the rest are all dead.. i'm not counting my ex wife and all her family.... .
I have been shunned by my two sons for over a decade. This causes me ongoing heartbreak. I try to reach out to them both from time to time, but so far to no avail.
They are both in their mid- to late-20s.
Of course, my ex-wife and all of her family shun me but I couldn’t care less about any of them. I left the religion because of who and how they are.
Let’s not forget all of the “friends that are supposed-to-be-closer-than-a-brother”!

i was ministered to by several different people at a jw funeral i attended today.
one older lady said to me, "you know the end is right around the corner, just look at the state of the world today".
i said, "well yes but that has been the mantra for decades, remember 'stay alive till '75'".
The Watchtower (formerly the "Watch Tower and Herald of Christ's Presence") has been predicting "The End" since it was first published in July 1879.
That's 140 years of being wrong.

my nephew has awakened but is still at the beginning of his journey.
he doesn't want to leave his mother (my sister) behind and is trying to help her think critically.
(no chance of him being dfed because he was never baptized).

IMHO, Releasing the Bonds, is the best for a JW. It helped me!

The Cease and Desist letters are intriguing.
Any ideas as to why the WTBTS would send this sample to the elders? It seems like an odd thing to do.

That's a great piece of advice. Healing and rebuilding our lives after leaving a cult takes both time and effort—there is real work involved in processing the experience of being in and leaving a cult.
But at some point we all need to move on, to become an ex-EX-JW.
That and get busy living the life we have left and making the most of it from from JW dogma and restrictions.
We don't need any labels to define us, no we don't.
