Actually, both Greek and Hebrew have numerical equivalants to the letters. Ceasar Nero, in Greek, adds to 666, in Hebrew, it is 616, some variant texts read 616 not 666.
Ceasar Nero stabbed himself in the throat (a head wound?) And many beleived Diocletian was the resurrected Nero. Curious stuff, just one more option to think about.

can someone please tell me exactly what constitutes a df'ing offence?.
i recently read a post where someone said that they were df'd for committing "adultery in the heart", someone else for gambling, someone else for smoking etc etc.
it's all very puzzling, back in the 60's the wtbts had a down on "petting and necking" but it wasn't df'able.

I get the feeling that it's not a DFing offense if you're an Elder or CO/DO.

today, april 20th, is the fourth anniversary of a very special day in my life.. the anniversary of my rebirth.. this rebirth was not a religious experience, but it was something totally pure, amazing and healing.. it had nothing at all to do with the society, or rather, of freeing myself from it.
it was however, a giant first step in that direction.. today is the fourth anniversary of the day i got letter that changed everything.
the words on the pages were alive, and magical: they released me from my old life and for the first time.

i have two questions, mostly for commited christians, though i'm sure somehow, that others will reply too.. 1) does prayer change god or his mind?.
2) if not, why pray?.
i have my own opinion on the subject, but i may be adjusting my understanding of god.. have fun!.
Actually, NO, I did expect to hear some say that prayer doesn't change God's mind, I still am not sure I think it does. I honestly think prayer is for us. As to God not intervening in human affairs, no, the bible doesn't say that, in fact, the bible is the story of how God is INTIMATELY involved in human affairs. God is a God of History and the bible is the story of His History in human affairs. Does prayer help you ask? Actually a scientific study was done where the subjects (sometimes even just plants, usually though patients) were prayer for, and a control group also (presumedly) not prayed for. In all cases (even the plants) those who were prayed for recovered faster than those not prayed for, even if they were not aware of the prayers for them (which would be the case with the plants).

since god is omniscient (knows all, knows the end from the beginning) he already knew abraham would go through with it unless god stopped him.
what was the purpose of this test?.
MusicmanCA came the closest to what I beleive is the answer to this quandry. The test wasn't to prove something to God, but rather to prove to Abraham the depth of his faith. To an extent it was for Issac as well. Issac knew what was going to happen and was obedient. This was an act of faith from both Abraham and Issac. Thus James is proven right, Faith, without works doesn't have power. The works that accompany faith are not to prove anything to God, but rather, to us. It also foreshadowed that God DID infact sacrafice HIS Son for us. Jesus is the ultimate in the action of faith. Obedient to the cross because of His faith.

Abraham was tested by God in the sacraficing of Issac, God being omnicient, he already knew the outcome, didn't he? So what was proved?
