wallievase,
Greetings. Like Ding I've sent you a PM. Follow his directions, esp. the part about maybe having to reclick after you get into the mailbox.
this is my first post after deciding to finally open an account here after months of 'lurking'.. a couple of issues i want to address-.
i have issues with people who go from being a witness to losing all faith in god or the bible which seems to be the case with some members of this site.
i just don't think you can let any religion change how you view god or the bible.. second-i don't feel the gb are bad people, i think most witnesses including them are misguided by something that has been drilled into their heads since they were little and are actually sincere people.
wallievase,

ever since i was a little boy i've been aware of this vague story about my older sister having some issues at birth, but never knew the details.. yesterday i was having a conversation with a much older cousin, who is a non-practicing jw about different watchtower issues.
while discussing the blood issue she totally came out with the story about my sister, which i never knew before.. when my sister was born some 40 years ago, my mother had the delivery at home with the help of a midwife.
i'm not entirely sure why this decision was made instead of going to a hospital.
redvip,
So is your sister a practicing Witness now?
for anybody attending a international convention .. 5 body of elders letters just leaked .
"applicant instructions".. ********************.
applicants must be exemplary in every respect, including dress and grooming.
Good thing I have black jeans—I was really worried!
James 2:1-4 must be HEAVILY weighing on the GB's mind.
Cedars,
Would you mind explaining what you mean more fully when you say, " I also think that Watchtower has become more radicalized over the past twenty years or so." What do you mean by "radicalized," especially in the context of the cartoons? How does this liberalization, if I may call it that, jibe with all the rampant conservatism observable elsewhere?
Thanks.
yup got a voice mail bright and early this morning "grumblecakes, we would like to schedule a shepherding call".. how do i get outta this?.
.
thanks!!

Wow, so against all the counsel from the borg active Witnesses in good standing keep this board up?
What's up with this? Is the GB finally relenting or what?
a comprehensive new book:.
"the good... the bad... the deceptive.... and worse!
an expose".
Right on slimboyfat! This thing reeks of egotism...
One could have predicted the sort of comments provided by PaintedToeNail (and thank you for them!). This sort of "exposé" will likely do more harm than good to those who can think critically. It is the same as protesting at a district convention, that is, play right into the hands of the borg leaders. They will say, "Look at what an egotistical hack this guy is." And they will be right!
One need not provide all the hype in a feeble attempt to add credibility. Letting the fact just speak for themselves is all that's needed. Doing more will just backfire.

hi folks.
one of the elders was sent to our house to talk to me the possibility of being recommended as elder.
he did not know however that one of the elders who is a friend of mine had already divulged this future meeting.
Well, ProfCNJ, now that you've read still more of the wonderful experiences of being an elder, aren't you happy you turned it down?? Your last reason was the most conscientious and moral—congratulations.
As for a scriptural reason, you might try 1 Tim. 3:1 and stress the first word: "IF any man is reaching out..." I remember a brother working with me in service, and while we were going from house to house, I pointed out the "if" here, and he stopped dead in his tracks. He was so imbued with the WT party line that every male MUST be reaching out that he was stunned. I asked him, if we all should, then why does the passage say, "If?" Of course, he couldn't answer. If there is a supposed party line answer, it is probably something like, "Well, Jehovah recognizes that there will always be some male derelicts in the congregation. That's why the 'if' is there."
I know one elder who stepped down after he kept being forced into the mold that he could not play, sometimes due to his disagreeing with the politics and party line. He had to go thru all the humiliation and gossip about why he was deleted. The BOE tried to mitigate this by reappointing him immediately as a MS, but it still went on. It was better for you not to put yourself thru what he had to.
