Are Ex-JW's Suffering From Burn Out?

the reason that i ask is, in the two years on this forum and you tube, i've seen ex-jw's either drop off entirely or make fewer and fewer videos.

i know the emotional toll can be high.

is that the sole reason, or is it cost (video) or do you think it's external pressure (legal or family)?

1234 ,and DOC ,pretty much sums up the reason I post on here ,and I certainly haven`t experienced the hurt and anger that a lot of people have expressed ,thankfully.

I was a convert and the only family that did have anything to do with the religion were basically brought in by me and now except for one niece they have all left the JW`s.That`s about 10 people who have no interest at all in sites like this they all have productive lives to lead and are happy to be free .

For me it`s just an interest to communicate with you guys and hope that I help someone along the way.

Dose age and the reasons for leaving affect the out come

firstly for anyone leaving is don’t get involved in alcohol, drugs, parties, and sleeping around, because it will just come back and bite you in the arse.. i have a theory that those who leave the religion at an older age do better than those who leave at a younger age.

i think to that the reasons for leaving are quite different between the age groups.

i sometimes wonder if many of the under 30’s use the short comings of the religion, as an excuse to pursue the above mentioned life style.

Its complete bullshit that the JW/WT religion teaches that when a person leaves the religion they will start dabbling in immoral practices sleeping around getting into drugs ,joining the occult and becoming involved in whatever else the religion forbids .

None of this ever happens .OK maybe one or two people that would have done it anyway while still being a Jehovah`s Witness.

While I think of it their are/were many indulging in those practices while still being a member of the religion ,they were just leading double lives and never got found out.

An old JW friend got back to me ,Phillipine Convention experience and my reply.

this link had to do with the experience that was given by a young witness pioneer in the phillipines convention and her take was on return to jehovah .. an old time friend from the past sent me this link a couple of weeks ago trying to encourage me to come back to the religion and asked me what i thought of it ?.

i said i would if she could reply to my 2 questions first fair enough ?

so far i haven`t heard back from her and i will let you know if and when i do.. the 2 questions i asked her was to do with jehovah`s name and the christian greek scriptures ,especially the ki publication the wt brought out ,the word for word greek to english that didn`t have an equivalent greek word for jehovah .. and the other one was to do with the charge that was given to christians ,followers of jc to witness about jesus with over 20 such scriptures and not one saying anything about being a witness for jehovah anywhere in the nt.. over the years she has always still kept in touch, a little bit eccentric and we had a lot to do with her family and mine back in the day when we were all believers .. .and she is not backward in coming forward about having a go at the elders who she doesn`t agree with .. at the time i looked at the link and have posted somewhere else about it on this forum and mentioned i didn`t see anything about "returning to jehovah" in it .. anyway this was a few weeks ago and i was still waiting to hear from her..today we got mail from her ,,slow mail ,even though we have each others e-mail address .and in the envelope was only the wt "return to jehovah " and inside a $50 note.?.

Of course BB and anymore she wants to send LOL ,and i do think we jokingly said it will take a lot more than a $50 here or there to sway us to go back.

They say every man or woman has his/her price ,nah, all the tea in China or all the money in the world would not tempt us ,NO WAY.

i'm not totally new here, as i'm reading since some time...then i tried to sign up but had some technical issue with the email,eventually recovered..... i'm from north italy, for your info from the region where the covid is worse.

i'm male, generation millennial(...unfortunately not the overlapped generation :))) ) ..sorry to don't go in so much details, but i'm pimo ;).

hope i can contribute to this community and help as much i got from you guys.... have nice weekend!.

I was neglectful to offer a welcome Italiancalipso and I do so now.I`m not Italian but grew up living next door to italians for the first 15 years of my life in "Little Italy" Carlton, Melbourne Aust.

Its been a real tragedy the death toll in Northern Italy as it has been in so many other parts of the world and I agree that China needs to be big enough to allow an Independant Group to investigate where exactly and how such a thing could start in the province of china and spread as it did to the rest of the world .

And actually holding back from putting blame on anyone in particular .

In order to prevent it happening again from anywhere else in the world.

My 2 cents worth.

Our "friend" phoned us up yesterday a/noon while I was preparing dinner and we just idle chit chatted for a few minutes then I handed the phone to my wife & left it on loudspeaker .

She did bring up some things about Jehovah and the brothers and my wife said something like its not as though we have`t heard all of this a million times before and if it makes you happy so be it. She also said she still hasn`t got around to reading it yet but will do so as promised when she feels a bit better.

I`m not sure but that might have been the start of the end of the conversation?

She never mentioned anything about the questions I had asked her and I didn`t bring it up then ,what I might do is just send her an email asking why she hasn`t replied to my earlier Q`s and see if I get a response .

My wife does`t like me doing it and says she`s happy just let her be.But I can`t help myself LOL ,I am respectful and don`t go out of my way to upset her as she is a bit eccentric and we always have a laugh with her.

Brainwashing left a stain

hi one of my jw parents died recently of old age , after decades of brainwashing of the dead are just a sleep and if we are good we would see them again in paradise .. i fully understand now you have one life and should make the best of it but finding it difficult at the moment to get my head around it .. it's just a bit of a rant but your the only ones that i can try and express how i feel and be able to understand after the years of brainwashing how it affects my thinking process.. thanks for any help and advice..

As the saying goes "time heals everything" that I have found to be true and though I was a firm believer ,and the person I am now I would hate to think that I would ever have let one of my loved ones die because of the doctrines of a man made religion.

One of my hobby`s/interest in life now is doing what I can to help people see the folly of Jehovah`s Witnesses and the problems with religion in general accepting the Bible as their pathway in life.

The purpose of conversion testimonies and stories

a hunch has just struck me.we get frequent accounts in the literature and videos of people whose dysfunctional lived have been turned around by studying with the jw's and coming to belief in the org (sorry, jehovah).

evangelical type christian groups also use similar testimony stories.here's the hunch:the purpose of these is quite different among jw's compared to other religions.other groups use these testimonies primarily to persuade non-believers.the jw's use them to reinforce the beliefs of those already in the "truth.

I personally know of experiences that were given at CA with people I knew as complete BS and so called exemplars in the congregation who we knew were living double lives.but couldn`t prove it if we had to.

I had to give you a like for this ,I can just imagine in years to come they would be saying in their boastful sessions that they were first in giving out the info of safe practising ,isolating ,hand washing with soap and alcohol etc,etc.etc.

You gotta hand it to them they are experts at re-writing their own history to suit the time .
