tonight there was an 8 minute segment allocated to reporting on jws regarding child abuse and the redress scheme.
it was presented by lisa wilkinson for the project.the australian branch has issued a statement to the show advising that they will not be joining the scheme.. they state:.
statement from the jehovah’s witnessesthe religion of jehovah’s witnesses does not have the institutional settings that the voluntary national redress scheme is designed to cover.therefore, the ministry for families and social services has been advised that jehovah’s witnesses will not join the scheme.jehovah’s witnesses have responded and will continue to respond directly to individual claims for redress in a caring, fair, and principled manner, taking into consideration the unique circumstances of each claim.. https://10play.com.au/theproject/articles/statement-from-the-jehovahs-witnesses/tpa200621ycelq.

If your wife or yourself wanted to see the project episode she could still do so , you just have to click on the catchup channel the project was on and click on the particular episode you want to view.
for those who haven't come across furuli before , he is a 77 year old norwegian professor and is ( or was ) one of the few "scholarly" jws used by the society and used as a source on various matters ( especially 607 bce ).. however recently he has fallen out with the gb and has published an interesting book - like many recent scholarly apologists , he seems to be going down the road of disagreeing with the authority of the gb but still holding that the jws is the one true religion.
kind of "lions led by donkeys".
whether this view will continue is anyones guess.
Hasn`t Rolf Furuli now been disfellowshiped for writing this book ? He sounds like a truly messed up individual ?
How can one look at the GB as misleading the flock on so many important issues and still believe they are the "true" religion ?

My wife saw this last night and told me about it so I just watched it on catch up TV a few minutes ago.
Very damning for for the JW religion Lisa certainly didn`t pull any punches she told it how it is.
ARC videos are case 29 and 54 if my memory serves me correctly. Justice McClellan and Angus Stewart were also very critical of the Jehovah`s Witnesses policy dealing with abuse victims.
We can only hope that they do lose their charitable Status.
i loath this cult!!!!!!!!!!
why won't she leave?.
she knows about the australian royal commision, the united nations, failed prediction dates etc...., i have crisis of consciene and she know, it is visiable that she could see the book everyday.
"Go To Bags" where are they going to go to ?
Why the same places they have always gone to when things get tough and out of their control.
The governments for pensions and health care cards .
Religious institutions that offer accommodation ,food parcels ,soup kitchens, clothing etc.
Christendoms Religious institutions such as aged care when they get old and can`t look after themselves .
Because the Jehovah`s Witness religion offers absolutely no help whatsoever of a practical nature to any of their members young or old.
Their attitude is :
You can rely on Satan`s system of things to help you in your need.

jehovah’s witness elder sentenced to nine years in prison for sexual abuse.
jehovah’s witness elder, clifford whiteley, has been sentenced to nine years in prison at the birmingham crown court for sexual abuse offences he committed against a child member of the congregation over ten years ago.. mr whiteley initially denied the offences to the police, despite the fact that he had admitted his guilt during an internal investigation of the jehovah’s witnesses.. during court proceedings, mr whiteley’s defence counsel, sharon bailey, stated that the jehovah’s witnesses refused to disclose the details of his confession to the police.
The public really need to know about how these cases could affect them also as these offenders are going D2D putting their children in potential danger as well.
This potential threat to the children of the general public was put to an Elder at the Australian Royal Commission By Angus Stewart and the Elders reply was they are not of our concern we are only concerned with children in the congregation ? .{ or words to that effect }
They have no clue....unbelievable.
he talks about how a group of 5,000 broke away from the organization due to distrust of government agents infiltrating the jws.
they weren't regarded as apostates, just distrustful.
he uses phrases like "their leader" and "his elders", and how they had a meeting with the governing body and made the decision for all these thousands to reintegrate them into the jws, splitting them up among congregations.
I know I`m thick and I couldn`t find the video in question .
ok folks, it's been almost two weeks and despite logging a fault, i cannot update my profile on here.
yet i need to run off now as i have exciting godless, hedonistic stuff to do 😉; so i'm leaving my details in this message in case any jws from the past (whose brain eventually started working, like mine) wish to get in touch:.

i guess it's the covid-19 thing.
but very little news from a couple of people i know well there.
they can't leave the "compound" or much of anything else.
While I sympathise with you LHG for your experience as a working Gal ,in my neck of the woods ,Australia I have never had a problem working my whole life as a JW ,having a few jobs in my 32 years in the borg.
28 years in the last job I had and for some of that time i served as a MS .
And most of the people I have met in the 6 or so congregations I have been in have either had a job or were self employed ,and of course i`m talking about males generally .
However my wife also worked for a Sister who ran a beauty salon whose husband served as a missionary in PNG some years before .......No problems there.
And at that time he was also an Elder in the Congregation we attended.
When I first became a witness 20 years of age in 1960 the presiding Overseer was employed as a Life insurance salesman and his fleshly brother was an Assistant Congregation Overseer ,who was also a life Insurance salesman with the same firm.
An interesting story about him and his wife that i wont go into here.
Of course I / we have retired and own our our home and live comfortably never having had the pressure to give up our jobs as you seem to have experienced .
Maybe it was just a really shitty conservative congregation you were stuck with and i`m sorry for your experience.
Take care .
