If we trust the Governing Body, then we would HAVE to admit that we trust in men. And we also would HAVE to admit that we put our trust in UNINSPIRED MEN at that.

Why we really SHOULD trust the Governing Body...
by cedars inthis well-reasoned youtube video explains it all.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwjm5d9m1lm.
it seems that, in my haste to scrutinize the teachings of the governing body and see whether they are actually in line with bible teachings, i have overlooked one important factor which indicates that they really can be trusted as those "taking the lead" in god's organization..... ...apparently, their weekly meetings sometimes run past 5 o'clock!!
i would like to apologise for any undue criticism i may have levelled at the governing body on this forum or elsewhere.. if i had been aware of the above information, i would obviously have been far more willing to humbly accept their leadership.. .

Are You More Of A Spiritual Person Since Leaving The "Truth"?
by minimus ini don't think i'm more of a spiritual person now..
-
somebody
I've ALWAYS been a spiritual person. If I wasn't, I don't think I would have ever left the JW "organized religion"/cult or otherwise. That hasn't changed since leaving the borg. Being "spiritual" has nothing to do do with religious organizations in my experience. I have two grown children who are now athiest adults and I KNOW that they are spiritual. One more than the other, but they both are spiritual people.
Great question you asked for "reasonable thinking persons" !

an old acquaintance way back from the h20 discussion board days has given me a link to a talk given at an assembly by the then district overseer duggan, that he had recorded on a cassette tape.
amazingly, he still had the tape and made it into and mp3 file and has shared it.

Well if he did die of old age, he died of natural death.

Greetings all!
An old acquaintance way back from the H20 discussion board days has given me a link to a talk given at an assembly by the then District Overseer Duggan, that he had recorded on a cassette tape. Amazingly, he still had the tape and made it into and MP3 file and has shared it. The sound is amazing too, after all these years and he recording it so well. The talk was given on November 24th of the year 1968. Listen and you’ll hear the DO state that there is “not really a full 83 months” left till the battle of Armageddon. Listen to it and do the math, and it will bring you to October 1, 1975. Which is exactly what the DO said. The assembly was held at Pampa, Texas, on Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th in 1968.
I have that person’s permission to share it here with you all. God bless him and many thanks go out to him!!
Here is the link and once there, click where it says "District_Overseer_Duggan_s_remark_about_amount_of _time_remaining_Assembly"
Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Download" underneath where it says "Slow Download".http://www.filefactory.com/f/6c8f2a28665af817/
Edited to say that the link isn't clickable. Can anyone help me by making it clickable?

Greetings, rather be in hades.
I would first ask her that if the "brothers" do not claim to be inspired and never have.. and have admitted that they make mistakes in doctrine, then why should anyone view what is published in the WTS' literature to be the teachings of God and not men? Then have her look up the following article on her CD. It's only from 2010, so it's pretty recent.
*** w10 9/15 p. 13 par. 8 Unity Identifies True Worship ***
The Governing Body publishes spiritually encouraging literature in many languages. This spiritual food is based on God’s Word. Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah.Ask her what she thinks about imperfect unispired men publishing such a thing about thier very own literature. Because if they can make such a statement, then anyone who publishes literature that it's based on the Bible can make the same statement and your Mom whould have to believe them if she is going to believe the men who make up the gb residing at WTS headquarters. If men claim that they are unispired, then they are OUTRIGHT LYING in claiming that what they teach in thier literature is not from men, but from God.
I don't have too much time at the moment so I'll just say that I think you've been given some great advice here from posters and that I'm sorry you have to go through this. My thoughts are with you and your mom. Cults REALLY DO SUCK!
peace to you,

Emailing my sister RE: Child abuse conviction - NEED HELP!!
by What Now? inso the other night, my family was together and my dad brought up the recent child abuse conviction for the society.
big surprise, my sister hadn't heard anything about it, so of course she got right on to the jw.org website and emailed me the link to the watchtowers official statement.
this is my reply:.

She DOESN'T CARE if it were you or your child or younger sister but if she had a child of her own she might be more sympathetic? WOW! How sad is that? Does Jehovah allow bad things to happen IN THE ORGANIZATION because HE RULES it as the WTS has stated?
I feel bad for you What Now? . My heart goes out to you. I'm happy that you discussed this with her though. I'm sure she is thinking about it now and may start doing some research herself.

The "Secrecy Policy
by Celestial ini've given this recent lawsuit quite a bit of thought and come to sound conclusions.
after examining other organization's child-protection policies (namely churches), what i've come to realize is there's a one-size fits all solution that's socially acceptable; all information obtained through witnesses and confessions by organizational personnel is be used to aid and abet law-enforcement.
there's no in-between or anything short of this objective that's socially acceptable.

No clergy- penitent privilege laws would apply to any JWs period, seeing as JWs have no clergy class, according the the Watchtower Society itself.
*** g8/10p.9WhatDoJehovah’sWitnessesBelieve?***
10. Theclergy-laitydistinction “All you are brothers,” said Jesus to his followers. (Matthew 23:8) The early Christians, including the Bible writers, had no clergy class. This Biblical pattern is the one that Jehovah’s Witnesses follow.

My first thought was that I knew they would change what or who the F&DS is because that "slave" is already said to be non-exisitant in the court in Victoria regarding the Child protection laws there. Soon, the GB will be said to be "invisible" too. Collective asses are to be covered! :-)
