Daniel. Having just returned from Haiti and the Dominican Republic doing Humanitarian Relief and working with orphans there and coordinating the receipt of orphans coming into Canada since the earthquake, I think I have a little better perspective than just your blah blah pithy response.

Interesting how even their lawyer is defending 9 of the accused but did little to defend the ringleader. She seems to have quite the legacy of failed payments to employees, mortgage foreclosures, questionable business dealings. Good Christian...
Were they well intentioned? I think so. Illegal acts? HELL YA.
These people had no right going in Country post disaster. Kidnapping is harsh but if there were a criminal charge for being stupid, they should get the book thrown at them.

by shopaholic inso it appears that jws are letting their freaky side come out on fb for everyone to see.. there was talk on the ca yesterday strongly warning all true lovers of jehovah to delete their fb accounts.
the talk was solely about fb.
the speaker mentioned that jws are associating with people that would not associate with in real life, often using the excuse that the person is a relative.

If you knew how little actual power the Board has you'd be embarrassed to have linked to that site. It is important for a charity to have well connected people on their Board. It isn't all that surprising at all to see execs from various industries on the Board of Governors. However the board has no authority over contracts, operations nor operational decisions.
Also the majority of the money raised is given to the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) for distribution during an International disaster response. The only money kept by the American Red Cross is for missions assigned to them by the IFRC.
The Red Cross by law must detail all their financials to the government and produce an annual report that can be reviewed by donors.
I think you are wise to do research before giving but without the lens of the paranoid.

Unfortunately yes I do think there will be more acts of terrorism visited upon the US.
Part of teh shock of 9-11 was that it happened on US soil. Suicide bombers are a daily threat elsewhere and teh US has bee left relativelt unscathed from such things with the exception of domestic terrorist activities (OK City).
It is this domestic threat that is more likely to escalate in North America than foreign threats IMO. I do really feel the US needs to concentrate more on domestic issues before continuing their world police function they had assigned to themselves.

someone high up in the organization at some point.. i didn't go looking for this, i was rooting around on doc bob's site looking or the baptism questions and i stumbled across this letter that salter wrote to rutherford.. he just comes right out and calls rutherford a liar.

Careful. I wouldn't Canonize him quite yet.
Salter was a thief and screwed around on his wife while hypocritically taking a moral stand against Rutherford and opposing Percy Chapman the then Branch Coordinator in Canada. For him it was more about his ego than morals.
He made off with Real Estate donated to the WTBS. While he may have been right about Rutherford and the Borg, he was no saint.

Santa Claus Parade - Oh so evil
by Uzzah inwell i was in the local santa claus parade today marching along with a few others from one of the local service clubs.
the streets were lined with children bundled up to stay warm, waving at everyone passing by with random shouts of merry christmas coming from their young, happy and eager faces.
older people in wheelchairs, smiling brightly as they watched the floats and tapping their feet merrily to the christmas tunes.. thousands of people coming together laughing, wishing each other well, smiling faces and happy memories being formed of family time together.. christ's birthday or just a family time and tradition doesn't really matter.. i was truly happy today.

Yep these practices are so evil, worthy of condemnation and god's eternal damnation for participating in this type of event.
