i can only think of their teaching of hell/sheol/soul...bet y'all cant think of another one .

eg....blood...never been consistent, couldnt have a single drop, can now have particles.... 1914 return of christ...began as 1874 ...was the beginning of the generation that would see the end yada.

I have seen pics of the Christmas Tree at Bethel and I have read Daily Manna's with Christmas lists and the suggestion that it would make a nice Christmas gift...so that has not been consistently rejected.

Raven, have you seen this recently? Or a long time ago?

You should start saving for retirement!!!

this was the advice given me on sunday by my jw dad.

i was telling him about a chance i have take a paperless stock option.. he encouraged me to put money in a safer investment, so "i would have enough to retire on.

" i told him i started saving around 95, after the generation change watchtower.

i have a friend who is a jw, and i don't think she is right at all.

do you guys have any convincing arguments on why jw is wrong?

but also I think that it is a problem that affects all religions, personally I think that organized religion is something that man uses to control other men I hate all ORGANIZED religions. I think practicing religion, if you so desire, is something personal that no one else needs to be invoIved in.

Why Not Just Let It Go?

i am fairly new to this board, but have been lurking for awhile before i decided to become a registered member.

i have read many posts old and new and can't help but wonder why many of you just don't let it go?

some of you have expressed bitterness and disgust over what the wts has done to you.

Does God define "right and wrong" or is there an intrinsic 'good' ?

i don't personally believe in a 'god' but i wonder for those who do .... is there an intrinsic "right and wrong" or moral code that would exist whether or not there was a god?.

to put it another way, is what we believe is "right or wrong" based on whatever god decides is right or wrong (ie.

he set's the standard) or is it an intrinisc thing that he also must adhere to in order to be thought of as 'good'.. if god has to adhere and go along with some intrinsic value system then does this effect any claims to be omnipotent and always good?

Well to me its just natural that its something we learned.

For instance not sleeping with your friends wife. To me that is an innate concept learned when we lived in tribes, it would have created too much conflict, the same with murder, or stealing. Without these basic good and bad rules, we would not survive as a species, it is totally survival of the fittest and tribes that didn't have these rules would have died out, due to infighting etc.

It has become innate because our ancestors needed these 'morals' to survive .

SMURFS ?!

can anyone tell me what was wrong with the smurfs ?.

i heard some horrible rumours about them as a kid, something about some kid taking a smurf to the kingdom hall, it making a whole lotta noise and then trotting off up the aisle until some burley elder threw it out the back !.

while we are on this point anyone ever have things taken away from them for being demonic etc

I remember the Papa Smurf story. We thought it was really funny. I dont think my mum ever believed in that stuff, I always watched the smurfs and I never had demon trouble.

How many magazines a month did you used to throw away???

I threw away all of them, at the most I would place 4 per month, we were encouraged to order around 12 per month, so I threw away 8 per month.

some people ordered way more than that, I wonder how much of the 40 000 000 magazines get thrown out?
