  Greg Stafford's New Book Has Shipped

  today i received greg stafford's new book three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses.

  for those who don't know, stafford has been a staunch defender of the watchtower society's teachings for at least six years, on the net and in print.

  his previous book, jehovah's witnesses defended (1998, 2000), is a milestone in pro-jw literature.. the new book is a radical departure from stafford's previous book in that he strongly questions the society's doctrines about blood transfusions, the basis for the claim of spiritual authority by jw leaders, the necessity for christians to believe the society's 1914 doctrine, and issues of "legalism" including the propriety of requiring "time" in the field ministry to be reported, and even the supposed scriptural basis for the society's ban on celebrating birthdays and christmas.

  I pre-ordered this book so long ago it seems ages. It was during my still questioning stage and I had also ordered Furuli's and Greg's other book. I have heard nothing and forgot all about it until now.

  When you click on the book title on the Elihubooks.com website it has this statement in red.

  my parents made it clear to me that while i'm under their roof, i can't have _any_ communication with apostates.

  obviously, that would rule out this group; so until i move (hopefully in a couple of months or so), i must be on a forced hiatus!

  i read the post where princess sent mr. and mrs. ozzie goodies to enjoy.. now that is a great idea.

  i confess, i was working on my christmas cards when i broke my foot, and with the baby i just didn't get to send any out this year.

  guess i've been lurking long enough.

  Fetus receives blood from Mother?

  i have heard that although the the wtbts admits that plasma proteins transfer from mother to fetus, blood also transfers from mother to fetus and of course they don't admit to that.. .

  does anyone know if this is true and if so where i can go to get more information on this?

  i have already looked at the twins case but is it only in the case of twins or always?

  WTS says you are free to do what we tell you

  the may 15 issue of the watchtower contains a discussion of the question: would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?.

  the tone of the wts view is set in the very first line our taking part in any form of false religion is displeasing to jehovah and must be avoided.

  nonetheless the last line of the article states whatever the situation, the christian should make sure that the decision will not interfere with his preserving a good conscience before god and men.. so apparently it's a personal decision for the jw as to whether he/she will attend a funeral in a church or not.

  Now I understand what got him sucked in... The loss of his child, they sucked him in during one of the most vulnerable periods in his life. Like they did to so many of us.

  I wonder how long it will take him to realize it isn't the truth and if and when that happens what in the world he will do.
