waiting: Don't spit in the wind.
This would depend on who is doing the spitting. ;)
i thought it might be interesting to see how much of the worldly wisdom we have aquired .there are alot of quaint sayings that go way back in time here are some of my favorites to give an example - an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure , a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush ,what's good for the goose is good for the gander .feel free to add your favs .

any ex-jw's from these areas.
i have lots of family in paintsville ky area and i lived there for 3 years and attended the salyersville ky cong.
i have lived in knoxville area for the last 6 years, but dont have any witness connections here, or even family.
My ex #1* and his family all live in Sevierville and Gatlinburg and his ancestors were forced to move out of the area that became The Great Smokey Mountain National Park. My mother-in-law is a full-blooded Cherokee Indian. When I moved there, I wanted to really experience the history of the area and, by cracky, I did. I used an outhouse for the first time in my life (a very scary experience - it was tilting into a creek).
I hope that exjws in the area will respond to you.
Best to you,
Dottie
**Ex #2 is from Knoxville.

Hi JG, WELCOME!!!
I lived in Knoxville from 1979 -1985 and have ex-in-laws there. Also, my grandsons live in Seymour, which is just south of Knoxville. Unfortunately, I now live California, but please feel free to contact me. There is a poster, Stephie, who now lives in Knoxville, I think. Hopefully, she will see your thread...

My mother used say something about getting more from honey than vinegar. Being kind rather than being nasty is much more productive. My mother said a lot of good and wise things and I've come to appreciate that since she died. She was a special lady.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOO HOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after a year of doubting if i would ever be free from feeling ties to the wt, i am proud to be known as an apostate.
before i was so concerned with what some of the "friends" , would think of me, how they would think the worst of me for being an apostate.
now i hope they do think about me,,,,,,,, i hope they know i want nothing to do with most of them.
(((((lyin)))))) You are the sweetest apostate I've ever run across!
Okay, let me know if I'm wrong about this because I'm not near a dictionary. Is an apostate someone who knows about God and leaves him? If that's the case, I can't join your ranks, because I still believe in God.
If by ''apostate' you mean turning away from the wt org, okay, I can be an apostate, too! But, I do it reluctantly because I hate the idea that I give a cult that much credit.
p.s. When am I gonna get your request for a dish cloth?
how do you feel about yourself?
do you struggle with what kind of person that you are?
do you feel happy, empty, or are are you apathetic?
Mac, I was wondering if you wanted me to embroider your name or the name you call your penis. I haven't embroidered for a long time, but I think I can handle the cross stitch.
Do you think I could sell these on E-Bay?
this is my first introduction post and my second post all together.
i hid in the corner for some time, just watching.
i was raised from about the age of five in the "truth".
Welcome!
my most painful confession
note to simon: i will use some expletives, but i hope that they will be retained as this is intended to be an otherwise civil and thoughtful post to all my fellow ex-jws.
please read on, as this is most painful.
(((((((((((Jim)))))))))) You are an Amazing poster and I can't tell you how much I am going to miss you. This board won't be quite the same without you. You gave so much.
This pains me to see you leave and I would very much like to keep in touch with you.
Your friend,
Dottie
