Hey, Maxee,
What an interesting court discussion.
So, unity of the organization is worth disfellowshipping a person for correct thinking - just because the Society hasn't thought of the correct thinking yet.
Utterly fascinating.

below is a link to infidels.org for their web page entitled logic & fallacies.
it provides some good reading about sound reasoning and good arguments.
the main page (which is not the provided link) is an introduction to atheism.
Thanks, Friend,
I've gone to this site before (thru H20) and printed out all I could. Takes time to digest and put into practice, however.
There's tons of information on what to look for in an argument. H20 posters kept referring to the "Straw Man" and I didn't know what they were talking about - saw it at Logic. Good discussion.

Dear Friend and Frenchy,
Deep thoughts, thank you both.
"I do not want to be one on Jehovah's Witnesses anymore - I do not agree with the Governing Body's teachings. I want to exercise my freedom of speech and tell others my conclusions based upon my personal study of the Bible. I am not lying, cheating, stealing, committing fornication, etc. I love God and Jesus."
If Armageddon arrives next week and I still feel in my heart this way, according to the Bible, will God kill me? According to the WTBTS's published teachings, implied wording or direct, will God kill me?
For 30 years as a dedicated servant of Jehovah, I have been taught, whether implied or implicite, God will kill me. That is one reason we try so hard to keep our children in The Truth. We don't want God to kill them. This statement is made from a mother's heart - not a debate forum.
Thanks, Frenchy, a good post.
Dear Friend,
I know we are taught that God is the final judge, but around here, the spin has always been as follows: "When you get in the new system after Armageddon, and look around - you might see brother so-and-so. You look surprised and say, 'well, I sure didn't think HE would make it!' But then that brother has the same surprised look on his face when seeing YOU for the first time.' Jehovah is the final judge."
We have, at least the times I've heard it, applied that scripture of Paul's about running the race to the finish so that we might not somehow be found lacking to ourselves. And if God found us lacking, even if we were Jehovah's Witnesses, God would kill us.
I've never heard comment #3 you quoted above referred to worldly people. After all, "Jesus was saying that we should not be judging one another."
That sentence does not refer to worldly persons. That sentence does refer to Christians and that Christians were not to judge each other.
As for the question about millions of dead persons, you were the first one to bring forth that quote, not Frenchy. I remember because, like you said, it's a red herring.

is it possible to do all that is required as a witness?
if one were to put down on paper all that is required to carry out, both with secular work and a good spiritual routine, is it even possible to do all that one is "supposed" to do?.

Hey, Katchoo,
Glad to meet you, read your other post also.
My 3 kids were raised in the truth. My girl, beautiful, smart, (rather snotty) and married at 18 to a ministerial servant and divorced and disfellowshipped at 21. I pushed her to be baptised at 16 - she was not ready for either.
I didn't push my two others, one got baptised, one didn't. Neither are in the truth.
They are all great kids - motivated and getting along well (as can be expected for snots) in their careers, lives, and calling their mother.
Take care, I've talked to very few teenagers who like their lives - in or out of the truth. But your talking about school sounded so much like my kids, trying to slightly fit in or be made fun of.
When my son decided to go forth with music, he did, and made friends. He never made friends easily anywhere (like his mother). The JW's at his school really gave him a hard time - almost unforgiveable in their cruel gossip.
He was so hurt by their insidious remarks. Young people can be go cruel to each other when one doesn't fit in - and it's so unnecessary - look at us - we don't fit well together, does it really matter?
Welcome here. By your looking for an option other than isolating yourself does tend to show a positive outlook. Hang in there, girl.
if you see me cry .
if you see me cry, just walk away, .
leave me be and don't ask me why.
Dear Frenchy,
Because of my background, my dreams usually are vivid and violent. When trying to restructure my memories and using self hypnosis, I learned that immediately upon waking, really while still half asleep, I could gently go back into the dream, and still be semi awake.
I found that after I'd been physically sick a couple of days, I could do the same thing because long drawn out pain rather makes the brain "fuzzy", or thinking seems half asleep.
My therepist said that it wasn't that uncommon because when the brain is "fuzzy", the conscious and sub-conscious boundries can be blurred and fascinating things can occur. I found that I could remember, and source, unique information.
Try walking gently in your mind while half asleep, the journey's not necessarily bad.
BTW, always enjoy your poetry, jokes, and story.
Now you tell us that you can write songs - does it ever end??????
Dear Frenchy,
Your point on "rare" quotes is well taken. I've been given that response before, and didn't know how to respond adequately.
Your reference to the rareness of Biblical quotes for strong beliefs holds merit. Other churches do this too.
Look forward to your new thread.

Thanks for the paragraph. Never thought about there being a diving financial advisor. Thought that's what bankers are - at least my gay banker thinks he is divine.

Hey 7,
What are you talking about? Have you been somehow offended by my saying that Friend can post well, even eloquent, postings on H20 and other places? It doesn't mean I like him - but it does mean I recognize he can throw words together better than I can.
The quote I was referring to was calling all sides to think about the blood issue. I have no problem with that. Now, he may be privy to advance material from the Society that I may not be, but give the man credit where it is due.
He has run me in circles in his debates - and I THINK I've learned to qualify my statements better. However, my statements themselves have not changed - MOST make sense.
At least, no matter who Friend is and where he posts, I'll be forwarned to be qualitive in my statements - and that's not such a bad thing, is it?
After all, at least in my neck of the woods, JW's are famous (unqualified) for making wide generalizations, particularily about what the Society teaches. I used to get so tired of being the "rebuttal answerer" during the WT studies. "If we will look in par.., line..., 3rd word over....the Society is not saying......."
See ya.
Hey, Roaming,
Simon keeps us civil (his word). Hence, Civil Simon. Now, doesn't that just exude British accent?

Dear Roaming,
Just an observation, when posting to Martini, you said: "get people in and convince them to contribute their income."
I've never been around that idea - care to elaborate with WT source?
We have been taught to keep our lives simple - and that translates, much of the time, to keeping our time at work, i.e. our income, to a minimum.
I'll agree that contributions are asked for - but I was raised a Catholic - and they published how much each family gave each year in a journal and gave it to every member. That was in my parish, and not necessarily in all others.
Thanks, free cat.
