Who watches where the WTS's money goes?
by meglet44 ini've given this site a cursory look and didn't find this particular topic.
so my question is: who makes sure the high ups at the watchtower society aren't lining their pockets with all the money the members contribute?
i asked my jw-raised boyfriend and he said that they were honest people and god was watching over them.

I got tired of looking, but there were pages after pages after pages, and I was checking pages with 99 matches at time. And don't forget, you could view the docs too. Also, the records are updated everyday. I refinanced in Oct. '05 and by Jan. '06 my records were on it.

Hello to all,
Due to lack of time, I have not visited the forum in a long time. However, I had to make time to share this web site which lets you search for NY real estate public records, for individuals and businesses. Check it out. Type Watchtover in the business field, for all boroughs, and see all the properties and mortgage income the Watchtower has. (And I thought they were a non-profit organization).

The WTS has always noted that Jehovah's blessing and approval is seen in the increase of numbers. Therefore, Jehovah must be blessing other religions. Has anyone seen Charles Stanley Congregation in Atlanta Ga? They are Baptists. Or Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston Tx? Boy, these people fill out stadiums! And the numbers keep on growing.

Did You Have A Lot of "Friends" In The Organization?

When I was a JW, I thought I did have friends, but I really never paused to realize that these "friends" never ever called me for any other reason than to get together to practice for a part in the meetings. True, I never called them either, but I had nothing to talk to them about. Once I took the initiative to ask a sister, regular pioneer and also popular, if she could be my partner on the field a few times a week (I was finally planning to actually do spiritual work to see if that brought me happiness, you know like the WTS suggests will happen if you do more spiritually), but the sister plainly said NO, I want to preach with this other sister who just came from another country and she needs friends.
I had another friend, who I liked and still like very much. But she had extremely protective parents. She was taught by her mother that she shouldn't trust another woman with her man. When we were single, I sensed her mother always on my back, kind of watching me around whom ever single brother was trying to get to know my friend. I felt targeted all the time. When my friend got married, that was the end of everything. It was not a spoken separation, but I knew, my friend was not going to sociallize much with me after that. Now that I don't go to the meetings anymore, her parents (who are still extremely influencial in her life) absolutely will discourage any association with me.

How is your congregation doing financially?
by truthseeker inif you still go to the meetings - look at the notice board where they have the accounts report.. is there a deficit?.
our cong wanted to build a new hall (they share), but they cannot raise the funds to do this.
did your cong pay bills on time, i.e.

dido,
when I was going to the KH we used to also make resolutions to send money for a new KH. But I really never knew why WE had to be the ones paying for the hall. Besides, the WT lent the money, and then we had to pay them (with interest) and when the debt it's finally payed, who owns the hall? Do the cong. own it? Or does the WTS own it? If it's the latter one, then I guess they're ripping us off.
Does any one knows for sure how it works?

Being a JW Woman - Was It Really That Bad?
by eljefe ini have seen quite a few posts from many ex-jw women about how unhappy they were about male domination in congregation.
was it really that bad?
when i was still a jw, no one ever told me anything to that effect.

The treatment given to women among the JWs is bad, sad and upsetting too.
However, there are also a few families in which the wife professes to be submissive to her husband, when in reality, behind doors, she is the one wearing the pants.
My mom was one. She looked like a humble, never-hurt-a-fly, goody-two-shoes, lamb, but when she got home, she would tear my father appart with her nagging, telling him what he should have said to so-and-so, or why he said what he said to so-and-so, why didn't he say something to so-and-so, etc........on many occasions over their marriage (my dad passed)...I've seen my mom kick my dad under the table when she didn't think my father should open his mouth to say something.
She is not the only one....I've seen other "submissive" sisters do the same to their husbands.
You know what's ironic? The elders in our cong. didn't think my father qualified to be an elder. Gee, I wonder why?

Yes, I know what you mean, but still....I felt rejected, it kind of sounded like what he was saying was totally aside from his misfortune. Anyways, his daughter is been well after her breast removal. According to my mother who spoke to her in the last small convention, she is not in danger for now.

Hi everyone,
I've recently found out that a JW friend of mine has cancer. She knows I don't go to the meetings anymore, but she's cool about it. I wanted to speak to her, to let her know how concerned I am, that to me she still my friend and that I want to help in any way I can. But, since she was not home, I tried to call her parents home to see if she was there. Well, her father answered. He is an elder. I must say that he sounded EXTREMELY depressed and sad. He barely wanted to speak, but somehow made an effort and told me that with Jehovah's strengh, his family is going thru this hard time the best they can. I encouraged him not to loose hope, that God gives everyone the strengh to go thru life's problems, etc.
Now, I have not spoken to this family for years. Do you know what this man asked me? He asked me, not how am I doing,or how's my family is doing , instead he asked: Are you going to the meetings?
When I told him that I am not going to the meetings, he said I should read Deuteronomy 30: 15-20 , Isaiah 55: 6 and Ezekiel 33: 11.
I cannot comprehend for the love of God, how can someone who's going thru so much pain be so insensitive. In other words, he said: I will be destroyed. Period. Nice way to make me want to come back!!!
