Looks like quite a few people had him figured out even back then.

recently, in the past few months, and this only applies to in dubs who might have taken note, the watchtower study edition made a change.
it mentioned the “warning work” where dubs are going to march around and proclaim everyone is going to die.. anyway, this article said it was now only a possibility, not a sure thing.. i can’t find it.
did watchtology change it already?.
I think that taking that step would be an all-or-nothing gamble. The WTS has come back from a lot of missteps, but changing the message from "join us while there is time" to "it is too late now" is unambiguously a statement that the end is upon us. How long could individuals preach that before it starts to become extremely uncomfortable and awkward?
You don't recover from a mistake like that.

Thanks for the link to that Kiwi Farms thread, LMsA. I laughed out loud at this line in the first post:
As for why he picked the name "John"... well, you'll see.

His skill at misdirection was clear back then, too.
Apparently the fact that I am giving away a copy of Crisis of Conscience in a competition on YouTube makes me "toxic," a "liability" and "bad for business."
He then quotes Marc's letter, which tells a different story. The descriptions of him as toxic, a liability, and bad for business have to do with his attempts to sell the book in violation of the owner's copyright. This, Marc writes, would reflect poorly on AAWA due to its association with him. He implied that doing this on his YouTube channel was a way to gain more subscribers- ie, a way to further monetize an action that was in violation of copyright.
But, by making the claim that it's only because of a giveaway, Evans tries to poison the well and twist Marc's words. This appears to be one of his primary MOs, to use a strawman to reinterpret a person's words to suit his claims, and then attack the misconstrued statements. This does not seem to be due to confusion- it looks deliberate. It justifies Marc's warning about him.
in 6-1 judgment, the ecthr found that the forced dissolution of jehovah’s witnesses religious organisations in russia, the banning of their religious literature and international website on charges of extremism, the revocation of the permit to distribute religious magazines, the criminal prosecution of individual jehovah’s witnesses, and the confiscation of their property unlawfully interfered with their human rights.
the only dissenting judge is apparently mikhail lobov, who was nominated by the russian government.. .
.
My guess is that Putin will ignore the ruling, but will seek to remain in the ECHR. I'm curious if they will try to remove Russia from the court if it ignores or rejects the ruling.

Really? He has been involved in drama at some point or another for much of his time since starting his website. Among exJWs, he's probably the one person you might expect to derail his own life so totally as to get hundreds of pages of comments (and not just here!).

I'll give him this- he'll never ever be able to look as batshit crazy as Stephen Lett.

Now that you mention it, I wonder how long it will be before he adds their pictures to the background (and if he will claim that they were always there).

The thing about Lloyd's comment is what does it matter what a retired lawyer's credentials are?
Based on his comment, it seems as if he's trying to back her into a corner by making this an issue. I agree with Simon, I think he's just looking to get as much info on Kim as he can, in the hopes that he can use it at some point down the road. If she decides not to respond, he is implying that she is lying about her past and is thus not credible.
This is a non-issue because the latest video's content was, yet again, confirmed by Evans himself. His bluster about adding to the litigation is just that- noise. His admission that he accepted her claim that she was a lawyer when it suited his needs is another example of his lack of self-awareness. His statement that "the ramifications are huge" if she is lying is, too. I mean, if a guy can lie to his family for years about his infidelity and sex habits, he "can lie about anything." Right?
And as for "over-sharing"... LOL. He is a nightmare of a client for a lawyer, seeing as he won't shut up. And it looks like he's admitting that his strategy is to file defamation suits that no one will respond to, in the hopes of being granted judgment in default. *facepalm*
so my in-laws actually went out to dinner with us today.
normally, since leaving in 2016, they wouldn’t eat with us or talk much to me.
(since i did convince their daughter to leave the cult).
I agree with Gorb, it can be difficult to figure out what they are doing. Sometimes it seems as if they're not sure themselves, but it might be that they are quietly allowing a few trial balloons to see if they can keep more people in by easing the rules on shunning. As others already pointed out, they are getting some pushback from governments on issues like shunning and rejection of blood transfusions. It might be better for them, in the long run, to make changes and conform with that pushback in order to try and keep membership numbers from declining (or declining faster).
