  An older brother with a Methuselah beard falls asleep in the service overseer's car. The hot sun through the glass sets his beard alight.
  The car goes up in flames destroying the owners expensive work tools and two worldly neighbours cars. They all sue Bethel for a huge payout as he was on the ministry at the time.
  Local needs on Methuselah style beards are immediately delivered worldwide..

  It's about time!

  Around 2013 a brother I really liked who had been an elder, his father a co, was going through an awful time.

  His life was really difficult, he had lost his wife, brother amongst other loved ones and had so many other hurdles thrown at him none of which were his fault.

  The coordinator of his kh, an older man ex co and bethelite had said he was to lose all his 'privileges' unless he shaved off his very small, discrete goatee beard.

  He was just about done with it all as his little jobs in the hall were all he now had.

  I begged him to just be patient and serve without a goatee for just 12 months to see if if things settled down as I didn't want to lose a good brother and friend over his small beard.

  He agreed to give it 12 months.

  He rang me within a week to the old elder had rung him up and apologised profusely, saying he was wrong, he could serve with his beard.. this was around 2013 so this issue must have been bubbling up for years..

  even elders can be part of the new jw lite brigade these days.

  they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.

  i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

  Good points Teddnzo.

  In my younger days I regular auxiliary pioneered for a number of years. I was doing 60 hours plus in the ministry every single month.

  My job and hours were awful. But I got constant questioning, nagging and sarcastic comments from elders doing around 10 hours a month about why I wasn't a 'regular pioneer'..

  I killed myself and became a regular pioneer doing 90 hrs a month - now how many hours do pioneers have to do???
