The worst thing I learned as a JW was to be a "Wimp"..
It has taken me years to get my own voice!!!

i was thinking the other day about what 'good' things that i may have learned as a jw.
i know that i probably have a few 'good' habits, as a result of being a jw... of course, i've also picked up a few 'bad' habits, too after leaving that religion, dammit.
(<--- note: for the humor-impaired, i'ma cussin.).
The worst thing I learned as a JW was to be a "Wimp"..

troubled former witness calls legal department at the watchtower organization.............. dale beckman says, can the "society" be guilty of "alienation of affection?
" in my case, my family has been told it is proper to hate me and to do nothing to help me in any way - otherwise, they could be considered a sharer in my works of "unforgivable sin.
" they are told not to even greet me.
I would get on facebook and look up as many newspapers as I could and submit your story to them..surely one will pick it up ..bad press for the JW's..
Showing the evil side of a "Loving" organization.
Maybe even radio talk shows? Call in to a few of them.
But be sure that you have documentation and names in case they decide to sue you..
Snoozy..throw the book at them..
here is where the new tract is posted.

these photos were taken in toronto, canada at the 15th annual aboriginal festival in the sky dome on nov. 28 & 29, 2008. this was a booth that was set up, showcasing jehovah's witnesses and the literature available in the different native languages.
Quote:"You can live in a happy paradise, if you put on white man clothes and do what white guys in Brooklyn tell you what to do, like abandon most of your culture because it is too "pagan".
I wonder if the WT will strip them of the dreamcatcher, the flute, and any other traditional cultural items because after all, they have "pagan" roots. If not, how can they justify taking away Christmas, toasting and other things that they claim have pagan roots?" (End of Quote)
I wonder just how they do handle this? Do they still have teepees set up for the indian friends I wonder?
They must have a really hard time letting go of their traditions..I would think even more so than a Catholic .
Snoozy..
i assume you are all aware of this by now.
qfr could a christians practice of viewing pornography.
become so bad that it results in his being expelled.
3rdgewn..from what I have read/heard neutering doesn't help.
I have read the same about rapist..castrating them doesn't help either because it is a crime of violence rather than a crime of passion.

dude seriously........3am in the morning, my cat semone.....................meooow..............meooooooooooooooooow......meow......meeeeeeoooooooooooow.....meoooooooooooooooooooooooooow.........meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooow.
and i gotta get up at 6?
!i love this cat, but seriously.....3am .... .
I just spent a week watching my daughters 4 month old kitty and 2 dogs at her house while they went to Vegas..
The cat slept all afternoon (as did the dogs) and she played all night..I could hear all kinds of activities while I was in bed. I heard her batting her jingle bell toys, her mouse squeakies and once in a while a small crash and I wondered what I would be getting up to in the morning. I just let her run..she has fun and I didn't lose any sleep over it.
The dogs snoring is a different story..
The one dog is trained (she trained herself) to ring the bells hanging on the front door when she wants out. She seems to know when it is 6:45 AM and rings the bell..
I went and fed the kitty and by the time I was finished the doggie wanted back in and we all went back to sleep for another hour (including the worn out and fed kitty)
I told my daughter about the playing before bedtime but it wound her up..made sense to me that it would wear her out..but it had the opposite effect.
They are just programed to play at night I guess...
Snoozy..who is glad she has no pets as much as she loves them..
thinking about witnesses in the past, when the witness work was banned, they went underground, continuing to meet and deliver tracts under cover of night.. all this due to their reasoning that they will obey cesar's law only when it doesn't conflict with god's commandments, such as "preach to all people".
now we see the watchtower telling it's membership to respect "no trespassing" or "no solicitating" messages, as well as condo bylaws that prohibit door to door visits.. watching them bend more and more to comply with cesar's law to give up preaching so that they don't get fines.
they've become more concerned with protecting their legal interests and money stockpile that the witness work is now more of a token activity to keep people busy.. one thing i don't know is, have they lightened up on phone witnesses with the introduction of the national do not call list?.
They can't get into my building without a key or a code ..so they sit in the parking lot and wait for victims..
They have a sign saying it is private at the entrance of the condo's..but they ignored that. They also aren't allowed to park unless they have a permit on their window..or visiting a guest they know.
Dingbats..

Funny you should post this..I live in a secured condo and wondered how they can reach/try to brainwash those that live in them. Well I came home today after being gone a week and was unloading my car. I noticed a car had parked not to far away form me in the visitors parking space..they got out of their car and rushed up to me with magazines in hand..nicely spread out so I could see the titles and said" Would you like some magazines of (Not sure of word) Life or Light..
That was a new approach to me..
I said "NO thanks..I don't want any of that..."
They almost ran back to their car and then continued to sit and wait for their next victim..
I was thinking"What a easy way for them to get their time in"..
First time in 3 years I have seen them. I think I saw someone making a return visit or going to a bible study one time as he had the little suitcase and the look..course he could have been a insurance agent..same thing right?..

there is no scripture that ever said "thou shall not gamble.
" the bible never mentions gambling.
yet it's a disfellowshiping sin.
I went on our local gambling boat a few years ago with my JW hubby , even saw a few witnesses on there. It was funny watching them spit out their excuses when hubby would talk to them.. ..I guess they didn't read the articles on gambling or they did and were busted....
"Do as I say, not as I do" would apply there I guess..

well, that is what the title should say.
it actually says, "why are people so angry?
" i think it's funny because anytime i try to say anything to a jw that is not praising the f&ds and the org, i get nothing but anger from them.
off topic but Steve I find Freud fascinating...but do you think it is always true? (Projection)..
According to Sigmund Freud, projection is a psychologicaldefense mechanism whereby one "projects" one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings onto someone else. 'Emotions or excitations which the ego tries to ward off are "spit out" and then felt as being outside the ego...perceived in another person'. [4] It is a common process. [5] The related defence of 'projective identification differs from projection in that the impulse projected onto an external object does not appear as something alien and distant from the ego because the connection of the self with that projected impulse continues'. [6]
In one example of the process, a person might have thoughts of infidelity with respect to a spouse or other partner. Instead of dealing with these undesirable thoughts consciously, the subject unconsciously projects these feelings onto the other person, and begins to think that the other has thoughts of infidelity and that the other may be having an affair. In this way, the subject may obtain 'acquittal by his conscience - if he projects his own impulses to faithlessness on to the partner to whom he owes faith'. [7] In this sense, projection is related to denial, arguably the only more primitive defense mechanism than projection, which, like all defense mechanisms, provides a function whereby a person can protect the conscious mind from a feeling that is otherwise repulsive.
Projection can also be established as a means of obtaining or justifying certain actions that would normally be found atrocious or heinous. This often means projecting false accusations, information, etc., onto an individual for the sole purpose of maintaining a self-created illusion. One of the many problems with the process whereby 'something dangerous that is felt inside can be moved outside - a process of "projection"' - is that as a result 'the projector may become somewhat depleted and rendered limp in character, as he loses part of his personality'. [8]
Compartmentalization, splitting, and projection are ways that the ego continues to pretend that it is completely in control at all times, when in reality human experience is one of shifting instinctual reactivity and emotional motivation in which the "I" is not always complicit. Further, while engaged in projection, individuals can be unable to access truthful memories, intentions, and experiences, even about their own nature, as is common in deep trauma. [9]"
I wonder if that's why the JW's are so suspicious of the world and negative in their speech ...?
Snoozy(why did my words get so tiny?...
my wife received a letter in the mail from a jw she had known from school.
we have seen this sister about twice in the last ten years; the last occasion was 4 years ago.
she lives in another congregation a few miles away.. this sister heard that we had been "recently discouraged" - those were her words.
truthseeker, maybe they all think the other guy is calling on you..
That's the excuse they used when my JW hubby was dying and no one was visiting him.
In reality they were remodeling the Assembly hall for the overseer that was coming to visit and had to hurry to finish..when questioned they gave the excuse of the other guy..
The assembly hall was less than 5 minutes away from us..
