maybe I am paranoid...
by Azalo indoes anyone know if there are spies who monitor these boards?
has anyone unintentionally "outed" themselves solely by posting on these boards?
i have been out for over 7 years now but my family is still in and i am afraid of giving too many details about myself for fear that someone will inform them.

Elders' kids - special treatment?
by starfish422 init seems to be the opinion of some on this board that elders' kids received special treatment, weren't punished for their wrongdoings, etc.. as the daughter of the po in our small congregation, let me tell you that it was much harder for me than for the kids of those who weren't elders.
our family was expected to be the "model family for displaly purposes" and we were held up to very high standards so that we didn't "stumble" anyone.
at times i wished my dad wasn't an elder so that i could have a bit more freedom.

Well, I just know that when I was in high school, any time I strayed off the straight and narrow by even a small fraction, my "friends" (the other Witness kids at school) couldn't run to my PO dad fast enough and I got slammed every friggin' time.

How pathetic....
by starfish422 inwhen you think about it, how ridiculous and pathetic is the theocratic ministry school?
the dubs are so unimaginative and incapable of independent thought that they have to be spoonfed presentations.
the same goes for the "how to present the magazines..." section of the km.. i just cringe when i think about those silly little talks i used to give (sitting, of course!

I just cringe when I think about those silly little talks I used to give (sitting, of course! and no eye contact with the congregation!!! EEK!); thinking up a stupid little "situation" and turning it into an opportunity to witness.
And my "score sheet". I hated that. Grrrrr. And I gave talk after talk and was selected to be a householder, maybe three times in all that. ACK. What a joke.

Question I haven't seen yet
by Descender inthis is my first post, i've been reading the board for a few months now and i must say it's rather addicting.
anyway, back to the topic of my post.
i was wondering how many, if any of you went out with a bang, like on a sunday morning meeting while you were giving a talk, or maybe while you were giving a #2 or #4 talk on the ministry school.

Hi Descender,
I left with a bang, during a meeting, but I wasn't at the meeting. My parents were at the Sunday meeting, I had feigned illness and was at home, and while they were gone, I had a friend come pick me up and I never went back. :)

Have you had formal counselling/therapy?
by starfish422 ini am starting sessions with a psychologist in a couple of weeks.
i still have so much anger that i've been trying to deal with on my own for nearly ten years; well, technically for almost 28 years.
it is now manifesting itself in anxiety and depression.

It is now manifesting itself in anxiety and depression. I finally talked to my doctor about starting to see a therapist to work through this stuff; I don't want to let the Borg have any control over me any more.
Just wondering if anyone else has had counselling for this sort of thing; did it help? Thanks.

Let's Say Some POSITIVE Things About The Organization Or Being a JW
by minimus insince we're accused by some of being so negative about jehovah's witnesses, let's start a thread regarding some positive things about being a witness or believing in the organization.

I'm with Scully on the public speaking; also, I didn't get pregnant in my teens. That's a good thing. Didn't end up with any STDs; that's positive. (Yes, I was one of those few who didn't screw around in their teen years; that is, until I left the Borg)
And if I could talk to complete strangers about something as ridiculous as the stuff I was peddling in the WT and Awake mags, I can talk about anything.
