in a recent topic someone mentioned how much they have drifted from god since they "left the jw's.".
as someone brought up in the org (inactive for several years)i have found this to be similiar in my case.
i don't know how much i believe the fan/plug analogy (remember that in the live forever book?
Hi, alias!
After reflecting over my years in the org, I realize that I never really got to know God, but was more involved in the typical JW lifestyle/religion and of following the policies and procedures of man. When I "left", there was no relationship with God, as it never really seemed to exist in the first place, except somewhat when others would pray. In my own praying it never seemed totally real.
Exactly how I felt.

Hey, Chuck. Welcome!
I noticed in your picture you got a scooter. What is it, a Honda XR? I've got a Husaberg FE501. Can't wait till the snow melts here.

i couldn`t resist the "headline", but it is absolutely true, i`m the ex-witness and my everloving was the bunny.
this being saint valentines day, it seems a very appropriate moment to share the story:.
back in `72 i was df`d , olivetti were in the throws of bankrupting me, i was living in a grotty bed-sit and going through a nightmare divorce.. one day, i got a message from my ex - lets be friends!
That's a great story, Englishman! How can you ever repay your ex for that?!
My honey was engaged to another man when we met at our place of work. What a flirt she was! But oh such a proper Catholic girl. We went to lunch together and one thing led to another. She broke her engagement, and we've been together for 17 years now.

this is an extract from one of the wts letters to bodies of elders.
i've got the full letter if you want to see it.. watchtower .
bible and tract society of new york, inc. .
Never turn over records, notes, documents, or reveal any confidential matter sought by subpoena without receiving direction from the Legal Department.
How could one comply with this directive? Isn't a subpoena similar to a search warrant? IOW, shouldn't it be complied with? Any lawyers out there?

does anyone know if the books written by carl o. jonsson are any good?.
i looked at the descriptions at amazon and they look really fascinating.
was wondering if anyone here has read them and what they thought.
I read Jonsson's "Gentile Times Reconsidered" and "The Sign Of The Last Days- When?" I was fascinated reading both books. However, I'm not a researcher or an ancient language scholar, so I don't think I'd join his cult quite yet if he started one. He does try to go out of his way to discredit the WTS's doctrine, though. And THAT is very cool.

http://www.savard.com/servicerecord/.
the bottom of the page states that this will only be of interest to jws.. however, i am planning to use it to track my tv viewing.
[:)}.
Notice the "donation" info? Why the hell don't they just put a price on it for Christ's sake? I think they like the idea of chastising some "spiritually weak" JW's for not "donating".
Anyhoo, I'm not sure what I'll do with my copy yet.

Frenchy,
Personally I would like to see some of the lurkers step into the light and challenge us. I would like to think that some of us would welcome this opportunity and answer such with tact and honesty. I keep my e-mail open to anyone who wants to drop me a note but I know that many are afraid of discovery and so I understand their reluctance to do so. Perhaps if our conduct on this board would show a little more tolerance these might be encouraged to speak out.
I agree. If asked sincerely, I would respond in kind.

i recieved this in an email this morning: thanks, man.
it was the accepted practice in babylon 4,000 years ago that for a. month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink.
mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month or what we know today as the honeymoon.. tr
