  Counting Time

  i tried to do a minimum 30 hours a month field service.

  however, if we had only been allowed to count the time of "the actual conversations" we had with householders at the door i wonder what the real figure would be?.

  i think mine would easily have been less than 1 hour per month.

  What Doctrines or JW Views Did You Not Find Too Believable?

  the thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.

  you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

  Little Imp, that is too funny! Almost unbelievable for a grown up to act that way. Sometimes you just have to wonder if they truly can believe any of it themselves, surely they have to find that funny..surely!!!

  I was surprised when I learned that you had to hand in a monthly report of time spent knocking on doors. Seemed very Big Brother.

  Before we met my husband had attended meetings relating to assisting on a quick build. However, they then decided that as he did not hand in a report he wasn't allowed to help with the build.

  the thought that a loving creator would violently destroy anyone not belonging to the jehovah's witness religion including billions of babies seemed just not right.. the fact that you could recieve some "acceptable" blood components but could not donate those same lifesaving yourself seemed strange.

  you could recieve a blood fraction but you couldn't give it.. any others you can think of?

  Another thing I remembered was them telling us women that we would have to choose our husband over our children. They often gave the example of a flood and we could only save one it would have to be our husband and to let our children drown. (Yes they said that). I always figured it is a mothers instinct to save the children!..

  They argued that for the sake of the family line the husband could make more children..

  Never could go along with that...they carried that headship thing a little to far..

  And then we have the Org telling the women that they should stay with a abusive unbelieving mate because he may someday change and join her. They were encouraged to pray to Jehovah for strength to do the right things to turn their unbelieving mates around. I am sure many abusers did join, it was a religion after their own heart!

  So you should :

  Pray for the flood to stop (In flooded area's)

  Pray for the brothers and sisters in the hurricane areas

  Pray that others come into the "Truth"

  Pray to endure any persecution that may come upon them

  But in the prayers you are only allowed to pray for the strength to stand whatever problems you may face.

  Kind of a personal pep talk..

  Eventually I started wondering if anyone would listen to their prayers?

  Then I was sure no one was listening.

  Now after being out for a long time I am finally getting some spiritual feeling back..they almost ruined it all for me.

  Interesting to see that George H. Bush's nickname was "Magog"..didn't the witnesses used to talk about that a lot? (Gog and Magog) They seem to have gotten away from disgussing it now. Wonder why?

  Anyone know if they still bring it up in studies?

  RE: GOD AND MAGOG:

  It is important to recognize that the Gog and Magog of Ezekiel 38-39 is quite different from the one in Revelation 20:7-8 . Below are some of the more obvious reasons why these refer to different people and battles.
  
  1. In the battle of Ezekiel 38-39, the armies come primarily from the north and involve only a few nations of the earth ( Ezekiel 38:6 , 15 ; 39:2 ). The battle in Revelation 20:7-9 will involve all nations, so armies will come from all directions, not just from the north.
  
  2. There is no mention of Satan in the context of Ezekiel 38-39. In Revelation 20:7 the context clearly places the battle at the end of the millennium with Satan as the primary character.
  
  3. Ezekiel 39:11-12 states that the dead will be buried for seven months. There would be no need to bury the dead if the battle in Ezekiel 38-39 is the one described in Revelation 20:8-9 , for immediately following Revelation 20:8-9 is the Great White Throne judgment (20:11-15) and then the current or present heaven and earth are destroyed, replaced by a new heaven and earth ( Revelation 21:1 ). There obviously will be a need to bury the dead if the battle takes place in the early part of the tribulation, for the land of Israel will be occupied for another 1,000 years, the length of the millennial kingdom ( Revelation 20:4-6 ).
  
  4. The battle in Ezekiel 38-39 is used by God to bring Israel back to Him ( Ezekiel 39:21-29 ). In Revelation 20, Israel has been faithful to God for 1,000 years (the millennial kingdom). Those in Revelation 20:7-10 who are rebellious are destroyed without any more opportunity for repentance.

  if a friend of mine starts to say things out of emotion and i call him "schizophrenic" then that might be an insult.

  however if he is having auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking then that word becomes a description of his situation.. now i ask you.

  does the attendance to the kh promote intelligence?

  Cyber, I couldnl't have said it better!

  I found offensive the term Jehovah's witness and the Terms Kingdom Hall. Jehovah is a bad translation of an ancient Horrible God. They didnt witness anything other than the fact than an Idiot who call himself Judge used that name as a markenting campaing. That empy windowless box they attend that call Kingdom Hall belongs has no real King and no Kingdom.

  Never ever believed in a "New Order"..only went along with it hoping someday I would..never happened.

  Never ever could believe that they were "Special" like they always tried to convince you".

  Never ever could believe pretty much anything they taught..

  I waited for the spirit to hit me, never did. I did however believe there was something out there greater than us all..no thanks to them.

  I got tired of waiting and left...

  Since then I have read about all the baloney they sold and wondering how I could have been so gullible...

  i found i could relate to some of her experiences and i thought maybe folks on the board might be interested enough to read about it.

  Free love was very popular in the 60's. Sadly it remains today.

  What's even sader is that society let's this kind of thing exist..

  I sometimes wonder what the people raised this way actually think. I bet it would shock us.

  They aren't used to and never really knew a "Normal Life". sadly!

  Society let them down as did their parents.

  hi guys i must share with you with an application ive been used for a while in facebook.. the application turns your status into something much cooler, instead of just writing your status on the wall,youll be able to see your own status as an animation,which is super cool.. must admit i loved it from the very first time i saw this option in facebook,also you can choose a very cool backgrounds to use for the animation,you even have the option to upload backgrounds from your own computer.. if you didnt like the backgrounds in the facebook itself.. .

  you can publish the status not just on the wall,but also on your friendss wall,i just love it and .

  Update on my chemotherapy and my sister

  my sister lost her battle with breast cancer last week.

  i had just been dismissed from the hospital the day before and she was admitted to icu the next day.

  Aw, MsMcducky, my heart goes out to you. When it rains it pours sometimes. Good things have got to start happening for you!!

  Hopefully they can find a treatment that you can tolerate that will help you fight the disease.

  Just a word about smoking..you already know about it I am sure so no lectures, but I had a heart attack while I was smoking a cigarette! The nicotine or sometihing in the cigarette causes the blood vessels to restrict and if you already have a clogged artery it is like a death sentence! I had a widow's maker and I could have died!

  Thankfully they did the stent procedure and all was well. But it could have been worse. In talking to my brother (a lifetime smoker) he had a hard time controlling his blood pressure. All of a sudden it kept spiking and I asked him if he had been smoking a lot that night. He said he had been chain smoking. Now he tries to limit his smoking or at least wait a while before he has another. He hasn't had any more episodes on the blood pressure since.

  Your body needs time to recover from the bad chemicals in cigarettes. Your body is fighting enough as it is. It needs all the energy it can find to fight the cancer. I'm glad you have really cut down and hope you are able to eventually quit. I just got some of those E cigarettes for a friend that is also going through a lot of smoking related illnesses and needs to quit. hopefully it will help her. I wonder if that would help you?

  ( Sorry, I said no lecture but I care about you!)

  Anyway, I am so glad to see you posting and pray that they find a treatment you can tolerate..
