My email to JW Following Trolley Conversation

a few weeks ago i had an really interesting conversation with three male jws who were loitering around a trolley at the west end of princes street in edinburgh.. i managed to completely avoid giving any hint about my jw past and focussed on why they thought the bible was a reliable moral guide.

i used the subject of slavery to illustrate my concerns.. one of the three was in his early twenties, knew a lot about his own beliefs but nothing about the real life and it was difficult to get through his thought-bubble.

the second one was in his 60s and not very bright.

I had a couple of JW`s at my door a few months ago ,one was about in her mid 50`s early 60`s and the other was about in her 20`s.

The discussion they started off on was how bad the world is today using the scripture she pointed me to .

I countered about how really this is the best of times to be living with the advancements in technology , health ,living conditions and so forth.

I tried to say I was just an interested person in religions in general and what they taught.

The mistake I probably made was I said I knew about C.T.Russell as the founder of JW`s as I also knew of the founder of the SDA`s ,Christadelphians ,Mormons etc.

And mentioned he predicted the end of the world in 1914 .Anyway to cut a long story short ,they thanked me for our discussion and how nice it was to talk to someone who had an interest in the bible,scriptural things and the younger one asked if it would be ok to come back some other time to talk again .

I said sure anytime your welcome to do so .

They never came back.

I wanted to give an update on my niece

about a month ago i had mentioned my niece who's jw parents kicked her out.

i let her know that she is welcome to my home if she wanted to come.

well, i found out through another relative that her jw parents (my sister) learned that i was more than happy to take in their daughter.

You shamed her Tameria good for you .I wonder how long she will be welcomed at their home.? You may very well have that opportunity to make that offer to her again or maybe she will feel that she could be more comfortable at your home than at her parents in a few weeks time.

I just had a quick browse on your first post about this and apparently she just doesn`t want to be a JW anymore and who could blame her ? So obviously they will be putting pressure on her to get back to meetings etc,and you will start believing again so on and so on.

So don`t be surprised if she does take your kind offer up and if she does try not to be the meat in the sandwich and let her find out abut TTATT with maybe just a few helpful hints along the way from you.

I hope everything works out fine for both you and your niece.

I find it interesting that the JW`s adopted the same Bible books as inspired as the Catholics and only excluded what the Catholics describe as Deuterocanonicals or Apocrypha ,the same as the Protestant religions.

And not all Christian religions have the same number of books in their Bible .

I want to try something new, any ideas?

normally when jws come to my door, i very quickly tell them i'm not interested in the jws.

and for about a year or so they don't come until that time passes.

well, they came by today, but this time i decided to not tell them to go away but had a nice conversation with the two that were at my door.

What about asking them to show you one scripture in the New Testament where Christians are instructed to witness about a God named Jehovah ?.....Just one (1 )

or

Where in the New Testament that explicitly states that Christians are to be witnesses of Jehovah`s Kingdom ?

And in each of those cases where the actual word Jehovah occurs ?

The word/name Jehovah does not appear anywhere in their Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures.

The word for word translation of the Greek into English.

as her marriage crumbles, a judge must decide a case involving a teenage boy who is refusing a blood transfusion on religious principle.. i saw the trailer for this a long time ago and its subject matter immediately got me interested.

it has just been added the netflix catalogue here in australia and i am looking forward to finally watching it.. please, if you've seen it, no spoilers!.

I enjoyed the movie as a whole if you know what i mean ,I think its a big ask for film makers to really know what its like to be indoctrinated over many years as a Jehovah`s Witness and portray it how we ex JW`s would like it to be portrayed.

But I think they did a good job overall.

"Apostasy" was another good one .

"Worlds apart" another good one

If you haven`t seen them do yourself a favour.

Didn`t you mean to say a murderer gets a resurrection and a pot smoker gets Armageddon ?

Anyhow ,shouldn`t law enforcement agencies ,police etc. be made aware of this letter of the G.B. of J.W.`s to the elders ,as this obviously applies all around the world .?

Maybe even Current Affairs / Foreign Correspondent TV programs could make good use of a letter like this for one of there TV programs. ?

I wonder if Angus Stewart & Justice Mclellan of the Investigation into Institutionalised Child Sexual Abuse Enquirey in Australia were aware of this letter and whether it would have made a difference in their findings about the religion of Jehovah`s Witnesses.?
