1993 was about the time I left the religion .Then the next few years with the help of the internet I cemented that break with facts about the cult that I would never have known otherwise.

by pistolpete inthis year was actually “the beginning of the last days for the watchtower.
before this year, there were very few that questioned the watchtower.
they were truly god’s only channel.

Time, times and half a time - nerd time
by Anony Mous inso, the famous 607 calculation to 1914 involves the above prophecy.
the common explanation is that time is one unit, times is an unsubstantiated number of units.. to prove you can make it say any date, we must write it as a formula:.
date = t + nt + 0.5t where n >= 2. so simplified:.

Jesus-------What were you thinking!
by pistolpete inmost of the sermon on the mount, matthew 5-7 - is bizarre, vague or barbaric.
it actually smacks stupidity and not wisdom..
if you lust after a woman, you’ve committed adultery (thought crime) .

Don’t swear an oath (our entire judicial system is dependent on the idea of oaths)
Geoffrey Jackson swore an oath on the Bible at the ARC to tell the truth and he never did.

Reading the Watchtower publications will give you an university education.
by Overrated inthe watchtower said that reading their stuff would get you a college education.
can anyone recall that gem?
my parents sure bought into that crap.

I remember an elder in my congregation who would hone in on some "special word" and use it in a sentence that just didn`t make sense, no doubt he thought he was getting a college education.

Christmas star of Bethlehem to appear for 1st. Time in 800 years
by nowwhat? inas spock would say " fascinating".. with 2020 being such a terrible year.
are people of the christian faith going to look at this as a sign of god, to give them hope and renew their faith?
coincidence?

watchtower says it was Satan that provided the star so herod would find the baby Jesus. So They are saying Satan is powerful enough to move planets?
Sorry nowwhat planets are not stars ,stars are suns. And they are light years in distance away from us here on earth.
It`s absurd to say that a star could move over the sky that would pinpoint a geographical location on earth.
If an apparent light moved some distance above a dwelling to pinpoint it`s location then it certainly isn`t / wasn`t a star .
Another Bible gaff ?

Publishers bought the magazines over the literature counter and then charged a few cents more to cover their expenses in delivering these magazines to the public.
I remember specifically selling a couple of Mags to a householder who then tore them up in front of me hoping to get a reaction ?
If i remember correctly I said something like ,"no loss to me you just paid for them " and walked off
.A specific price was indicated for all JW publications prior to the Jimmy Swaggart case regarding taxation on religious literature.
As Jeffro says , that`s when it all changed , the WTB&TS went to bat for Jimmy Swaggart`s religion as a friend of the court , trying to protect their own interests and supporting one of Christendoms religions.
Don`t believe me ? Do your own research .! lurkers ,and any who just take the G.B.at their word .!

Do Jehovah`s Witnesses believe the 1,000 reign of Christ Jesus began in 1914 ?
by smiddy3 inif not ,why do they claim he took up his power to reign as king in 1914 ?
do they claim that ?
or is it that he has only returned awaiting for god to give the throne to him.?.

If not ,why do they claim he took up his power to reign as King in 1914 ? Do they claim that ? Or is it that he has only returned awaiting for god to give the throne to him.?
If so why is jehovah God taking so long to do this ? Why the big gap in years ?
If they do ,then WTF has he been doing this past 106 years ?
If neither of these options is the case ,then what is the third option ? That he is not a reigning King yet but is awaiting for Jehovah God to destroy this system of things during the Great tribulation and Armageddon.?
And only then does he take up his kingship and start the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ.
Some things don`t seem to add up but I can`t put my finger on it ? with JW`s beliefs about this.

Jehovah`s witnesses not the only religion GOD is using now ?
by smiddy3 inwhen confronted with angus stewart’s blunt question “do you see yourselves as jehovah god’s spokespeople on earth?” the answer that came from jackson’s lips was astounding.. “that i think would seem to be quite presumptuous to say that we are the only spokesperson that god is using.
the scriptures clearly show that someone can act in harmony with god’s spirit in giving comfort and help in the congregations, but if i could just clarify a little, going back to matthew 24, clearly, jesus said that in the last days ‐ and jehovah’s witnesses believe these are the last days ‐ there would be a slave, a group of persons who would have responsibility to care for the spiritual food.
so inthat respect, we view ourselves as trying to fulfill that role.”.

All you need to do is type in geoffrey Jackson at the ARC and you can watch the video and see him being asked the questions and watch him give his answers.

The wife and I were converts in our late teens and walked the tightrope with both our family`s so never had any real issues with them once they realised we took our "new" religion seriously.
We had a pretty normal relationship with them but just did draw the line sometimes .we accepted them thinking our example might bring some of them in ,which it did in a couple of cases ,and they accepted us .
And when we all left at various times there was no fanfare about it we just slotted in as normal family members.
