To some extent, yes, it is the POWER issue. Power is for sure an elixur stonger than money to those who've had it. Also, yes, they are a product of their own cult mindset. I garuntee Rutheford and Russel gained financially. Besides, you think the stock they own in the Corporation doesn't give them some pocket change?

hello all, registered just to post this and see what you all had to say about this.

it was anounced today on "extra" and they said we would soon see a change in his music because he was "marrying his music to his religion.

There is one flaw in your logic about TAFKAP not being a JW. You assume that the Society is consistent in it's application of morally shepherding "the flock". as long as there is the potential of The Publisher Formerly Known As the Artist Formerly Known as Prince (TPFKATAFKAP) of sending large sums of moeny for the WORLD WIDE WORK or of his fame drawing other hapless souls into thier clutches the Society will wink at most of if not all his music. Also, someone said his music will start reflecting his religious convictions, does this mean he'll start singing "Kingdom Melodies" on his tours? ARRRGGHHHH!
Besides, looking at Morality, given Michael Jackson's history, and that of many Elders, mikey at least qualifies to be a MS maybe even a CO. (How many kids has he abused?)

Update on elders visit.......

well as a few here know, and for those who dont i've had an ongoing study with a few of the elders from my wifes congregation.. i was quite suprised when one of the elders, i think the less experienced one asked the following question of me.. what is your purpose for getting together for this study, as it seems obvious to me that your not willing to be open minded concerning what we have to share with you today?.

i responded that his question really hurt my feelings, and that he shouldnt assume that i wasnt open to what they had to share, simply because i checked everything they shared with scripture.. i pointed out that the bereans did the same when paul preached.

i went on to explain that his statement made me feel as if it wasnt about my salvation that they were concerned about, but getting me to become a member of the orginization.. needless to say the older of the two stepped in and tried to dance his way out of this uncomfortable situation, by putting me at ease and trying to reassure me that my salvation was the subject, and not membership in the society.. they seemed to become uncomfortable everytime i used the word society, this i couldnt understand.

well friends, it's been nice, but just like the society this board was created for, it has deterioted, far worse than h20 or any of the other boards out there, a certain element here continue to bring down this forum to the lowest of lows, and i no longer have the patience to sift through the garbage and hate incited threads to find something worth while contributing too.

Well, interesting topic. Some would say this doesn't apply to business transactions, but rather to loaning some one in need some money. Undecided on that issue. I don't have enough money to loan at interest. I borrowed money from my folks and insisted on paying them 6% interest.

Hmmmm, seems to me that the WTBTS was charging interest to the local congregations for Building KH's curious.
