Witnesses are coming to my office

ozziepost just posted concerning the may 15 watchtower about attending a funeral in a church.

because my subscription for the watchtower has discontinued, i called the local kh and asked them to deliver the watchtowers to me.

this is not in the area of where they know me, but i hope none of them recognize me when they come by.

I'm with Shimmer, check out you local laundry mat or go stand out at a bus stop for a little while. Also you could check out the laundry mats of apartment communities near you. You could also ask around and see if there are any witnesses at your job and asked him/her for the magazines. If him/her asks any questions just tell them you want the magazine and nothing more and to please not offer you a bible study.

I remember I had a magazine route like that, she would tell me "I just want the magazines dear, nothing more", she would sometimes give me a contribution and then close the door... hehe... she was smart.

the may 15 issue of the watchtower contains a discussion of the question: would it be advisable for a true christian to attend a funeral or a wedding in a church?.

the tone of the wts view is set in the very first line our taking part in any form of false religion is displeasing to jehovah and must be avoided.

nonetheless the last line of the article states whatever the situation, the christian should make sure that the decision will not interfere with his preserving a good conscience before god and men.. so apparently it's a personal decision for the jw as to whether he/she will attend a funeral in a church or not.

This is why as much as I've been advised to fade out slowly, I can not bring myself to go to any meetings at all.

All of their articles smack full of hypocrisy and manipulation. I sit there so furious I swear you could see the fire coming out of my nostrils.

JW Rules That Are Just "Too Much"!

I was about to say the same thing, stop reading my mind!

But I heard this at a Sunday Public talk in Spanish when I accompanied my husband not too long ago. The brother giving the talk was so serious. He said "Tom and Jerry and Bugs Bunny" remember those cartoons. Just fun cartoons right? NO Friends these are VOILENT cartoons." I just had to roll my eyes and I wispered in my husband's ear "I grew up on those cartoons and I didn't turn out violent." I couldn't help myself, it just irked me.

BTW, Don't get a tattoo.. hehe.. just kidding, do whatever you want.

What did you do during the written review

by far the most boring part of all meetings is the written review.

what kind of stuff did you guys (male and female) do to pass the time.

i either to write computer programs, sleep talk to my wife or sleep in the car.

I'm also one of those that was refreshed on written review nights... hehe... I would alway say in my mind "Yeah written review is tonight, I get a break from having to listen to the talks on the Theocratic Ministry School!" haha... But unless I studied I never did very well on those things. When I did study I'd Ace them, of course because the dern thing was already filled out when I got to the hall! LOL!

" look into the eyes of a young child who has been a victim and you will see why.

look into the eyes and life of a grown women whose life has been scared from childhood, and hear about the hell she has had to work through.. if you could see my eyes, you would see the eyes of experience - you would see a man who, as a 5 year old boy, watched his sister raped by a pedophile - and who knew the feeling of being totally helpless.

I've been studying for about a year now...

i know that by nature (or nurture!

) i have an addictive personality so i have tried to be real careful that i'm doing the right thing by getting involved with them.

I've checked out other churches/religions in my area, and no one seems to teach the Bible except the JW's. So I dunno.

This is exactly why I said in my first post to you that the Watchtower has created probably one of the most clever religious scams to ever exist. You see it seems they are the only religion teaching from the bible but it is not truth from the bible they teach. They only use the bible to twist and contrive what it is really saying in order that you may come to believe their teachings.

Other religions are orthodox and they are not going to study the bible with you like JWs do (although pastors of other religions may take the time to help you with a certain issues) because it is up to you to do the research and to come up with your own conclusions. In other words they respect and encourage you to think for yourself.

The opposite would be a cult religion that wants to control your mind and your life. Only by controling you will is this religion survive. So they will "teach" from the bible their version of truth, absolute truth, as if absolute truth existed. This is the biggest fallicy of all. People looking for absolute truth get easily sucked in because that is what they are so desperately looking for, I know I definately was. The real shocker was when I realized that not any one religion has absolute truth and that God DOES NOT soley approve of only ONE religion. If the JW religion allowed you to think for yourself and come to your own conclusions and decide for yourself based upon your own conscience and understanding, there would be no JW religion. Controling people's lives is the only way for a cult religion to survive.

Someone mentioned taking a theology course at a University. You will learn much more about God, the bible and religion at a University than you ever will studying with JWs.

Before I mentioned reading up on cults and mind control. Please do try to take some time out to do this, a quick search on google is all it takes. And please do some searches on this site as well and the other sites mentioned by others. Continue to ask us questions here, we're glad to help.

there has been much public interest in our beliefs lately, so we have prepared a very brief summary of our core beliefs in a new pamphlet which you may offer to interested persons.

hopefully, this pamphlet will generate enough interest with honest-hearted people and enable you to start many new bible studies.
