Britain | Jehovah's Witnesses hushed up child sex scandal | July 16, 2013
by jwleaks inchurch officials hushed up a child sex scandal in their ranks and refused to co-operate with police.. .
jehovah witness ministerial servant gordon leighton admitted sexually abusing a child when he was confronted by his church elders, a court heard.. but during the official police investigation, the 53-year-old who made headlines in the 1990s when wife yvonne, 28, died after refusing a blood transfusion after childbirth on religious grounds denied any illegal wrongdoing.. and when detectives asked elders simon preyser, harry logan and david scott to make statements about the confession, all three refused and said what they had heard was confidential.. for three years, the elders refused to co-operate with the criminal investigation and kept up that stance when the case was brought before newcastle crown court after the victim made a complaint to police.. each was issued with a witness summons which they fought to overturn before being ordered to testify by judge penny moreland citing public interest.. their barrister richard daniels said the men had a duty to god not to breach confidence.. he added: privileged communication between members of the congregation and ministers is an absolute right and duty and there is no power in law to breach such a confidence.. judge moreland said: it is apparent that the three elders who were present when this conversation took place are in possession of relevant evidence as to a point which is of real significance in this case.. they claim the right of confidentiality, they claim that what they heard said by the defendant during the course of that meeting ought to be subject to privilege, as ministers of religion.. judge moreland refused to withdraw the summonses and said: public interest is clearly in favour of this evidence being given.. what was said by the defendant on that occasion is of great significance in the trial.. despite the judges ruling, the men still refused to make statements to police until just hours before they were called before the jury.. leighton, who has since been expelled from the church at lambton kingdom hall in washington, denied two charges of indecency with a child and seven of indecent assault.. he was yesterday found guilty of two charges of indecency with a child and six of indecent assault.
he was found not guilty of one indecent assault charge, on the direction of the judge.. he was remanded in custody until he is sentenced next month but warned he is facing a lengthy spell behind bars.. prosecutor katherine dunn told the court the victim, who is now an adult, broke her silence in 2009.. the court heard how at a special church meeting, leighton admitted sexual abuse and made excuses for his behaviour.. miss dunn said: the elders conducted their own investigation.

Its in the Daily Mail newspaper page 20. Title is: "Jehovah's Witness is guilty of child sex abuse". Now thats better than 'sex scandel'.
If the victim reported the abuse in December 2009, why was a meeting only set up to investigate the allegations in April 2010? 4 months later! Seems to me the elders weren't taking this seriously from the start. If you were caught smoking or apostasizing you would be on the doorstep inside 2 weeks...

Why put yourself and your family through the wringer like this?? Take control of YOUR life!
These co's, po's, do's, elders and gossip monkies have NO AUTHORITY over you or your household. They have not been chosen by any supposed divine authority. By even talking to these fraudulant people you give them the power they crave.
I was phoned out of the blue by an elder who wanted us to d/o ourselves by letter after a field service group saw our christmas lights. (you couldnt miss 'em mind ) My statement to him was that any brother who dared to make ANY announcement about us would be sued personaly for "using our names without permission in a public place (data protection act)" and "defamation of character". No announcement. Left alone. Nada.
They hate hearing the "sue" word. Take control once and for all. We had to start again with new friends. It was more than worth it. Hope it all works out.

Our last congo had territory that housed a lot of travelling type folks and gypsies. Mainly run down terraced housing. This was our first time on the doors after we had just moved to this new cong. First door was an end of terrace house and the door was slightly open. I knocked. Nothing. Knocked again. Nothing. Somebody must have been in. So I pushed open the door a bit more so I could shout hello to anyone that might be there. There was a hallway with a room off. Out of this door walked a very small horse...
Me and my wife just looked at each other with a 'what kind of congregation have we got into' look.

In my home cong there is a guy who thinks he's of the special class. My Dad used to be an elder and was present when this idiot told the body he felt he was of the annointed. Apparently, he'd asked an old sister who also thought she was special what it felt like to be annointed. Like he wasnt sure or something.
That was in the late 70's. Now his family are all out, he comes in to the meetings late and goes home straight after, doesnt chat to anybody, his talks are really rubbish as are his prayers. He takes the memorial talk every year with no feeling for the ransom at all. Nothing he says is believable, and he's had a string of failed businesses. I know, I did work experience with him as a young man. Most in that hall dont believe he has the 'power' bestowed on him. He's the ultimate grumpy sod.

Who has had their District Convention seats stolen by other Witnesses?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia inover the years i have had to deal with this problem personally and as a attendant covering my section at various convention centers.
i had people who were suppose to be decent jehovah witnesses pick up all the books, bags and coolers belonging to brothers and sisters who arrived at the appropriate time and picked them up and dumped them all at the end of the seating row.
so here is what goes down, the sister runs up to me panicking and saying "dear brother, i had all those seats reserved for my family and now look!

I was an attendant at the Metro Radio (was telewest) arena. My job was to stand at the heavy door upstairs that led to the arsembly bigwigs rooms and also look after that section of seating. One year, Dan Sydlik was due to give a talk. His extended family wanted to sit in my section to be near the bigwig rooms, but were late arriving. So they 'politely' asked me if a family could be moved to accomodate them. I said no, the families were all settled and listening to the indoctrination session. They then told me who they were, to which I replied "Thats nice! If you want, you can ask one of the families yourselves." I was 'politely' told to do my job or the arsembly coordinater would hear of it. I asked them to wait where they were. I went through the heavy door and went to the arsembly coordinaters desk. I told Glen Mcfarlane what had happened and that I didnt wish to be spoken to in a manner befitting a turd.
He said he would handle it. After speaking to them, they filed into the bigwigs rooms after which I didnt see them again 'till after lunch. Guess where they ended up sitting after the intermission? Yep, my section. I learned later that a family was asked (told) to move to another section so that the entourage could get a better view. I kept giving them the cold stare the whole afternoon.
Being an attendant at that arsembly guarding that particular door from the rank and file did more to wake me up than bad doctrine ever did.

Wow. Flashbacks of helping build the platforms at Edingburgh conventions as a kid. They were works of art. One year had a small mountain with snow on top. Bridges and running streams and waterfalls. And weirdly the platforms were allways painted in a terracotta orangy brown colour. It would take 2 weeks to build some of them. Then came the 'simplification', or 'the we need to make more profit' times, and we ended up putting up a low square box for them to shpeel the sh*t from.
