  JW's Mentioned on Hannity and Colmes

  i hope i'm not repeating another thread, but i was listening to hannity and colmes on fox last night (thursday) and they mentioned a law suit (in washington state i think) filed by a woman to keep the word "christmas" in the holiday songs.. hannity said this resulted from several jw families that requested that the words be changed so their children could participate and sing the holiday songs.

  the school made the changes and now apparently at least one mother wants the original words put back in.. .

  one of the issues she brought up was that the word hannukah was not removed, only christmas.. .

  Maybe you mis-heard it or Hannity got his story wrong.

  undercover ...

  The part about the JW families requesting the change I definitely heard ....that's what caught my attention immediately. I was surprised too.

  What I wasn't paying particular attention to was the part about the lawsuit being filed.

  It's true that the JW families may not have "requested" it as was mentioned but rather they explained the situation to the school and then the school came back with an offer of not having religious words in the songs.

  Whatever the case, the school is getting sued.

  Cave Art falls under the "pagan origins" category.

  The drawing would depict animals, people, the sun, the moon, etc. Obviously anyone drawing pictures would want to worship them which would constitute idolatry.

  Since they were living in caves with artwork, they obviously were putting their focus on material possessions.

  The time they spent doing the art could have been used more productively, by advancing kingdom interests.

  Such form of pagan communication was a snare of the devil and is obviously a precursor to the Internet.

  How old was Mary when she gave birth?

  i came across some interesting information last week - according to jewish tradition of the time a woman was pledged to be married around 12-13 years old and married around 13-14 years old.

  so this means that mary was probably only 14-15 when she gave birth.. wow - and to think.......i didn't really pull my &hit together until i was 30!.

  anyways - i thought it was interesting - some trivia i didn't know before.

  I read she turned 15 on the 29th of December so technically she was still 14 when she gave birth.

  Marriage and Me

  we are flying off to maui next week and all evidence points to a proposal being offered during our stay.

  i've thought long and hard and i plan to accept as long as the wedding date is after my graduation in june of 2005. .

  many of you offered some sincere heartfelt advice and i read everyones opinions.

  Thinking of becoming a JW - Need urgent honest advice!!!

  i have met a wonderful man but unfortunately he is a jw.

  i have never been interested or really ever been around any religion in my life so all of this right now is very fascinating to me.

  i have been thinking of studying to become one but am also having a hard time finding anything on the net that is positive about it.

  what's the name of that theatre they bought and renovated, the one with the sky and the fake buildings on the side of the theatre room?

  Yes, it's in New Jersey. Jersey City to be exact. About 5 minutes from the Holland Tunnel into Manhatten.

  I took a tour there once and they did a great job refurbishing it i must admit. It's like your back in the 1920's or something. Elegant would be the word.

  Quotes .... good point.

  I must admit, I always thought that 1992 brochure "Does God Really Care About Us" with the building burning in the background and the people laughing and smiling as if someone just told a funny joke went WAY OVER THE EDGE. I found it (and others too) very sick, morbid and quite frankly, disgusting.
