My Bible Study

i have two bible studies at present.

one of these is an xmormon.

he has been out of the lds for over a year now.

I've run into Mormons in service - and I'd cringe everytime. They could talk circles around me and they and I knew it.

I've never understood their religion - at all. However, in several books on cults, Mormons are listed right in there with Jehovah's Witnesses. Hope your study goes well.

There really is a great feeling studying the Bible, and actually discussing it. Makes you work hard, doesn't it. I hope so, because I had one like that - and prepared harder for that study than any meeting. The study did not come into the organization - but I really enjoyed my time with that woman - she made me think.

What should I do?

i have pioneered for over four years.

i have three children and a wife who at times has severe back problems.

i have worked two jobs just to stay ahead of the bills and provide for my family.

SC, back to your post about the sister who is being physically abused by her husband. It' easy to say "get out." Very hard to do. There probably are private or state agencies to help her if she wants to talk, leave, or file charges.
Please encourage her to get in touch with them - show her how and help her if necessary.

In our congregation, the last comment I remember being reiterated during the Watchtower study dealing with abuse was that a sister could approach the elders for counsel. But a very fine elder openly commented during this religious study, that this didn't mean for things "like slaps and stuff like that."

I can't find the polite words to comment, nor could I then (I'm sorry to say). Please encourage your wife and take the lead yourself in helping this sister in any way you can - she needs help.

Frenchy's the coolest (besides the other brothers here) - read his poetry. I have none - so I embarrass him because he's so good.

This is a nice place to talk. There are other good forums too, (TINA - private conversation)but Simon keeps us "civil."

And no one provides "suggestions", neat, huh?

Welcome, again, what's it like in Israel? I was in an elevator with my girlfriend (from a VERY small town)and two young women from Israel- I was dying to crack a joke about bombing and such but my girlfriend hit me in the ribs. Snickered all the way to the top of the Twin Towers in NY - we were visiting the Society's headquarters at the time. Boy, those were the good old days, huh?

I've regained my sense of humor with life since yesterday - and BTW, I am a woman and she was "just" a girlfriend.

stuart little saves his family in fact, it's on right now - but i've seen it at least half dozen times - it's great.. this movie laughingly goes into really serious sh*t. and it handles it well.

a great movie to appreciate how most families are - to one degree or another.

A note to my elder 'friends'

' years ago you could prance up to the platform, stand behind the mic, and declare, 'brother parrish has been disfellowshipped' and no one would talk to me.

but those days are over my 'friends,' because there are many who talk to me anyway in spite of what you've said.

Just visited your site. I have visited it before - and left confused. You obviously have written many articles and books - why was the wording of your first post to this forum so out of touch with your website and the post about Revelation? It really reads like two different people are involved. Are there? I think H20 gets into situations like that.

I probably would have been more interested if the abrasiveness of your post wasn't so apparent.

Heard any good jokes lately? We come here for relief and to talk - and to be civil.

That's such a cool word Simon used for this forum. We don't use it much in the USA - in Alaska where I am residing - but just like real conversation, it takes effort to be civil.

Writing private letters to the Society.

for anyone who's ever written something of a private nature or asked clarification on certain beliefs have you ever had the unfortunate experience of the elders calling you in the back room or a sheperding call ?.

the reason i bring this out is that newer brothers or sisters don't know that everytime you write the society the society sends a copy of your letter to your local cong.
