by VM44 inthe watchtower does not usually place women in positions of authority.. so, does anyone know if there have been any female medical doctors (any type, md, do or chiro) that worked at bethel recently?.

Feeling sad over a wasted life in watchtower
by wannaexit init's been 12 years since i first read ray franz's books and the scales came off my eyes.
by that time i was in my forties.. since 2002 i went back to school and have worked with 3 very professional organizations.
but my biological clock is ticking away and while my peers are looking forward to retirement, i am only beginning.

I think magnum post sort of sums it up for me. Thankfully I have always been materialistic, so I havnt been to effected there. But I think of all those sacrifices I made and things I missed out on due to a couple of guys in Brooklyn.

It's all coming back...
by SoJo16 ini joined the board this month and holy cow, are there ever some interesting points of view here.. a bit about my background: my dad was an unbaptised born-in who nevertheless went to vietnam and college where he met my mom.
mom was lutheran, but dad told her the only religion he was interested in belonging to was the jdubs.
they married in the early 70s and were both baptized.

Trust me my relatives think that sex abuse in the WTBTS is a wicked apostate conspiracy theory.

candace conti has held out from taking a settlement from the wtb&ts which would require a gag order .

What should the WBT$ do to get on track?
by punkofnice init looks as if the gb are blundering around and really showing themselves up for the buffoons they are.
all the stupidity about tight trousers is laughable and if the general public were to see these selfmportant cult leaders blabbing this stuff then the last shred of their credibility would be destroyed.........perhaps.. the wbt$ seem to have dug themselves into a deep pit of no escape with their lies, new light(tm), paedophile protection and all the other nauseating peripherals they have.. we also suspect that the wbt$ have their spies here because they are either predictable or get ideas form forums like this.. so!
are you listening watchtower(r)?

I think they have to be more open about there past as well as their present policies and procedures.
They have to take full ownership and responsibility for the things they do and say.
What I would like to see them do is help those victims that got screwed over by their policies around sex abuse. Just how big of a problem it is, and weather coming out and admitting to it would bankrupt them is quite a different story.

I guess we can all understand those feeling. I physically walked out of the tower about 14 months ago. Every day that religion plays on my mind. I wasted 40 years of my life. So take comfort your not alone.

Preaching is a waste of time
by konceptual99 inbefore anyone gives me the "bears/wood" similarities, this is a post based on insidethekh's reply on the mormon v jw thread.
(http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/287545/1/who-is-copying-who-jws-or-mormons) i like to see wt friendly posts on here as some of the wt bashing displays the same logical fallacies as levelled against the wts and it's followers so it's good to consider reasoned debate.. on the one hand i think itkh makes a fair point if you compare the worldwide success of mormons v jws but there is an overall context to the preaching work that is completely ignored by those fully "in" and has been a major factor in my move from being an active witness to one on the cusp of getting out.
from a statistical point of view there are great headline numbers presented by the wts but if you put them in the context of the number of witnesses, conversation ratios, ratio of new witnesses to birth rates, numbers that must be leaving, growth differentials across the globe, penetration in muslim nations and so on then these numbers become meaningless.

ISTKHThe one thing I do admire about the LDS is their openness about the issues they are facing. Although I have no proof I would say the attendance figures for JWs would closely align with the LDS. I know when used to do the count at the meetings there we're always a lot away and very rearly did we ever get the total amount of publishers at any one meeting. On the weekends for the Sunday meeting it would be fair to say where were all the young ones. I honestly believe if watchtower was wanting to reach the masses they have to start letting their member set up independent web sites and they have to make better use of social net working. For instance would you buy a car if the car dealer told you not to look on the Internet, because of all the lies from angry ex car owners. Would you also buy that car if all the reviews on that car were overwhelmingly bad, other than the offical manufacturers web site. My argument is if you wouldn't buy a car like that then don't expect someone to choose a religion like that.
