Just an idea - tell her there's supposed to be a show about JW's on "the Fifth Estate" CBC (Canada) next Wed. 9 o'clock if you get it in your neck of the woods. I think it's the type of show that will make some think.
But don't push too hard, maybe CofC is enough for now. If she begins to think you're trying to take her out she may decide she has to cut off the relationship.

Offer to consider it together in your family study. Seriously, don't know your situation,. but maybe you could offer to read a page of two to her every night. Then again, maybe it would be preferable to let her take her own time. Get her interested in other activities. Take her out. Above all be patient, it works!

This is from our local study group:
When she awoke one morning a sister remembered her time of the month was at hand and realised she had forgotten to replenish her supply of sanitary napkins. She was considering cancelling her morning of service when she heard the mailman. To her great surprise and delight, upon checking her mail, she saw a little package with a complementary sample. You guessed it. She was able to go to the group and related how Jehovah had come to her help just in the nick of time. A couple of sisters looked at her and said "Jehovah sent everyone a sample this morning" Thing is, I don't think she got it.

Looks like you're in a real pickle:
If you become a JW because you believe it and then happen to get married to this person, you guys might be happy.
If you become a JW to get married to this person you probably both wont be happy in the long run.
If you dont become a JW and get married to this person, the JWs wont like it and youll probably both have a hard time.
If your friend leaves the JWs to marry you this person will probably want to return to the JWs in the long run.
If your friend leaves the JWs to marry you, and doesnt want to return, youll be dealing with an ex-JW who will probably be posting on JW.com (something a JW in good standing is not supposed to do)
I've seen all of the above. Do you really want to get involved?

Your point CA (if each is sincere and believes in God?)
JW's believe other may be sincere, but if they don't serve Jehovah and attend the Kingdom Hall, they are wrong and will be destroyed by Jehovah.
I think the biggest concern of the JW directors (the Watchtower) is that, in the long run, the JW has a good chance of being pulled down (out) of his/her faith by the non-JW. And a Bible verse backs up this philosophy 1 Cor 15:33 (a little leaven ferments le lump). Now that I have left I believe many of their quirks, like not celebrating holidays or associating with non-believing family or co-workers, are actually imposed to keep their members WATCHOWER-TRUCKING. Unfortunately you could never convince a practising JW on this point.
The favourite Bible verse used by the JW to impose JW same-religion marriage is 1 Cor 7:39 'get married in the Lord only' translated 'in the TRUTH (JW's) only'. They also use 2 Cor 6:14 and call the union of two different animals under the same yoke a bad match.

Strangest thing you were called on the carpet for.
by Icansaylucky ini would like to hear some of the strangest or most ridiculous thing you got in trouble with the elders for.
here is mine.. back in the early 70's i was married at the age of 18, typical witness thing to do.
my husband who was 6 years older than i ruled me like a overly strict father.

An elder phoned and told me he was coming over with another elder. My sin: someone had reported I had been in service to conduct a home Bible study without a tie. It puzzled me to know who had observed me because I hadnt gone to the group but had gone directly to the study. I told the elders I believed Jesus referred to such situations when he mentioned the helpful person offering to remove the straw from the eye of another. When I asked to know the identity of the helpful soul they refused to divulge his/her name. I told them I thought their time would be better spent dislodging timbers than plucking straws.
Another time as a MS I made the mistake of confiding my feelings to an elder. I told him the congregation was really upset with a "phantom elder" who was always out pursuing worldly interests and more or less never around. I told him I thought the EB should do something about it and that I was planning on talking to the CO at his next visit.
Shortly after, I was summoned and got my spiritual thrashing in the library with the CO and EB all present. I was given the old 'broken clock tells right time twice a day' illustration. Learned my lesson; gotta keep the broken clocks around. Even if you dont like it shut your trap and wait on Jehovah. Don't even think of criticizing an elder especially if you seem to be right.

ClassAvenger - If you're thinking of dating a JW, forget it, don't get involved. The JW will be studying, preparing, going to meetings, going door-to-door and refusing, on religious grounds, to do practically everything you would like to do. Unless you become a JW too your life will be a lonely one. Everyone here will urge you not to become a JW; read on if you want to know why; better yet... just RUN!

Anyone Here Lost Their Inheritance To The WT?
by Englishman ini have.. i hadn't even realised it until i had a conversation with my brother last summer.
our dad was a proffesional man who could command a good income whilst he worked.
trouble is, that he would listen to all the 1975 "end of the system" nonesense and then become motivated to serve where the need was great.

Know where youre coming from E-man. My dad quit his job and cashed out his pension around 1975. Later he had to find a job and ended up working at K-Mart. Mom has told me he gets under $20/month pension from K-Mart. My sister, who is dfd, was informed she is cut out of the will. But from where I stand us kids will probably be paying funeral expenses.

Getting over the "Imperfect Org" defe...
by confuzcious in.
hey guys,.
i was wondering if you have a response when you present stuff about pedo, un, rutherford, etc, and a jw says, "well they are imperfect people.. the last respons i got was, only jesus was ever the perfect channel of god - which of course i agree.. but it's like if you ever bring up anything about anything, the stock response is, "we'll it's an imperfect organization.... your response???.

The Bible writers were imperfect men. However, if what they wrote could be classified as imperfect (full of errors)...let us lay the Bible aside and search for other guidance.
When we hear the excuse of imperfection (error) attributed to the FDS today it is never in relation to their personal human tendencies but is always used to explain the erroneous prophecies and comprehensions written down in their publications.
Is this type of imperfection (error in the sacred duty of communicating God's purposes and truths) excusable or acceptable for the self-proclaimed mouthpiece of the God of Truth. Would it not be wise to lay aside the publications of the "imperfect" FDS and seek other guidance? Furthermore is it fitting for the FDS to impose its "imperfect" non-inspired views on all JWs and moreover sanction those not fully agreeing with their comprehension of the moment?
