I would like to profer another facet, or two, to all of this. Making yourself a person involved in public issues exposes you to criticism, whether good or bad. Bill is not a fool and obviously has thick enough skin to endure both, I'm sure. It is our responsibility to play the vigillant skeptic, especially in regards to things in JWland. Those things that touch us most deserve the most scrutiny. Anyone who says otherwise is a fool, or is still a Jehovahs Witness. Having said that, I would also like to mention that ad hominem attacks from both sides of the ultra emotional issue, serve no purpose in the serious debate at hand. If prying into the matter is only for a few, then perhaps we should go back to something more familiar. Like having select people in charge of deciding what is right or worthy of discussing in public, among friends, colleagues, brothers and sisters....as it were. I would also like to respond to the following quote...

The actual victims of child abuse who need and deserve to be taken seriously have a hard enough battle to be believed without having exaggerations and hyperbole and hype being foisted upon them.

joel is exactly right and we could entertain the notion that the whole upcoming Dateline issue is in itself hype and hyperbole. He should also revise his concept of child abuse, because every child raised a JW suffers one form of abuse or another. We all deserve to be taken seriously, even if the language gets out of hand. Especially when we are talking about something relevant to each of us. Implying the skeptics don't care or think the work of silentlambs.org is unimportant, is a sure sign of being emotionally unstable, easily controlled, and reactionary to say the least. If Dateline happens, then good for us. If not, Simon gets some bandwidth back.

I SAVED A LIFE TONIGHT !!!

tonight i was leaving my flat with my brother, when a drunk guy from across the road came over shouting that his freinds apartment was on fire.. my brother and my kicked in the door, and went in to the flaming building three times.

we eventually found him slumped over in a sofa.. i thought we were goners because we got lost on the way out, the smoke had by this time filled the room.. my brother and me dragged him out the door when his collection of half finished whisky bottles and gas lighterc refills exploded.. the only casualty was us with smoke inhalation, and my brothers car keys which fell out of his pocket in the rush.. look in the lisburn star on fridays for my smokey face.

Dateline

as many of you may recall i posted the following update about two weeks ago:.

"i am happy to discontinue the dateline update due to the closeness of the program.

dateline, is a good organization and doing their best to be fair and remain neutral when it comes to reporting the story.

Sam, what I do mean is that the proof is in the pudding. So far I have seen nothing on the Dateline website, or from any other source that would indicate this is really going to happen. Stick with that whole Satan plotting to distract the world from seeing the JWs for what they are. I'm sure you'll end up on dateline as well. I am in no way against what Bill is doing, and in fact, think its a very noble and upstanding thing to do. I'm just too sarcastic to believe anything without being able to see the light bulb at the end of the tunnel.

'Experiences' in Gay Nightclubs, Part One!

subject shoulda tipped you people off!.

couple of weeks back, i was busy winding up my evening at a gay nightclub near my home in johannesburg, when across the room i notice this drop-dead-gorgeous woman sitting there with her obviously gay friend.

so i stare at her a bit, get some eye-contact going, and i reckoned i was making some decent progress!

Gay bars are great places to pick up women. That's where the best drugs are and the cheapest drinks. Just make sure when you pick up a chick at a gay bar that she doesn't have an Adam's apple or need a shave.

I didn't go to college. . .

because i listened to the dumb elders who suggested i stay away from college, now i'm broke and unhappy.

i need money and direction.. can anyone suggest a few short courses i can take so as to find a job easy and quick?

it could be anything, i'm lost, i'm in dire need for something, anything.

I teach Intro to Computers, Help Desk, PC Hardware for A+ Cert and the Operating Systems class for A+ cert. And yes Celia, I am wonderful...*L*

rhett, you are correct, but a cert makes it easier to at least get in on the ground floor. As well, community college makes it a lot easier than say going to Devry or the Art Institute and getting training. All they do for you is give you a mediocre education/training and an impressive student loan to repay.

The last time I went to a gay club I was standing over a balcony...got sick and hurled all over a drag queen that was standing below. Very funny, except I wasted all that tequila and beer...
