No Mulan, it makes her 67. All that royal inbreeding must be bad for the arithmetical brain!

15th July WT ...Islam is the King of the North??

Just leafed through a copy of the July 15th Watchtower and can't find anything that suggests that Islam is now the KoN. But maybe I've got out of the way of reading between the words. By coincidence my JW mother told me this morning that she's heard that the current understanding og the KoN will be discussed at the DC.
I did notice a nauseating article in a recent Awake about JWs beating local council in Canada who were trying to stop them going door to door without a permit. Ironically they highlighted the judges words who compared the council to Big Brother and a footnote explains what this means. Sound like a description of Elder bodies.

Hypocrite Greenies
by grows1 inthere are many people in the world who consider themselves "green" advocates and "green" friendly.
like john kerry- has 7-8 houses, private jets, @ 6 really big gas guzzling autos, including suv's.
people who talk green but whose lifesytles reveal their true sentiments.

Do you use less than 1,000 KWH a month for a single person or less than 2,000 for a family? Yes
Do you walk where ever you can to save fuel? Yes
Do you use public transportation if it is available? Yes
Do you bunch trips together to save fuel? Yes
Do you use recycled paper? Yes
How about toilet paper made from recycled material? Yes
Do you use glass reusable container instead of plastic? Yes
How about cloth rags instead of paper towels? Yes
And I don't consider myself to be Green.

Put on your copywriter hats...it's ad time!!
by seattleniceguy inokay, so i've been trying to figure out what i can do to help jws out.
obviously, no one can force someone to think, but sometimes a thought-provoking question can get the gears turning.
so i hit upon this idea of placing ads in a weekly newspaper here in seattle.

Some good ideas here. Not so sure about the web address. Could raise the red flag of internet apostasy too quickly. Then again if you're target is liberal dubs it may well work.

Ban on smoking in public places in the UK and todays news
by ball. inireland having just joined the list of countries banning smoking in public places, it has suddenly got media attention here in the uk.. as some of you know, i gave up smoking for a year and a half ago on a thread on this board.
i started again, however, i have always, as smoker and non-smoker, believed that such a ban would mean an infingement on your civil liberties and freedom.. then todays news along with a sad story about a 3 year old who died of obesity:.
obesity has now overtaken smoking as the biggest killer in the uk.. then i wonder, why is this nanny state discussing banning smoking in pubs, when they should be logically banning beer, in light of the new statistics and all the beer belies they show in these news items?

Maybe because you can't passively drink beer but you can passively smoke.

That reminds me of being on holiday with two pioneer sisters in Italy. They insisted on taking photos of a van with Smeg (quality kitchen appliance maker) written on it, for the school friend of one of them who had the same delightful nickname. Took me years to tell these girls that the nickname was short for smegma and that the congregation thought their photos a little weird.

Is it necessary to say to any potential visitors to the UK: Don't go using all these words when you get here. Some are best used only with good friends.
Celtic, you'll get their heads kicked in!

Never heard of "raw ramp." But it sound nasty and painful. I'll be using it next time a Witness crosses my path.

Did Morrissey go too far this time?
by Sirona ini know we've mentioned morrissey's new cd on this forum before, but i don't recall anyone talking about the shocking lyrics of his new album.
i love morrissey and i own all his stuff, but this time i've found myself cringing!
here are some excerpts:.

Well, in analysis of the lyrics - Mozzer's made it fairly obvioulsy how he feels about Dubya in interviews and while living in LA his relationship with American culture is pretty ambivelant so the lyrics are an expression of how he feels. He's clearly not alone.
Forgiving Jesus? Hhmmm... can't quite see the controversy there (unless you're a traditionalist Christian) but understand the sentiment.
Lazy dykes - who is he getting at? God knows, but he's only a musician (although I once thought he was a god)
Sirona, perhaps you'd like to say how you think those lyrics are extreme.
