Is it possible for a child to be exposed to JWism and not be damaged by it?
by Mickey mouse inwhat do you think?
were you raised as a jw and feel you suffered no ill effects?
or do you feel it had a negative impact on your life?.

And there can also be outside help that factors into the equation too.
Take my Mom and Uncle for instance, both were raised JW, but my uncle seems relatively unscathed by it all, while my Mom's whole life has been heartache.
The difference being that my Uncle was able to get a really decent paying job with the help of my grandpa, while my Mom was excluded from that. My Mom had to work low paying jobs for long hours in order to support us, my Uncle "lucked out" and got a high paying job almost directly out of high school.
My uncle also found a good wife and that in itself goes a long way. My Mom's husbands worked against her, instead of with her.
My Uncle was also allowed more leeway in high school than my Mom and was allowed to play school sports. Alot of the extra curricular activities helped prepare him for life. -

Something else too I have noticed is that some people seem to have escaped it well, but when you dig deeper, they really did not escape as untouched, as was originally thought.

For some reason, my granny made jiffy mix cornbread, she was the only one in the family to make it that way. She made the best biscuits and gravy, the best fried chicken, the best pies, everything she made was so good, but for some reason she always made jiffy mix cornbread. She was from Carter County, perhaps that was the diviing line where the yellow meal ended and the white meal began. Either way she was a good cook.

Don't forget the fried cabbage or the wilted lettuce and onions.

Ok Snowbird, for the casserole itself, yeah Yellow would be better, but for just plain cornbread, we mountain folk use white meal. Martha White is good, but Dorsal's brand out of Kentucky is the best for cornbread.

As an Appalachian American whose family came from deep in Eastern Kentucky, I can say that I was raised up on beans and cornbread, but the cornmeal must be white, and the bread itself no thicker than 1 inch. Golden brown (almost burnt) on bottom, and slightly greasy.
I believe this casserole you are talking about is mostly a midwest thing as my Ky family never fixed it, but my Illinois stepgrandma made it several times, and yes it is delicious.
I am going to attempt to make this myself. -

Why all Christianity is repulsive to me
by portcontrol7 inthe crux of all christianity is that an omnipotent and loving god sent a human sacrifice to atone for the sins of a (fictional) man, knowing full well that he would be horribly tortured and mocked.
if that god existed (which i'm grateful he/she/it doesn't), i would be proud to oppose it.
there are 3 main types of christians in my opinion:.

Well portcontrol07, if you hate Christianity that much, that puts you at odds with 75%+ of the population, you aren't much different than you were as a JW. That would make you an outcast still.
