  I was about 15 at the time and I think I was the only one that LEFT the WT in right around '75. I fully believed it just like so many others but I just didn't belong there. So, I knew I was a goner. After 1975, instead of being able to breathe a sigh of relief, all I heard was that it just meant that the end was even closer now. PSST...it still is! WOLF! ..... WOLF!

  This topic came up a couple of years ago between my brother and mother. My mom said she never even knew anything about 1975!! Absolutely unbelievable but I see now that that is not an uncommon thing. (we gladly brought this to her attention and helped her remember)

  Remember Henry Kissinger stating that "Peace is at hand!" ? (I just looked it up and it was Oct. 1972). Think that didn't get a whole lot of jw's saying that this is it? It did! And just look at the timing...the END was expected in the fall of 1975 - only 3 yrs to go...yep, a sure sign. That was (a part of) the speculation I remember hearing here in Dallas and you know how everything was made to seem so certain and that they were the only ones clued in to what things REALLY meant. <wink, wink, nudge, nudge>

  aaaYeahp, 1975. A date that will live in WT infamy. Guess you had to be there though. And realizing that made me understand just what so many earlier witnesses and also the early Bible Students must have felt when their armageddons didn't come either. Shame on you WT... let me hear ya say WOLF!

  Scuba Diving in Cozumel

  last week megadude, roo and i went scuba diving in cozumel.

  navigator joined us on the last day taking a break from his cruise.

  we enjoyed it so much so i thought i would share just a little of it with you.

  how much vacation do you get per yr?

  according to this article, hard working americans get 8 days off.vacations are being downsized by the same forces that brought us soaring work weeks: labor cutbacks, a sense of false urgency created by tech tools, fear and, most of all, guilt.

  I'm with that other Texan (Xena) on this one. Y'all suck!

  I work for a very small co. and get 1 (one) week (5 friggin') days vacation per annum (albeit, whether I deserve it or not). --- and that is no matter how long employeed! No (none, zero, nada, nil...) personal days. So I tend to take vacation around a holiday and if I need to just take an extra day or two without pay I'll do that so as to get close to 2 weeks off. ....y'all suck!

  have you ever done a good deed for a stranger and then after, just felt odd about it for some reason?.

  today i got off work a few minutes early and went to pay a bill then go to the grocery store.

  but, as i was on my way to the store, there was an older man standing under a tree trying to catch my attention by waving a rolled up bill(s) and motioning for me to roll down my window.

  today i got off work a few minutes early and went to pay a bill then go to the grocery store.

  but, as i was on my way to the store, there was an older man standing under a tree trying to catch my attention by waving a rolled up bill(s) and motioning for me to roll down my window.

  Today I got off work a few minutes early and went to pay a bill then go to the grocery store. But, as I was on my way to the store, there was an older man standing under a tree trying to catch my attention by waving a rolled up bill(s) and motioning for me to roll down my window. Of course, I did and he said he needed a ride home because his son hadn't shown up to get him. He had a basket full of grocery bags and it's hot here in Dallas! So, we loaded his bags in my truck and I took him home - several miles OPPOSITE where I needed to go, then helped him carry his bags upstairs to his door. Oh, and no, I did not take his money.

  Now, I'll help out pretty much anyone and I had no reason to doubt his story, but for some reason I just feel like a shmuck for this one. Can't put my finger on it really either. hmmmm Maybe that is it...that I'm just a sucker and put myself out for people at the drop of a hat (or the wave of a dollar I have no intention of taking! lol )

  What's the most you've put yourself out for someone - be they friend (or foe), relative or stranger?
  I once drove some jw "friends" from Texas to Boston - their car w/ largest available Y'all-Haul (I did say Texas right?) I mean, they needed help and I was free to do it but man, that was one LONG trip! I did have some elder pressure to help them out too. The payoff...they paid for meals, rooms etc. and my flight back to Dallas and I even felt guilty for them doing that.

  So, am I just a sucker? Please tell me I'm not the only one! Should I just look the other way? Maybe I need to be more harsh and uncaring - maybe I should move to NY for awhile? lol

  That's too much ado about nothing and I'm sure this will be one short lived thread. Just don't go asking for favors eh? Unless you're of the helpless woman class
