I would love to see a thread that strictly listed lawsuits against the WTBTS..enclosing actual referrals and newspaper clipping if possible for authenticity .Surely they can't hush them all up..

Look who's coming to dinner...
by mrsjones5 insince i have recently received all of my cooking stuff out of storage from indiana i decided i wanted to do something i haven't done in a long while: cook a big thanksgiving feast and invite family and dear friends.
the friends won't be a problem, it's the family that mostlikely won't show.
i've asked my brother who lives fairly close and he said he didn't know because he and his wife would be coming home for a trip two days before.

When we were witnesses my non JW Dad and Mom would have us over for turkey..pretty soon my JW mother in law decided she was going to cook their free turkey they got from my father in laws work every year on turkey day cause that's when he had a day off and it was more convenient.(She used to cook it on Saturday) .making sure eveyone knew they were not celebrating Thanksgiving..it was just a more convenient day to have it..even tho the first few years my parents always had us over. For years we had to go to 2 Turkey dinners so as not to hurt any feelings after that..
One year my JW Mother in law didn't know her gas tank was running low and ran out while cooking..the turkey wasn't getting done..They eventually checked the gas and switched it over to a new tank.So my hubby (JW and the boss) decided we would cancel my parents and wait for his Mom's to get done..they only lived 10 minutes away from each other..To this day I think she planned it that way so her son wouldn"t have to go for "Thanksgiving Turkey" with non JW's..Now that I look back I can see so much munipulation from her..it angers me because I know it really hurt my parents..Thankfully I left the religion before my parents died and was able to make up for some of the pain I caused them.

SAD news about OOMPA......

just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.

Just saw it on another site..I was wishing it wasn't true. I wish people leaving the religion could see there actually is a life outside the JW community..you just sometimes have to look for it. My heart aches for "Oompa" and prays his family wakes up so his death will not be in vain. You will be missed..

Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?
by mP inive had a few discussions both here and in real life and often find people excuse the ot with all its vile, violence and only concentrate on jesus because he was good.
i try and assk them to show me an example and they of course they quickly tell us about the miracles, and thats fine.
however when you ask them about slavery, violence, women and so on they make excuses.

I was reading a scripture someone posted the other day about how we should all "Fear God" because that was what he wanted..really turned me off to god. How can a supposed god of love expect his "followers" to fear him? Shouldn't their reason be out of love for him?

no immediate word on cause of death, which was originally reported by tmz.. the emmy- and golden globe-nominated actor was 74.. .

No more blood card
by lostinthought inwhat a day!
first of all one of my electronic devises broke so the store said they would replace it i just needed to show id, i removed my license from my wallet and saw my blood card staring me in the face i couldn't stand looking at it so i took it and crumpled it up and threw it away, upon leaving the store i had a car accident it the parking lot, nobody was terribly injured but it was my fault so i feel bad...but i also feel elated that i tore up the card, what if i had a really bad accident and i needed blood?
what could have happened to me?

I agree with Blondie..get a healthcare proxy..Hubby had one and he also told all the Drs and hospital he was a witness and gave them notorized copies of the papers stating no blood. He also made copies of his blood card for them.They never looked at them when they came in his room (It ws on his chart) and always asked him what blood type he was..it really pissed him and his JW mom off..
I too had a operation and lost a lot of blood as a JW..They were just letting me bleed.They finally operated to stop the bleeding but Iwas very weak from losing so much blood. I later learned I was also low on Vit K..Thankfully the anesthesiologist caught it and started Ringers in both hands..with huge needles. He was mad because none of the Drs or nurses seem to give a d_m..Course the Dr was one that supposedly sympathized with the JW's and they all went to him for surgery. He probably secretly hated them and was trying to kill them off..Did I tell you the Drs nickname with the nurses was Dr Butcher?..yeah..that was the ones the JW's said was so nice to the JW's..
The Dr Butcher died from Cancer a few months after that.

And D.T...your post made me remember when I was singing their songs how much they reminded me of several hymns I had heard other religions sing. I am sure they actually have one that sounds a lot like "Amazing Grace"..only of course they make it a little different and change the words to suit their needs..as usual.
I think that no matter the person making the protest the JW's just look so aloof..still can't believe no one offered them any magazines on tape..they passed up a chance to "Witness"..
They were possibly drilled on how to react to any protestors before they came to the assemblies..
Back when I was a JW I don't remember any protestors..but we were told to witness to anyone..no matter who or when. Their blood would be on our hands if we didn't..heaven forbid!
