Mostly, it's number 5 - they want two witnesses to everything. And of course, like Prisca said, they can't visit a sister alone, lest the lustful wench seduce them.

When You Were A Witness, Did You Ever Want To Go To Heaven?
by minimus insince it's very close to the memorial celebration, i thought that this question might be appropriate.
did you ever feel that you might just want to go to heaven???
or was your future only an earthly one?
-
rocketman
While I never really desired heaven, lv4 makes a good point - life on earth in the "new world" might not suit a lot of folks if indeed the trend would be back to the horse and buggy days.
Hey minimus, maybe we should call it "Geheaven"

Wanted: King of the North
by metatron inemployment opportunity for aggressive candidate.
"king of the north" needed to fufill fading hopes of apocalyptic cult.. applicant should be aggressive, willing to discipline actions to pre-recorded.
prophecy and able to assume risk of total destruction by most heavily armed.

Funny post metatron. Good one.
And I agree with Neonmadman - the US and the Soviet bloc were always West and East, respectively. So the WTS compass always seemed a bit off.
My latest observations about King Of The North: France is now a candidate, since it's definitely on the US crap list. Of course, maybe North Korea is vying for a shot at the title - at least they have the name "North" in their national designation.

Blondie, thank you for the review and for all the research you do. Your efforts are much appreciated!
This is, as all have already mentioned, an obvious attempt to get the number of partakers more into line with jw-think.
We had a sister in this area who years ago was partaking. Many people questioned her understanding of the anointing teaching, and her motives I think were questioned as well. And as Blondie points out, the article is again questioning motives, implying that perhaps they seek prominance and glory. By the way, from what I heard a while back, that sister no longer partakes. I guess she kind of got talked out of it.

What Was The Final Straw That Made You Leave The Organisation?
by SpannerintheWorks inas a faithful and zealous witness, nothing can question your faith.
but one day, something does!
you begin to have doubts.

Some very compelling experiences here. Alan F, I it's cool to read about what the final straw was for you, after having read several of your essays, which by the way played a role in my greatly decreased level of activity. And Scully, what happened with you was really very sadly indicative of the jw way of thinking. By the way, I love your use of the TM!
For me, there were a variety of factors. But getting back to Alan F's essays, itw as not long after I placed a Creation book with a friend at work that I started reading Alan's essays. You see, that friend handed the book back to me and told me tactfully that it was very biased, whereas all along I thought it was well-written. When I checked into it, and found those essays, I realized how intellectually dishonest the book, and hence its publishers, were.

One Reason Jws Can Be Duped Easily
by rocketman inwhat i am about to state here has been said many times before in various ways, but i am offering some observations that i made as a bookstudy conductor over a period of 12 years, 9 of those as an elder, and before that as an ms filling in.. i was the type of conductor who would attempt to 'probe beneath the surface' as it were, when i conducted.
i was often amazed and sometimes a bit frustrated (though i tried never to be impatient with the people there) by the lack of comments at the bookstudy that would offer anything more than just a re-read of what the paragraph said.
i realize that many folks have busy lives and of course have little time for extra thought or research.

Birthdays - I may need some input
by rocketman inwe had a birthday "party" for my daughter at a local restaurant today, with a group of her friends invited.
we are "inactive" but i still attend some meetings.
i do not comment or want any 'privilages'.. anyway, one person whom my daughter invited is a jw, though she has said that she may want to get out soon.

Artful, thank you for the research! Excellent point too, and yes, I noted that the article never really answered the question. It seems to be another case of them picking and choosing which celebrations they want to ban.
Eyebrow, over the past three years, I have in effect worked myself into a position whereby the can do liittle at all to me. By having no privilages, there's nothing they can take away or use as leverage against me, so that's the nice part about this. You made a good point - what can they do? Not much. I got very tired of being held hostage to privilages - over the past 25 or so years I've had certain things bestowed and then taken away as punishment. After a while, it gets very tiring.

Truth, you said "should Jehovah's Organization be any different" (no question mark).
Yes, it should be. It claims to be, very emphatically in fact.
