DELIGHTFUL DROP IN MEMORIAL ATTENDANCES: 2011 VERSUS 2014!
by steve2 inthe us kingdom ministry shows the collective total 2014 memorial attendances of the countries that now comprise the us territory in 2014: 2,610,810.. those countries are: the usa, bermuda, jamaica, turks and caicos and puerto rico.. the same collective total for those same countries three years ago - 2011 - was 2,666,592.. that's a decrease of 55,782 from 2011 to 2014. i am happified.. while there has been the occasional year in which memorial attendances from one year to the next have shown decrease, this is a first: decline evident over a three-year period.. comments please!.
.
anyone have the know how on how to provide the link for the kingdom ministry download?

Demon attacks on JW in past, where'd they go?
by thedepressedsoul inin the 80's and 90's (maybe even earlier) i remember hearing lots of witnesses talk about "demon attacks".
whether it was someone studying the bible who then started having strange things happen in their house to people bringing stuff home from yard sales and getting personal attacks and horrible dreams resulting in them dystroying stuff they brought home or getting rid of it.. .
i also remember hearing a sister say she had to pray in a home with a study because the study started to get attacked.

There was an article some years ago stating that such stories should be neither written nor told, in the same manner that Jesus stopped the demons from telling who he was. Demons should be no source of stories supporting what is true. I remember I read it some time prior to making a ministry school talk.

Publisher Statistics
by lurkernomore ini was watching a couple videos on youtube earlier and always like to peruse the comments at the bottom of the page.. i'm no sure if this has been discussed recently, but one indivdual made the claim that the societies numbers are massively over inflated, as he/she believes that they include inactive, df'd and da'd in their figures.. does anyone have any information to confirm this or i this just another assumption made without evidence?.
(also has anyone heard from witnessmyfury lately?
i had a pm chat with him a few days ago but not had a reply to my latest msgs.

The numbers definitely do NOT include the groups you mention; the number of publishers is the number of those who report their hours, and inactive ones and df'ed ones - how could they do that? The hours etc reported by each and every one is another question, but the NUMBER of those reporting is definitely correct.

OneEyedJoe - Death rate in larger populations is at 1 %. Factors that you state can not be used to stipulate a higher death rate, they are of course included in larger populations. You cannot stipulate a rate with small populations, then you must increase the number of years you are looking at to say 3 or 5, but the JW population both worldwide of course but also in the US is more than large enough to use the 1 % rate. So worldwide 80,000 die in a year, and a growth rate of 0 therefore "in fact" is a growth of 1 % because those having died have been substituted by new ones. If the old mantra of 1 % df'ed and 1 % leaving is still valid, then the annual loss is at 3 %, and theefore a 0 % growth means there are some 3 % new ones because they have substituted those that have left. So 0 growth = 240,000 new ones among the stock.

"The Bethel speaker told us that a new translation is not expected in our language"
That is a misunderstanding. It will not come NOW, and not in some years, because it will take years to translate. But it WILL come, although years will pass. Those languages into which translation has now just started, will get their translations according to the new, revised one, so they are the lucky ones.

BOE 2014-07-13 Appointment and deletion of elders and ministerial servants
by WatchTower87 in2014-07-13 appointment and deletion of elders and ministerial servantsto all bodies of elders.
the link removed by request is also available at the forms link.
the congregation secretary should arrange for this letter to be retained in the congregation permanent file of policy letters.

Why is the heading and signature of the letter in Italian, and the text in English?
In a way, you are positioned up against the wall: You are more or less appointed and then asked these three questions, and if there are any past or present problems you would reply that Yes, there are some problems. OK, then the result will be questions on what problems etc., and suddenly you find yourself on the way to a JC.
Or you can reply that No, there are no problems - but Yes, there are reasons why the announcement should not be made, because I simply don't WANT to be appointed. But this "I don't want to" attitude seems not be covered. If there are no problems, you will be appointed "no matter what you fell about it". So the solution will have to be either reporting no more than 7-8 hours a month or being irregular at times ("regularly irregular").

Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?
by Alfred in(a little background info before i ask my question...).
my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!
she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

"She also mentioned that she especially dreads “Memorial” night because 35 or so JWs would suddenly show up at 9PM (when the restaurant is cleaning up just prior to closing for the day) and the restaurant employees would practically have to re-arrange the entire restaurant (only to set it up again for the next day)."
Poor restaurant - guests are coming!
In my area, due to too many restaurants hunting for the same small number of possible guests, restaurants would be shouting for joy if a bunch of 30-40 people came in. The problem of "too many guests" would hardly be understood.

Jehovah's Witnesses took over my hotel in June (Please read).
by Joliette inthere was a convention in milwaukee from june 20th-22nd.
the witnesses literally took over our hotel!
they were more demanding than i remember when i was a kid.

They were demanding coffee
- wow! Imagine, asking for coffee in a hotel! I wonder what will be the next thing they demand - food? Wow!
Also they were complaining about their bills; a lot of the bills did not have the correct J-dub discounts on them.
- Terrible! They bills were incorrect, they did not get the correct discount - and then they had the guts to COMPLAIN about the incorrect bills! Must be the baddest sort of people I have ever read about!
For one, I am overweight, and going through skin issues at the moment.
- And still the Witnesses complained? How utterly rude! Imagine, complaining in front of an overweight person!
He gave me a hug and kissed me in front of his pioneer wife!
- How disgusting! That hundreds of millions of Europeans and Latin Americans hug and kiss as a greeting, of course makes it even worse, and imagine - hugging in front of a pioneer! Terrible!
Wow, I understand you experienced the worst thing of your life. Ten times worse than the easy small things they experience in Syria, Palestine and elsewhere. Your life really must be a hard one. I admire your fight to endure this and put it behind you.

Eight questions about Nathan Knorr
by Skimmer ini have some questions about nathan knorr, the third president (1942-1977) of the wtbts.
accurate answers are welcome.. 1) how did it come about that knorr was made president of the wtbts in 1942 after the death of joseph rutherford?
rutherford as we know was an usurper inheritor of russell's wtbts in late 1916 after russell went to his reward.

Farkel,
I have those 1942 Consolation issues, and it makes a strange reading. A far cry from what would have been published today. Imagine close to a whole magazine quarrelling and name-calling the municipality authorities because of refusing the burial of the Judge. Or page upon page with congregations having voted and giving their allegiance to the new President.
Interesting reading.

Speculation Fall AGM
by Poztate ina lot of comments have been made about possible big changes at the agm in the fall.. comments range from changes to the blood doctrine or who compose the one hundred and forty four thousand.. my speculation is.... (and if someone else had this kind of thread i am not stealing from you..just never read it).
the door to door as we know it will cease to exist.
the publishing of a monthly public wt and awake will end.. instead each month a tract with different subjects and a redirect to jw.org will come out.

Remember that 2/3 of the world's population have NO access to Internet. And where is the biggest growth? Yep. So door-to-door, Watchtower and Awake! are here to stay ...........
