  Our first Halloween was amazing

  not sure if this is the right forum, if not i apologize.. last night was our first halloween.

  i have to admit, the very idea that somehow it is satanic and that it makes bible god cry seemed immensely foolish as we prepared for it.

  my daughter was dressed as an undead witch and my son was dressed as thomas the tank engine.

  Soft Determinism is at least a little comforting, however I don't know which is right - materialism/non-materialism. Its all very interesting reading though. Have you read W.T. Stace? If I really believed Hard Determinism I'd feel depressed too.

  a jehovah's witness elder who was exposed as a paedophile on facebook has been jailed.. jonathan rose was branded a hypocrite as he was locked up for molesting two little girls he met through the church.. manchester crown court heard that rose, of new moston , won the trust of his victims families before targeting their daughters.

  Thanks for posting this W-F. I hope many who are still JWs read this. More and more stories of the elders ostracising the victim and their families for speaking out are coming to public attention. I am so sorry for the these girls, but aren't they brave. An inspiration.

  he runs disability arts online (dao) a web portal for disabled artists which reviews and showcases their work.. in hambrook's latest autobiographical project, knitting time, he recalls being brought up by a jehovah's witness mother who was mentally ill. she, hambrook and the other jehovah's witnesses they knew, believed that the world was due to end in 1975. this collection of illustrated poetry, and the accompanying art exhibition, explore the psychosis and grief he experienced as a result.. why did you call it knitting time?.

  This artist seems to have fully accepted his illness, and is using his acceptance to help others. There is no sense of shame or guilt, which is wonderful. I'm sure this didn't happen overnight, but it is an inspiration to a lot of us who have experienced mental/emotion pain due to a JW upbringing. I wish him all the best with his book and exhibition.

  ...to my boyfriend, we're going to have one of those weddings ('gay' weddings to the straights).. although my jw family know i'm gay, and not going to meetings, only one of my sisters has sussed the situation.

  but i think after 3 years it's about time i told them.

  especially if sometime in the future i'll turn up with a (gay) wedding ring.

  Great post. I've tried to ban myself from here during study for exams, but I miss you all!

  I've heard quite a few ex-jdubs over the years say things like; 'I'll go back one day', with a kind of sad resignation. The last person who said this to me was a friend of my brother's. It was about a year ago, he was in his mid-thirties, born-in.

  I was horrified and said, 'Oh please don't do that! You're just worshiping the Governing Body, you do realize that, don't you?' This guy looked at me and said, 'The who?'
