!, can anyone point me in the direction of the watchtower quote, you know the one about "the end coming within this 20th century" only to find the wt bound year volume had been changed to something like " "the end coming very soon " or to that effect.

Buy his book "The Gentile Times Reconsidered". In it there is a chapter that talks about how the WTS treated him for speaking out about his research on the faulty 1914 chronology.

by freedom96 inever notice how as a witness, you could not say "god" by itself.
always had to be preceeded by jehovah, or just say jehovah.
i remember my ex telling me that was the first sign that they knew i was on the way out, because i would refer to god simply as, "god".

I noticed in the New Testament that the Bible writters referred almost always to God as Lord (including the 237 times the WTS arbitrarily inserted "Jehovah" even though the greek word Lord appears), even though the WTS referred to God simply as Lord in the first 50 years. I guess Rutherford wanted to take away from Jesus as much attention as possible, so they altogether stopped using the title "LORD" (which could be used interchangeably with God or Jesus), and started referred to God as Jehovah and Jesus by his own name. As a result, today the WTS probably gets more attention than Jesus, since in many articles the word "Organization" appears more often than Christ or Jesus.

what kind of mind-control ?
by grace4u ini need help in finding out just what kind of mind control the jw's use on their members.
i have never been a jw, and need some specifics on this to help my sister, who is a jw.. just what kind of fear tactics did they instill upon you, and other ways of mind controlling?.
i know all the doctrines from research i have done, but not really sure on the specific things they said to keep you in, not listen to outsiders, and fear from leaving the orginization.. you all are so helpful in these posts, and i know you all will give me some great info.. thanks so much, grace4u
