well I started it a few months back and to be honest the readings were crap ! the cards I got were some cheap ones from a bookstore here called Waterstones. I then went out and picked my cards and did a few more readings, I gues I kinda got used to them and so far I have done about 7 more readings and they have honestly been so accurate and I know this for a fact.

I believe that everyone has a phsycic ability after all we only use a small ammount of our brains as we know, so you just need to learn and become open to it. I dont believe that the tarot is connection with spirits etc but believe that it is a personal awareness, there is a reason why that person picks the cards they did etc you have something inside you.

As ex witnesses we all need to learn to be a lot more open to this sort of stuff if it is of interest to us. Personally I find it very interesting, often it is the case that I will say things before my partner says it or my partner will freak me out seriously by telling me things about my day at work or something that wouldnt be known i.e what people were wearing in the office etc. Stupid things I know but its kinda cool.

I wouldnt go down the route of ouija or anything but certainly believe that we have guardian angels, guardian animals, spirit guides and stuff like that. I also believe a lot more of healing things with herbal stuff and naturally, really trying to go back to the celts and stuff.

If I can be of any more help even just to compare notes drop me a line.

a frequent destination for jw's when confronted with some wt history is the safe haven of "yes, we made some mistakes, but we were willing to change.

" of course for them this puts a nice and satisfying postive spin on a conversation going the wrong way: how admirably humble.

the simple question in response would be "if you say the end of the world will come on this date, and it doesn't, how willing do you have to be to change?
