What we percieve as physical and tangible is always being born and dying. What remains constant is the memory and the emotion.
I intend to keep exercising the same memories and same emotions, towards myself and my loved ones.
our family just lost someone dear and very close, a faithful jw.
as we went through the entire funeral services and meeting long time brothers and sisters, who in general have been very kind and warm towards us, we realize that the hope of resurrection is a meaningless utopia for us, like a fairytale for little children.
we don't have faith in it anymore, and serves us of no comfort.
What we percieve as physical and tangible is always being born and dying. What remains constant is the memory and the emotion.
I intend to keep exercising the same memories and same emotions, towards myself and my loved ones.
a child in my daughter's class lost his mother very recently.
we went to the viewing last night at the local catholic church.
in the foyer area there was a bulletin board with pamphlets regarding child sex abuse, including by the church, in both english and spanish.
god not only determined and set his mind on that new world order as soon as the need arose, away back at the time of the rebellion in eden, but also set his heart upon it with unbreakable attachment and devotion.
-watchtower, november 15, 1952 page 696 paragraph 4.
Hate to break it to you Calebsairplane,
There is a reason the WT has distanced itself from these 'new world order' terms, as blondie pointed out.
The new world order is conceived with the purpose of eliminating divisive concepts (for ex. extremist religions) for obvious reasons. Its goal is peace and unity resulting in progress and vice versa, hence the phrases on your pictures.
However, this is accomplished through education, logic and reason; NOT force, enslavement or violence.
New World Order never intended to accomplish its objective through fear; logically, this would be counterintuitive. By design, 'faith' and religion is incompatible with reason and logic, hence its aversion to New World Order (see your Pat Robertson book for example).
been lurking here for yyyyyeeeeears, but was too busy with school, jw life and other interests.
now that i'm done with education for the time being anyway, plus the jw life is under pretty good control, i can spend some time and throw my views here and there in some attractive topics.. born-in, and deeply indoctrinated, but with life experience came better comprehension of my lot in life and have come to accept that, just like the family one is born into, jws are my family, friends, my ultimate and overall identity.
a jw is what i am; like the song 'hotel california', and like so many on this board, check out anytime you'd like but one could never leave.. remember like it was yesterday the failed 'the wolf is coming' calls of 1975, mid-80s, late 90's, y2k, 2004 or so, and same will be with the latest effort to get people overly excited about 'the end'.
Hello Gustv,
Same 'like minded' folks here. The org does provide plenty of friends and opportunities for social events. a circuit overseer once said at a meeting that the 'teaching provided at the meetings is always all the same'. It is the relationships that must be kept strong he reasoned.
In other words, keep the friendships and relationships you've developed, but dont be too overly concerned with doctrines and teachings. These ARE going to continue to change, and as best as we can tell, there is no imminent 'end' (not how the WT teaches it least).
Religion has its place, and so does the WT. The issues with blood, education, heaven and so forth ARE going to change too in the future. Religion, including this one, must evolve if it wants to survivie.
i read plenty of threads here.. what amazes me is how each 'theist/believer' is totally convinced that their way/cult is the correct one.
even xtians are not in agreement over doctrine.. ok. so i've heard the excuse that it's the devil's fault..............but come on.............what a cop out.. is god so incapable of giving a consistant message of which is the true way?.
i'd tend to think god doesn't exist and it's just the thoughts of deluded people with deluded ideas.............otherwise the real truth would be obvious.. god is really powerless if it/she/they/it have to rely on the game of chinese whispers..

i believe that if you are trully seeking some sort of 'truth' or 'meaning' you WILL find it, somewhere. Be it religion, a relationship or somewhere else. This is how people can become convinced of their faiths.
The study of the human mind is very interesting to say the least, and understanding it certaintly helps in comprehending how one person choses a religion over another, or why there are theists vs believers.
do we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.
or is this still an unexplained 'mystery'?.
i've read that the stones used to build these things are monolithic?.
jgnat,
yes the 1:1 ratio would offer the most 'concrete' evidence, i think. since its brought up, has this NEVER been done before? why?
onthewayout stated very logically that there is no funding for such a project, but you would think that for the sake of ruling out preposterous possibilities such a project would be given a green light.
On the other hand, who would sign up?? as nancy drew said, thousands upon thousands of slaves would be needed, over an incredibly long time to do this.
what about stonehenge? wouldn't this structure be a little more viable to duplicate today? how was this structure done then?
do we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.
or is this still an unexplained 'mystery'?.
i've read that the stones used to build these things are monolithic?.
thanks for the responses.
cofty's link gives a very logical explanation. i wonder if this theory has been tested.
do we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.

This applies to the Egyptian pyramids, evolution, the beginning of the universe, George Washington crossing the Delaware River
i'd beg to differ in regards to the beginning of the universe. there are scientists that have done a much better job explaining the beginning of the universe, than how these pyramids were put there.
do we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.

i've read that the stones used to build these things are monolithic?.
We don't really know the answers i think it's a big fat mystery.
nancy drew,
i've seen these shows too, more times than i'd care to admit. amazing isn't it? how structures built thousands of years ago are still puzzling the modern mind?
do we have concrete evidence of how the pyramids at giza were built?.

witness myfury, thanks for your response - i HAVE thought of this.
the problem is that there is no recorded evidence (that i know of) that this is how it was done, with the earth works and all. I find it VERY strange that there is nothing recorded on these mechanics. Common sense would say that slaves were used, but again, there is no CONCRETE evidence. (please correct me if i'm wrong as i'm dying to rule out a very 'interesting' theory to say the least. )
onthewayout-
thanks too for your response.
so...yes, we have evidence that the pyramids are there, no doubt that they exist. But why is there STILL a debate about how they were put there? Is it not incredibly odd that with all our advances in comprehension, we still do not have ABSOLUTE evidence of this? by the way, im not in any way suggesting aliens or gods are responsible.
