  i just answered a question "off the top of my head" to a question which brought to my mind something that i heard at a talk at our assembly that has "bothered" me and i am hoping for some clarification as i would never want to be accused of what this topic is about .... .

  it was a talk at our recent assembly that brought out a 'new one' for me ...or perhaps i just haven't heard of it as yet ... .

  "guilt" is a word. It is also the greatest best coercion tool. (I'd have to say that we all probaly use it slightly when other people don't react the way we want them to, even as joke sometimes ). And all cult leaders know that it is the greatest coercion tool.. It's the ONE tool all of the greastest known cult leaders have used in the past, and the leaders of the biggest cults' leader's still use today. Just look at the guilt trip they lay on people who are still just "studies" of the JW organization for a time and won't get baptized in association with the organization! Wasn't the "knowledge book" released by the WTS INC. with the GOAL that "studies" will become "members" within 6 months? And that's not even mentioning yhe WTS INC teaching that if one is not "progressing" that they no longer have the freedom to pray to GOD and be heard BY GOD. Talk about being puffed up with pride even for an INCORPORATED BOOK PUBLISHING BUSINESS!!!

  Truthseeker….. you brought up a great topic. I agree with what Jeff Schwehm said. That being that the WTS Incorporated is still teaching ( for about 20 years) that even to not believe what the group of humans who claim to “represent” the “faithful and discreet slave” teach is to apostate from not THEMSELVES, but GOD. They have taught that and just laying it on stronger now because they have been exposed. So the last resort is to start laying on the guilt stronger and stronger in order to keep at least the FOLLOWERS OF THEMSELVES that they have already sought and gained.

  Gopher….The WTS Incorporated teach that the resurrection of SOME (who were JWs of course) has ALREADY HAPPENED..

  Amazing1914 has the reason for the WTS Incorporated organization to give such talks to IT’S OWN followers correct. As a matter of fact, the WTS is doing what it once wrote about Catholic leaders did to their own followers and according to the WTS INC. it backfired. I just wonder why it thinks if it does the same thing, it won’t make it’s own followers start reading all the “apostate” sites that it itself reads? It is no secret on the WORLD WIDE WEB that the WTS INC read “apostate” sites and in fact keep reading such sites ALL THE TIME. There are things going on right in front of their own noses that they don’t even see because they are too busy stretching their own noses out. Which is always a good thing!!!

  Alrighty then. Can anyone explain how one can go about not advocating or insisting on personal opinions and ideas and at the same time not harbor them?

  LOL….I was thinking the same question but couldn’t bring myself to ask! Perhaps it depends on where we are located when using certain words? Either way, you never fail to bring a smile to my heart,, (Yes, hearts can smile! J )

  gwen...who is still trying to get through George Orwell's 1984. I'm having a heard time because BIG BROTHER is the EXACT IMAGE of THE ORGANIZATION to me, as I try to keep reading. I find it very hard to read because I still can't believe that I was an ACTIVE member of such a "thing". And I left years ago but it feels like it was just yesterday at times such as reading such a book.

  I check OTHER.

  My first act of rebellion, if you wish to call it that... was I had doubts if I even believed in God. And it took me years to even pick up and try and read a Bible after that. I found that I do believe in God, but not the Watchtower Society INC. ,or anything IT publishes. I learned the hard way the that WTS INC nor IT's god has NOTHING to do with GOD.

  How Would You Feel If A Poster Just Vanished?

  I have missed many people who I've talked to online who just disappeared. I always believed that they weren't supposed to be talking to me online to begin with because those were the only people who disappered. Besides the one who passed one too and that's why I never heard from him, the other people should not have been talking to me about what they were talking to me about.

  And the one person who truly mattered to me even though we lost contact for approx 18 years and I thought for sure would never talk to me again once I confessed that I am what he would have considered to be "an apostate", never stopped talking to me and never lost contact with me.

  But YES,I did feel a true and heartfelt sadness when a couple of people just vanished that I used to talk to as posters online. And I do miss a few posters who just disappered from this board with no warning or should i say without a goodbye? It has happened over the years I have been here.

  Thank you for all your replys. I'll probaly check out redhen's suggestion only because I like old stuff.

  Anyone remember when nobody complianed when we taped songs off the radio with cassettes and copied cassetes that other friends bought? I don't understand what the difference is. Nobody got sued by artists for doing it! Artists were actaully HAPPY to hear that their talent was so widely spread and counted that for good ratings.

  some advice about meeting door to door jws

  hi im new here and found this forum via a search engine - i am a practicing christian and the other day i had a knock on the door - got into an interesting conversation with two jws and as i didnt have much time invited them back - in the meantime they had posted a booklet on the trinity or there version of it and when they came back the novice had been replaced by someone who had obviously had a lot more experience at talking to christians

  i didnt want to get into a bible debate - and asked them about their salvation and how they knew they were saved - but they just seemed to be reading from a different script than me - as much as i tried we ended up batting bible texts back and forth

  anyway to sum up - they want to come back to do a bible study on any topic i choose

  Hello hepzibah and welcome to the board.

  It may be a good idea to say that you wish to discuss Matther 24:14..(NWT)

  " And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."

  Then ask them what "this good news" or gospel is according to the Bible. And then ask them what "this good news", or gospel is according to the Watchtower. Then ask them to read Galations 1:8 and 9 mean to them. Ask them if they believe Pauls two time warning.

  However, even if we or an angel out of heaven were to declare to YOU as good news something beyond what we declared to YOU as good news, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said above, I also now say again, Whoever it is that is declaring to YOU as good news something beyond what YOU accepted, let him be accursed."

  Then ask them if ANY of those scriptures state that it ok to preach as good news a message that goes not only beyond, but in addition to, what Christ and the apostles preached and accepted as " the good news"/gospel" to be preached.

  Print this out and I'll continue tomorrow filling you in with what they will say to you, and what the Watchtower teaches as "the good news to be preached". Then you can ask them if they agree with what the WTS INC teach, or what the Bible teaches.

  i got a call from the er last night---hubby had been in an accident and they were running tests and x-rays.

  he was in terrible pain.

  they called back during the night during the night saying he has a shattered sternum and other injuries.
